The mansion was enormous. And it was like the parthenon in Athens, but bigger. The gigantic doors were open, and it revealed a massive room with five chandeliers hanging on the ceiling. At the end of the room, two staircases led to a double door, which was open and dark inside.
One of the women who Chessy was with walked down the left staircase and stood in the middle.
There were probably 500 girls there, but the room was barely filled. That’s how big the hall was.
”Welcome to the Mansion. You’ll be cleaning this mansion as part of your Home Economics project, in preparation for a special visit tomorrow. Since Family Day happens next week, we have invited your dearest parents to stay here until the end of family day. Oh, and if you don’t know me yet, I am Nona, your headmistress’s sister. Now if you need anything feel free to approach me. Now start cleaning!” The woman, or Nona rather, said.
Half of the girls ran up the stairs, and some stayed in the hall.
I noticed two doors on each side of the hall, one on the left and one on the right. I went to the one on the right and saw Frida and Eli already cleaning.
It was a large dining area. Two more chandeliers, and a table long enough to fit twelve people. Gold plates and silverwares were put for each of those twelve seats, and three candle holders holding three candles each were placed on the table. The walls had more candles, and vines with different flower species hung on the wall from the ceiling.
”Alice! Sorry to disappoint, but came here and finished here first. Maybe try another room?” Eli said to me.
I agreed to leave and went to the other door opposite to the dining hall.
Inside it was a large library, with a staircase leading to three more floors of books.
There was probably only one person there, since I hear footsteps coming from the higher floors.
I took a rag from a girl distributing them and started wiping off dust from the shelves.
A minute later, Redy entered the room with two feather dusters and handed one to me.
”Heard you were here. I’m really sorry about the mess at the dorm, but please don’t tell anyone I said sorry.” She said.
”Oh umm, thanks I guess.” I said.
The footsteps got louder. I think the person is on the second floor now.
”I guess someone’s cleaning upstairs?” She said.
I nodded my head and continued to dust the shelves.
”Look, I’ll head upstairs and help out that person. Go with me if you want.” I said.
There was something in me that didn’t like Redy’s vibes. It was like bloodlust. A violent aura surrounded her, or something like that.
I walked upstairs and saw that Redy decided to follow me. I was kind of disappointed, but it was fine.
As I reached the top, I saw a man in a white toga and sandals taking books from the shelves and stuffing it into a linen bag.
”Excuse me, what are you doing with those books?” I shouted at him.
He looked at me with his soulless blue eyes and dropped the bag he was holding.
”Wait, I can explain.” He said as he grabbed something from his side.
So this is how it feels to catch someone steal something.
