"MOMMY! MOMMY! WAKE UP!" A small childlike voice that sounded like a thousand angels drifted into my ears, I rolled over opening my eyes slightly to see sera smiling brightly. "What is it sera?" I asked in genuine curiosity. She giggled "look at the necklace daddy made me!" She said cheerfully, her eyes were bright blue and full of sunshine's and rainbows. As for Jake and i's...ever since I froze the whole world in time...our eyes weren't as sunshiny and rainbowy as it used to be.
Jake stepped into the room and plastered a smile on his face "what do you think?" He asked, sera swayed back and fourth on her heels as I inspected the necklace. It was her size with an ice locket, my finger touched something and it popped open before my eyes caught a glimpse of our family photo. I looked at Jake in awe and smiled sadly "it's beautiful" I said handing the necklace back to sera as she took it and skipped out of the room.
Jake sighed and leaned against the doorframe with a frown "have you found a way to-" "no" I cut him off "I haven't. It's been 4 years and I still haven't found a way to unfreeze time..." I said my throat starting to fill with tears. Jake walked over and sat on the bed pulling me against his chest "shhh it's okay, we'll figure it out." He mumbled, I pushed him away "no Jake. We've been at this for four years. We keep saying the same thing and we never accomplish anything!" I shouted. Jake looked at me with worry and sighed "I know but it's better to live positive for sera's sake" he said. I rubbed my temples "I know...I'm trying...I really am...but I have a feeling that she knows...we never let her outside the mansion...and we blocked all the windows off so she can't see! She's four!" I looked at him in frustration.
Jake frowned "I know...but...life is life..." he said, I growled "well then life is hell." I glared at left the room towards the bathroom, Jake followed "heart! Please! We can't be negative around her!" He said. I whipped around towards him "I know Jake! Like you said life is life! And life. Means she needs to know what negativity is." I shouted slamming the door.
I heard a sigh from the other side of the door and then his footsteps faded away, I slid down the cool wood and curled into a ball. Ever since the world lost its time...all him and I have ever done was fight and argue when sera wasn't around...we fought over sera, over me staying up looking for a solution and not getting sleep, over anything...I feel like were growing apart and it feels like something was wrenched from my heart.
I yawned and made my way down the stairs towards the first floor of the mansion after taking a relaxing bath and cracked my neck, sera was playing on the living room floor with the dolls I used to play with when I was young and I smiled before turning towards the library. I stopped when I noticed something carved into the wood, I raised an eyebrow and looked closer.
'Spells for the dreary'
I stared at the words with confusion until it clicked it was talking about the rare spell book full of any spell in existence. "But...that's so far away..." I mumbled, Jake stopped midway on the stairs and raised an eyebrow "something wrong?" He asked, I smiled falsely and shook my head before quickly running into the library and looking in the map section.
"Mommy?" Sera said from behind, I jumped and turned towards her "when did you get in here?" I asked, she smiled sweetly "a couple minutes ago...what are you doing?" She asked. I sighed and crouched down to her level "darling...I'm...leaving for a while..." I said, her eyes widened and she hugged me tightly "no...don't go it's dangerous..." she cried. I frowned and hugged her back before my words from earlier came back to me 'she needs to know!' I sighed "hey sera...how about you come with me.." I said, sera smiled through her tears "yay! But...what about daddy..." she quickly started crying again. "Will bring daddy too...don't worry..." I said, she nodded and hugged me.
"Ready?" Jake asked, I nodded "ready. What about you sera?" I asked looking at Sarah in her cute hiking outfit, she nodded cheerfully "piggy back daddy!" She said, he chuckled and hoisted her onto his back before nodding at me and I nodded back before opening the doors and stepping into the light. I winced and looked around everyone still frozen in time, I frowned as we walked through them and sera watched in awe.
"Mommy...why does that man look like you..?"
