After Elijah met with the different factions, after some persuasion, they accepted the invitation to the Blessing celebration that would be held in honor of the witches.
While Elijah was busy with that, Oliver and Klaus were in the church, Oliver having brought Cary to Klaus, since Klaus wanted to talk to his relative. Oliver roughly dragged him into the church for the meeting.
“You don’t stop squirming, I don’t care who you know, I’m gonna kneecap you right here,” Oliver threatened.
Klaus vamp-sped toward them, annoyed.
“When I asked you to bring Cary to me, it was as my guest. Might I recommend you release him before I opt to release you from your mortal coil.”
“I found him like you asked, and he jumped me. Now, his pack's been going at mine since the beginning of time. I don't owe him a thing.”
“You see, it's that short-sighted attitude that led to the demise of the werewolves,” Klaus reminded him.
“I’m pretty sure Marcel and the witches did that,” Oliver replied.
“The packs should have been united. Marcel saw that weakness and he exploited it. If you seek to rebuild with only the Crescents, you may as well stay in your hovels in the bog!” He turned to Cary and smiled kindly. “I don’t believe we’ve had the pleasure of an introduction.”
“Legend says you’re descended from our line,” he replied to Klaus.
“The legends are true. Come here.” He led him away and pulled his ring out of his pocket. “I understand that this ring was passed down through generations of our family. I need to know what stone it housed.”
“I never saw it with a stone,” Cary replied.
“Could you ask around for me, mate? Hmm? See what you can find out,” Klaus asked of him.
That night, the Feast of Blessings parade began. The witches marched down the street, and the three currently-alive Harvest girls were hoisted above the crowd on thrones. The girls were dressed for the element they represented in the Harvest—Monique in floral earth tones, for earth, Davina in bright red-orange for fire, and Abigail in white, for air. Genevieve anxiously watched it from the sidelines.
“It’s time. Klaus will be at the event, which means the compound will be empty. You know what to do,” Genevieve said to a witch next to her. She then joined the Harvest girls on stage to greet the crowd. “Now, in accordance with the Fête des Bénédictions, the witches of New Orleans bless you all!”
The crowd cheered and Genevieve stepped off the stage. Monique stepped forward first, and created a mild earthquake that rumpled the ground below them. Then, Abigail stepped forward and raised her arms to create very strong wind that blew around the crowd of tourists. Finally, Davina stepped forward, turned around, and raised her palm to the sign behind her, which immediately ignited with fire and set off dozens of fireworks, which made the crowd cheer again.
At the compound, the male witch that Genevieve sent to fetch the grimoire, looked around for it and then saw it on the table in the courtyard. He went to grab it, but then he heard Klaus and saw him on the balcony.
“A little too easy, isn’t it? I’ve been expecting you.” He vamp-sped down to face him. “You’re late.”
After a little talk and after Cami gave Genevieve a gift, Genevieve finally thought about helping Kieran.
After Klaus stood in the main room with Josh at his side, he gave Davina a gift, which Davina took, but said that she didn’t want his gift. But then Klaus announced that he was pardoning Josh and Josh no longer had to fear him. Then Klaus left them to be alone. When Davina opened it, it was a spell to make Daylight rings.
Katherine was walking around the party, when Klaus caught up with her and wrapped an arm around her.
“I hear you made quite an impression with the wolves. My arrangement with them was supposed to be a secret, and yet you forced it out of them. It’s very hold. As was your decision to represent them today, on your own. I trust you’ll do nothing to harm our cause.”
“Are you really gonna go behind Elijah’s back?” she questioned.
“Come on! What difference does it make to you as long as the wolves benefit?”
“If I find out that you are playing some game, trying to manipulate them for once of your schemes—“
Klaus interrupted her. “You know, you’ve come a long way. I knew you were tough. I knew you were cunning, but I never knew you were fit to be a queen,” he complimented her.
A large group of drummers marched into the party. Katherine, Elijah, and Klaus were confused, watching them, having not invited them. Then it made sense when the lead drummer announced, saying, “Happy Fête des Bénédictions. We have a message for all of you from Marcel Gerard.” All the drummers took out straight razors and sliced their wrists, bleeding all over the floor. The vampires in the room started to get artsy and vamp-out at the smell of blood.
“Control yourself. This is a vulgar trick,” Elijah told the vampires. He shouted to the crowd, “We do not violate our agreement.”
Suddenly, all the lights went out and the vampires started feeding on the drummers, as well as other humans at the party. The crowd was in chaos, the sound of humans screaming in terror. In the chaos, Klaus and Elijah lost sight of Katherine.
“Katerina!” Elijah called, but couldn’t hear her.
When the lights turned back on, there were dozens of dead and injured humans lying on the ground. On the walls, someone had written, “There Will Be No Peace.”
Klaus scanned the room for Katerina, while Elijah left to go find out where Marcel was at, knowing this was Marcel’s doing. When Klaus found her on the floor amongst the other humans, he blurred to her side.
“Katerina.” He gently pulled her into his arms. Though she’d been bitten, he knew she was still alive. He blurred to the compound with her and gently layed her down in his bed. He then sat on her bedside and bit his wrist, putting it to her lips to heal her, making his blood go down her throat. “Stay with me, Katerina.” He took his wrist away when he wound healed. He rested a gentle hand on the side of her face, looking down at her, waiting for her to come to.
Meanwhile, after finding Thierry and Marcel at Marcel’s loft, Elijah retaliated against what Marcel had done at the feast by ripping out Thierry’s heart as punishment. Then he left to go home.
At the cemetery, the witches gathered to discuss Genevieve’s fate.
“You failed us,” Monique stated.
“I told you. It will take time.”
“Do you think the ancestors care about your excuses? The vampires attacked us. We can’t retaliate until we possess our full strength. Your sacrifice is the final step.”
Monique held out the Harvest athame, and Genevieve began gasping due to Monique’s spell. Suddenly, the ancestors began channeling through Monique again.
Genevieve gasped. “What are they saying?”
“They told me to let you live. But in exchange, they want another offering. One of their choosing.”
“Tell me. Whatever it is they want, I will make sure they get it. I swear it,” Genevieve assured her.
“The ancestors want us to kill Klaus’ child.”
At that, Genevieve was shocked and afraid.
When Katherine finally woke up, Klaus was still there.
She sat up and he put a hand on her arm to help her.
“I suppose I have you to thank, so thank you.”
“Anything for you, Katerina, and our child, luv,” he replied with a smile.
It was such a moment, that they began to kiss.
