“...I love you...”
Ashylnn stiffened thé words making her giddy but also weary, she didn’t know what to say but push him away and avoid his gaze. “Ash?” He asked concerned.
She bit her lip remembering the last time somebody told her they loved her, “go home...please...” she mumbled, Damon looked at her confused and worried.
“what why? What’s wrong?”
“Just...please.” She held back tears and he nodded before grabbing his bag and leaving, she wanted to take back her demand for him to leave but she needed space.
After she heard the front door shut from downstairs she let go and the tears fell like a house on flowers, she couldn’t help it and she fell to her knees.
“I can’t do this...”
Ashylnn frowned as she made her way to the council room, her phone dinged as a message from Damon showed up no the screen. She glanced at it and ignored it knowing she’d end up telling him.
“There you are!” Hailee shouted as ashylnn walked in, “hey” she smiled fakely. Hailee grinned “soo, new idea. Still doing the haunted house but we’re going to need more help” she started, ashylnn nodded listening as she sat her bag down.
“How about we get the athletic council to help out with the jump scares” she finished, ashylnn nodded before realizing that meant Damon too and she sighed “sure.” She replied.
Hailee raised an eyebrow and grinned as regina eyed her with worry in her eyes, she knew something was up. Danielle of course hadn’t noticed and was glued to her phone like usual typing furiously.
“Hey ashy wanna help me with the sigh outside?” Regina asked, ashylnn smiled “sure” she replied getting up from her seat and joining her outside. Painting and sports always did cheer her up and Regina knew that since the day they met in 3rd grade.
“So what colors are you thinking?” Ashylnn asked grabbing a paintbrush and looking at the already painted black wood slab that would be the sign.
“Well since it’s a haunted house I was thinking red, and maybe if your willing to add small little quotes around the title that say ‘jumpsacres!’ Or things like that” she explained. Ashylnn smiled “you got it! Let’s get to work”
Ashylnn sighed as she grabbed her bag and left the school trying to avoid the dojo as much as she could, “hey ashy!” A voice rang out. “Shit” she mumbled glancing at the dojo, Damon had looked up as Regina ran towards her.
He caught sight of her and started to make his way towards her when she grabbed Regina and yanked her away from the dojo, he stopped and sighed.
“What was that about?” Regina asked as they walked home together, ashylnn sighed “promise you won’t tell the others?” She asked. “Done” she said as they locked pinkies and kissed thumbs.
“Okay now explain.” Regina encouraged.
Ashylnn took a deep breathe and hooked arms with her “I may or may not be involved with Damon” she started, Regina giggled “called it”
Ashylnn chuckled and frowned “well...the other day...he told me he loved me...” she continued, regina’s genuine smile dissipated and she frowned. “Oh. I see where this is going...” she said.
Ashylnn frowned “so I don’t have to finish?” She asked, Regina nodded. “But. I would encourage you to tell him about that, that way he doesn’t feel like he’s being ghosted” she said with a sad smile.
Ashylnn sighed and nodded “mind if I come over and stay with you tonight?” Regina asked, ashylnn smiled.
