I walked behind Frida and Eli as they ranted about why I shouldn't have slept in the mansion.
"I mean, seriously! Are you out of your mind, Alice?" Frida said.
"What's so important about them? Not like they're the gods or anything." I said.
Eli's face turned pale with fear. Frida lit up in anger.
"I'll go get some food. Haha." Eli said and ran off.
"Watch what you say, Alice!" Frida shouted.
"I just took a simple nap!"
The students looked at us in confusion. Some began to murmur, and the others just left.
"You don't have to keep lecturing me about it." I said.
It was really getting annoying. People were still looking at us. It's like I'm the center of attention everyday. I just want to withdraw into the darkness and stay there.
But of course, being me, I just walked back to the dorms instead of the classrooms. I didn't care what Chessy, or Nona, or anyone would say.
I walked past the murmuring students and past the teachers who tried to stop me in my tracks. It was 9 a.m and I didn't want anyone to be a bitch about what I'm doing.
After thirty minutes of avoiding teachers and pushing students, I entered my dorm and sat on the couch.
"Fuck this life. Why'd I even agree on going here?"
I took off my shoes and threw it to the wall.
"Oh right! I was forced here by some dumb police man named Dahlia!" I screamed. I shouted and thrashed and wailed like a banshee out in the middle of nowhere. I broke a vase and threw the roses in it in the burning stove.
"Why am I even throwing a tantrum? The hell's wrong with me."
I looked around in the kitchen and saw spaghetti on the counter. Freshly cooked. Eli, Frida, and Ready leaves the dorm at 6 a.m, so there was no way they cooked that.
"You're very temperamental for a girl." A voice said.
I looked around and found no one.
"Up here, Alice."
I looked upend saw a spider.
"HOLY SHIT!" I ran to the door and slapped myself. A talking spider. Great, I really am crazy now.
I looked back at the spider and a black mist began to envelope it. A second later, a woman appeared.
She had long slender fingers and striking black hair. Her red eyes stared at me with grief and insanity.
"I guess you know who I am?" the woman said.
"Oh my god... I'm going insane- DON'T TOUCH ME!... A spider I-i-i-into a h-human. What?" I struggled to speak in fear of my life and sanity.
"Very sorry if I bothered you. You should be at school, right? Hi, I'm Arachne. Weird. You should know who I am. They teach you halflings about me. Ya know, at school?" She said.
I screamed even louder.
Arachne jumped at me and covers my mouth. She reeks of food, death, and bugs. It was disgusting.
"Shhhh. They don't know I'm here."
I simply nodded due to the fact that her hand smelled bad, and she did too.
"You must have some questions. Everyone does. Bring em up."
"Well, I-I-I don't know. Umm how?" I said. I was trying to get myself to calm down. But she was a spider. Not Spiderman, because he was just bitten by one. Arachne was a literal spider.
"I dunno. Athena turned me into one. I just found out how to undo it for a time, thanks to Hecate."
"Athena? Hecate? Aren't they-"
"Myths? No sweetie. They're- Wait, no one over told you?"
I calmed down. She seemed sweet and talkative. And she began to calm down now too. I relaxed myself and sat normally on the floor. Arachne walked to me and sat down next to me, like she was my friend now. Fun fact: she is.
"About what?"
"About everything. This school, the mansion, and you."
"Would you tell me?"
"In one condition: Be a good girl and be quiet that I'm here. And erm..
Be my friend?" She said.
"Deal!"
