Side by side. Hand in hand. He was her leader. She was his transportation. Together they could go anywhere, be anything. For in a child’s dream anything was possible.
With her father for guidance and comfort she was invincible.1163Please respect copyright.PENANAc6nDHnDbiN
. . .
Darrin watched her as she fell asleep. Her small features becoming soft and relaxed. She squirmed around so that she had her head cuddle in to his arm. He watched as Marissa approach them from the kitchen, she had a dish towel in her hands and was supporting a smile.
“ Ah my two favorite girls,” he said wrapping his one arm around her waist. She laughed, allowing him to pull her down beside himself and Christine. His two favorite women in the entire world, right here in his arms, excluding his mother of course. Marissa looked up still giggling quietly as to not wake up Christine
“And what bedtime stories did I miss tonight?” Her voice was a melody to his ears. He couldn’t wait to tell her of the adventures of Darrin the magnificent and his sidekick Christine. In their magical backhoe, they travelled across the universe, counting planets, colleting stardust. Starring down at planet earth, they could see their house and watched as mommy came out and waved at them from down low.
Christine had loved his story. Laughing at the part where the space doggie came out and played space fetch with them. And as his humorous storytelling would have it, he earned a laugh from Marissa as well.
“ Oh my, this is sooo bad!” She slapped his shoulder. He looked down at her, a glint in his eye.
“Don’t mock the storyteller! I got her to go to sleep, now your going to wake her up!” Christine squirmed slightly, mumbling mommy, in her sleep.
“You always do.” Marissa snuggled closer to her husband and child.
Sure they were young. Yes, too young for a child and she had heard all the peoples gossip. They said that Darrin would leave her, and look where he was now, holding his family in his arms. They said that their lives would be a mess, with no jobs and not enough support, but they were doing just fine. Here she was looking at a child that was hers, and always would be and a boy, no a man, who loved her and Christine.
This had been her child dream, for her to grow older in the arms of her husband with a kid that was theirs snuggled in between.
Her child dream had come true, now if only she could make a flying backhoe come true for Christine and Darrin’s dream.
. . .
With him she glided. Her daddy. He drove her through the sky. Up above where no one could reach her. As they soared, mommy joined them. She came in her little blue van with wings sprouting from the doors. She jumped onto the backhoe earning a hug and a kiss from both her and daddy. Together they could make it across the galaxy, avoiding asteroids and meeting the friendly green aliens.
