Aris excused himself and requested his supper to be delivered to the Map Igloo. He sat at a desk, illumnated by a lantern, as he inspected the letters. A knock drew his attention to the door and a girl positioned a trayful of food on his desk. He scooped up the stew.
He stared at the blocky letters. For some strange reason, the terms were repetitive, like some letters kept forming Spring. His heart thumped against his chest, as he peered over at the 3-D structure of the Maze in front of him. Something was beginning to occur.
He knew now, for certain, they had to flee from here. Anything at all, they'd have to. Something would end, eventually. His head throbbed, and he xited the Map Igloo, after devouring the bowl of stew and a grimy apple. Hurrying out of the Map Igloo, he collided into someone.
Abruptly, the girl rested each hand on his cheek. He froze momentarily, feeling Rachel's warmth next to him, before she was shoved aside. Another girl stepped up to him, her lips already capturing his, hands brushing against his cheeks, and he didn't recognize the coolness of hands, which meant it was someone else. Oh, no. Please, don't let it be Harriet.... He risked a glance up to see Rachel tackling the other girl to the snowed ground.
Sonya.
He exhaled a breath. Even conealed with snow, she looked breathtaking, her tornado of blond hair whirling around, as she shoved Rachel aside. He averted his gaze to the ground, watching the girls battle from the corner of his eye, a tiny smile curved into his lips. 310Please respect copyright.PENANAgLGzqsoEZX
I'm so sorry. I couldn't resist it. You...are so soft. I love you so much. Rachel was sobbing in his mind, letting out ragged, trembling breaths. He risked a stare up, spying Rachel staring at him with red, puffy eyes, as she looked at him with remorse registering on his face. She must have watched Sonya or whoever kisses me, he thought.
He retreated to his cabin, securing the door behind him. He was too fatigued, too perplexed, too shocked, to do anything else. But his eyes refused to grow heavy, and all he did was stare at the shaft of light from the lantern before he felt someone's warmth beside him.
Sorry for such a short chapter. I will just be writing snippets, because, well, school's starting. And I'm really excited to get onto Book 2. I hope you enjoy it so far.
