Before you read this book, please read my author's note! Every author's note is especially important. First off, welcome to my book! Thank you for choosing this Maze Runner book. This is my first work on Quotev/ Penana or on any public writing/reading site, to be frank. To start off, I would like to introduce myself a bit. I'm a Maze Runner fan! I love the books.
My story is a combination of both movie and book. I strongly reccomand you to read and watch them, but even you haven't done both, you can still sit back and enjoy the story! I plan on writing a trilogy of the Maze Runner series. The books will include scenes from both movie & book. Other than that, sit back, grab a drink, and enjoy the story
Aris felt himself swimming to consciousness. He was lying on a metal board, he was certain of it. He had no idea where he was, why he was here for whatever reason. He drew in a sharp breath, unable to feel his fingers anymore--and all he recalled was one person.
Rachel.
He'd screamed that name in his head, tried to feel some connection. But she hadn't replied in his head. He wanted to cry, but that wouldn't be effective; he was entrapped wherever he was. He wanted to flee, and he could, frankly, with the straps not on him.
He finally forced his body to shift, to prop himself up. A shaft of sunlight spilled through the tiny cracks above; he gripped the cracks of the sides with his fingers. Rachel, he murmured in her mind. She continued with tortured screams, and he finally severed the connection.
It was finally until every black spot replaced his vision

Aris opened his eyes, fear radiating off him. He was in a tiny room, he could tell--or at least a decently sized bedroom, or something like that. A utensil was in front of his mouth, and his lips parted slightly, opening it with devouring it. He murmured incoherently, gulping down the warm liquid.
He heard the door close with a gentle click; then, he sat up. "Everything is going to change," he said. It felt like someone's else voice, however; he couldn't been speaking that sentence. "Everything is going into transform into horror." He pleaded with his tongue to not say it, but he'd said them, anyway.
The door burst open, and two girls emerged from another place before the door closed with a gentle click. "You know this boy, Rachel? You just told me he was speaking to you with telepathy!" one of the girls said. The girl--Rachel?--lifted her heard tentatively.
She looked petrified. Aris wanted to tell her he'd seen her in his memory, but didn't want to scare her off. "Course not!" Aris finally said. "We never knew each other! Who the hell are you?" His eyes slightly at the girl, Rachel. She looked gorgeous, alluring--
He snapped out of his trance. "Uh, hey," he managed to get out. Rachel lifted her head to face him, and so did the girl beside her, who strode up to his bed. She eyed him closely, suspiciously. "What are you doing, talking about me?" he continued to ask.
The girl fumed. "What are you doing here? You're male--WICKED couldn't have shipped you up here. Sent up the wrong child." She glanced at Rachel. "Well, then, secure him in the Cell, then, before we decide what to do with him." She seemed thoughtful. "While he may be a spy, he may also be of some use."
"Harriet, let him rest," Rachel said with insistence. "He hasn't done anything....yet. Give him a chance, let me talk to him. Please. " The girl eyed Rachel closely, before slamming the door and striding off. Rachel finally locked eyes with him, her eyes were filled with consolation.
Aris sat up, but before he could say anything, the girl, Harriet, emerged from the outside again. "Hear me out, Rachel. I'm very highly suspicous of him." She fished out a pair of handcuffs, snapped them onto his wrists and shoved him out of the room. "You can speak to him in the Cell." Rachel rolled her eyes, but guided him out of the door, anyway.
Now that Aris was outside, he could see it was a cabin when he was inside in, designed from logs, and several shards of glass that fitted formed windows. Rachel didn't let his glance around, before ushering down the corridors of the area and into the dark space. There were several lined-up cells along, most of female children gripping the bars, howling, crying out, the walls, and Rachel unbolted one of them.
"In you go," she told him. Gripping the bars, she pulled herself up. "Look, I'll ask about your release. Now, tell me everything! I mean, you were mumbling nothingness before you woke, said that everything is going to end--" Aris could hear and feel the panic in her voice.
Aris lifted his hands defensively. "Okay, okay, I'll tell you everything!" Then, he informed Rachel of how he just woke up. "I--I don't know anything," he finally admitted. Except he did feel a sense of familiarity overcome him. "Well, how long am I going to spend here?"
A knock drew his attention to the door and Harriet poked her head in, smirked. "It is very dependent on when you're going to assist us in escaping the Maze." Then, she shut off the lights of the corridor, with only a single lightbulb on.
