I joined Figment after hearing about it on Wattpad. And immediately saw how different it was. The users who I heard about the site from said that the feedback and reviews, some people could be pretty harsh on there. I guess I wanted to start afresh with some new projects. I did start one and plan another but by then, just a few days after my joining, my mind was pretty much made up. I wasn't going to put my Wattpad stories up there.608Please respect copyright.PENANAZv8v27PtHb
I'm not scared of constructive criticism. I was scared about the people giving it, not what they might say or do. Figment is definitely a site for those who have thick skin and I guessed that I failed miserably. I did get a couple of nice reviews which was great but again... the read my story spamming happened and boy was I not happy.608Please respect copyright.PENANAVIQgCQSK4a
When I finally said on a forum, "OK, I'm new, I want to give some new stories a try." I had over 50 users messaging me with review requests, some with multiple links. I was horrified. I couldn't do over 100 stories overnight, that was near impossible unless I pulled an all nighter but I had College the following day. It wasn't going to happen. Since then, I haven't been on. I don't want to delete my account because I stumbled onto some great writers on Figment that I follow and write great teen fictions but when you get spammed over and over again, it's annoying as hell.608Please respect copyright.PENANAQrnBWM8KSG
I saw some reviewers on Figment write really long six part reviews. That's right, six part reviews, you heard me correctly. Six separate posts with feedback spilt up between them, although the feedback was helpful to those receiving it, it got me thinking. How I write reviews is simple: I keep it short, sweet but it gets to the point. I don't ramble on for hours about changing this or changing that. When I made that review post, I think some Figment users wanted me to kind of write reviews like that and I hate to let them down but in no way do I write reviews like that.608Please respect copyright.PENANA0fr4hbXQMj
My advice before you join: Have thick skin, be prepared for long reviews and people posting on my message board with read requests.
