After a while, Sierra and I were getting used to our tails instead of legs.
I saw a hand print in the sand. I yelled to Sierra to check it out. I put my hand on it, and there was yet another glow. A tunnel appeared where the print was. I followed Sierra down and saw a whole bunch of other mermaids. "Woah!" We both exclaimed. There was a huge ocean in front of us. As we entered the strange, new place, I saw some sand leading up to the surface.
As soon as we made it it of the water and onto land, we saw the most amazing thing. There was a huge ocean, and we were standing on a trail of sand. There were no trees. It was a tiny beach. In front of us, there was a gate, saying "Welcome!". I couldnt believe any of it. But what even was this place? We started walking, and as we approached the welcome sign, a guard greeted us.
"Hello. I am Aaron. You must be new here." He said. "Yes, we are!" Said Sierra. "My name is Sierra, and this is my friend, Melissa. We did a spell and we turned into mermaids!" "Hey." I said. "Can you tell us what this place this?"
"Oh, of course! Well, you see, this is the cove. The tunnel you cane down is the emtrance. The hand print is a scanner that will open only if the person is a mermaid. If they are human, nothing happens. Its a place where mermaids come to hide from the government, but mostly just come here for fun."
"Government?!" We both shakily answered. "Yes, but only about 268/500 mermaids get caught every year. So you might have a chance of not getting experimented on." "Experimented?!" We both asked, still in shock. I didnt want to get experimented on. I was too young! But, it was worth it, right? "Here, let me give you a tour." Said Aaron.
And so we headed off.
