It was dark and quiet as we moved forward. Slowly, inching our way into the vast entirety of the universe. We've been travelling for quite some time now, if time existed that is. All I know is that we have sailed across countless stars in search of something we don't know if it was real. All we heard are stories read from walls passed down to us by our ancestors. It's been a long journey and it is pretty evident, the weariness we both had on our hands. After a hundred conversations, I dared to ask.
"Tell me something, do you really believe in Earth?"
He flicked his blue scarf with a retort, "What kind of question is that?"
His annoyance came from the fact that all this time we're travelling, passing through endless wonders. And I still had the audacity to ask.
"I mean, what if it's not real? What if we're on a search for something we'll never find? Don't tell me that thought never crossed your mind."
And he was silent for a moment, "Well, what do you believe in then?"
"I don't know," I replied with hesitation. "I don't know if there is a big rock filled with water somewhere in this black void with little beings wondering if there's a large steel machine floating in space looking for them. What are the chances? But maybe you're right. We've seen it all and the proof is all around us. Still, no one can say until…"
Before I could finish my sentences, he tapped me on my shoulder. Pointed forward until the tip of his finger touched a bright blue dot.
"Until we're there."
