Snicket yawned, sitting up. He stretched, rubbing his eyes. "Where...?" He blinked, remembering where he was, and what he had done the night before. Snicket frowned, looking down at his hands. "I killed Stew..." He thought, realization slowly dawning on him. "AND ATE HIM...!" Panic flared in his mind briefly. He inhaled slowly and exhaled. "It's fine...I killed Stew in the dead of night...No one was around." Snicket thought. Hunger gnawed at him, but he ignored it. "Good Morning Sleepyhead!" He looked up to see Moxie, holding some folded-up clothes. "Here, get dressed." She tossed Snicket his clothes. "And come downstairs after." Moxie smiled warmly at him. "I'm making breakfast." Snicket nodded as Moxie left so he could get dressed.
Later Snicket came downstairs, greeted with the smell of cinnamon and vanilla. "Here." Moxie handed him a plate of pancakes, and a fork. "Hurry and eat." She said, untying the apron she was wearing, hanging it up. "We meeting Jake and the others." Snicket gave her a puzzled look. "Why?" Moxie frowned. "Apparently...Stew Mitchum was murdered last night. Pip and Squeak found his body, or what was left of it, on the side of the road." Snicket put down the plate of pancakes. "Let's go." Moxie blinked, puzzled. "Okay..." They left Moxie's house, finding Jake and the others outside. 293Please respect copyright.PENANAnATHhRyPA8
Cleo drove Jake, Moxie, and Snicket to where Jake had discovered the body. When the group arrived, Pip and Squeak were already there. The smell of old blood and rotting flesh hung in the air. Moxie paled when she saw the corpse. "Are we sure it's him?" Cleo asked, looking as if she might be sick. "Look, in the grass." Pip pointed to a blood-stained slingshot. "That's Stew's slingshot. It's him alright." He said.
Later that night, Snicket wandered through Stain'd-by-the-Sea again, lost in thought. "Where are you walking to, Mr. Snicket?" A voice behind him asked. Turning around to face the owner of the voice, Snicket found himself face-to-face with Ellington Feint. She smiled, Snicket did not. Ellington looked up at the night sky. "The moon is such a peculiar color tonight, wouldn't you agree Mr. Snicket?" She asked. Snicket scowled. "Ms.Feint," He warned. "If I were you, I wouldn't want to be anywhere near me." Ellington blinked. "Why not, Mr. Snicket?" She followed him as he walked in the other direction. "Stew Mitchum was found dead today." Ellington gasped at this. "Did they find who killed him?" She asked. Snicket chuckled darkly, taking a towards her. "You're looking at him!" He lunged at her. Ellington's scream echoed through Stain'd-by-the-Sea.
