I sighed as we walked through the forest, Jake was nodding off and sera was passed out on his shoulder I smiled slightly before frowning “hey Jake...” I mumbled, Jake looked at me with a quirked eyebrow “yeah?”
I bit my lip before smiling reassuringly “nevermind...” I said, he frowned and switched sera to a different arm before grasping my hand gently “Whats wrong? You obviously have something on your mind” he said, I frowned “what if I can’t undo my own spell...we’re going to be so lonely and sera needs friends...she can’t live by herself for too long” I said gloomily. Jake squeezed my hand “but she’s not alone...” he smiled “I know but- she needs friends...not just her family Jake” I retaliated.
He sighed and nodded “I know...and don’t worry I’m positive you’ll be able to reverse the spell. After all you’re capable of doing anything you ever wanted” he smiled. I nodded with a smile and yawned before groaning “Lets set up camp. It’s hot and I need to change out of this outfit for once” I complained, Jake chuckled and nodded.
After setting up Jake sat in the tent with sera as she slept while I went to find an open enough spot to make an ice covering around me so I could change. I peeled the skirt off and unzipped my top removing the bows from my back and chest before pulling on a pair of shorts and a ripped British styled t-shirt. I pulled my curly blonde hair into a ponytail along with tying my converse before disintegrating the ice covering and returning to the tent.
I stepped in smiling at the sight of Jake and sera cuddled up next to each other, I yawned and cuddled up next to them staring up at the ceiling of the tent before letting my eyes flutter shut and falling into a dreamless sleep.
“Hey mommy, when are we gonna be there?” Sera complained as she rode on my shoulders. Jake raised an eyebrow as he glanced at me probably wondering the same thing. I bit my lip and sighed “I don’t know sera...soon hopefully” I smiled reassuringly. Sera frowned and let her chin rest on my head as we walked, Jake took my hand just as I noticed a symbol on the ground.
I let go of his hand taking sera off my shoulders and placing her on the ground as she grabbed Jake’s hand, I looked at the symbol crouching down and moving some vines aside.
Jake watched as sera watched curiously “what is it mommy?” She asked, I smiled slightly “I think were here” I said grabbing her hand “let’s go” I said, Jake chuckled and followed.
As soon as my foot hit the symbol the forest disappeared being replaced by a galaxy around us, sera whined holding onto my shirt as Jake and I held her close.
A small figure appeared in front of us as she glided towards us, she had wings the size of a dog shimmering brightly. The fae smiled as she hovered above the ground in front of us, “you must be heartless...” she said in a gracefully smooth voice. I raised an eyebrow “how do you know who I am...?” I snapped. She laughed “darling I was friends with your mother...now for the important reason why your here...” she said trailing off.
I frowned and Jake watched her intently holding onto sera tightly “your here for that book aren’t you....?” She asked, I glared and nodded “I thought so...well. Unfortunately in order to pass through and continue to the next ruins you can only be a party of two” she explained. My eyes widened “wh-what? No. I am not leaving anyone behind.” I said.
She frowned “then you cannot pass.” She said, I frowned sucking in my teeth before looking at jake who shared the same worried face before nodding. I frowned and crouched down to sera. “Sera...darling. I’m going to need you to stay here.” I said, sera frowned bursting into tears and grabbing ahold of me “nooooo” she cried.
I frowned “I’m sorry darling. But that nice fairy over there will take care of you. I want you to be safe and you want be safe if you continue on with us...” I explained, sera hiccuped and sniffled “fine...” she sobbed before I lead her to the fae. “Fine. She can stay. But take care of her and do NOT hurt her.” I snapped. The fae nodded with a smile before grabbing sera’s hand and pulling her away from us before disappearing into thin air.
The galaxy disappeared and we returned to the real world before I broke out into tears and hugged Jake “it’s gonna be okay, she’ll be safe.” He reassured me.
I nodded and let my arm slide down his before grasping his hand wiping my eyes and plastering a frown onto my face “alright let’s go” I said. Jake nodded as we started walking before the ground started to rumble, I stopped listening before a giant bear the size of an extinct dinosaur came from out of the trees. “WHAT THE ABSOLUTE FUCK IS THAT!?” Jake yelled taken aback before it started to open its mouth the roar at us “I don’t know...BUT I THINK WE SHOULD RU-“ I was cut off as the bear growled the impact of it’s breathe slamming us against trees and rocks.
“DAMMIT! HOW ARE WE SUPPOSED TO GET PAST THAT”.
