Chapter 3
~Winter’s POV~
Hey, I know im new to the crew but i thought you should know more about me. Well lets start where when i first met Mars, I was at the park making a plan to do something and i saw her, she seemed alone. I thought it would be useless to talk to her since i was about to carry out this plan. I dont know why i did it but i went over to her and started conversation, “Yo, I’m Winter..but my b- friends call me Wolfy, and you are?” She had looked at me and her eyes showed no emotion.
“Marissa. You can call me Mars or M.” She had said, looking down.
“Oh Hey! So how are you today?” I say trying to enthusiastic and hide my depression as i spoke.
“Crap...”
“W-why is that if i may ask?”
“I’m just done with this stupid abusive family and people at my school hating me.”
“I-I get that…” I say thinking back to my old family..it was horrible..
“Can ya go...i need to finish something…” She looked to the side, her voice dull now.
“Y-yeah my apologies ma’am” I say shying away. I regretted all my decisions to go up to her, all i ever do is screw up what made this time different?
“I just need to find my pocket knife.” I heard her whisper as a walked away.
“I-its right beside on you on the ground” I yell behind me. She jumped and looked at me.
“HOW DID YOU HEAR ME?!?!”
“I- what do yo mean?”
“You heard me whisper…”
“N-no…” I say nervous, i cant tell my secret “I didnt..”
“Well, thanks anyways…” I saw her grab the knife. I watched for a while to make sure she would do anything bad with it. I saw her bring it up to her neck.
“HEY!, please don't..” I say rushing in, I grabbed the knife and threw it. She just looked at me.
“Why did you do that?!?!”
“..B-because i care.”
“Why would you care about me? Im just a random stranger”
“Because….I want to do something for someone before i go visit Cay Cay..” I say like a child.
“Cay Cay?” She said. I looked and she actually had a kind look in her eyes.
“M-my older brother..”
“Well judging by how you talked about him he has passed… so...you were gonna do what i was gonna do weren't you?”
“N-no...h-hes at home...waiting?” I said wishing it was true.
“How about this... if we agree to be friends...then we promise never to do any of that?”
“O-okay..” I say looking down and back up at her smiling a bit. She smiled at me, actually looking happy.
That is basically how I met my best friend of all time. But i disappeared for a while, i never told her i would leave i just disappeared. Now im back with her, and she seems totally different on how she acts now. Especially around the weird red eyed demon looking person. I don't know the other people but the Foxy guy seems to not like me much. I mean i did kinda come out of nowhere.
“Winter?” I heard Marissa say beside me. I look over at her. “Ya alright?”
“I-Im fine” i smile at her snapping out of my daze.
“No you’re no-” She stopped, her face going red. She shook her head and looked at me.” Your not alright i-i can t-tell.”
“Just thinking girl”
“O-Ok…” She looked down, her face still red.
“C-an i ask something”
“Sure.”
“W-whos the guy with the blond hair?” I ask blushing a little bit.
“Oh...the one who pushed the other guy in the fountain? That’s Jaden.”
“O-oh nice..” I say shrinking a bit looking at this Jaden for awhile.
“Yeah...he is really nice…” She looked up again and she turned an even brighter red. I finally looked at where she was looking and saw that red eyed guy. He was all wet, sitting on the edge of the fountain. He had his shirt off, trying to wring it out.. I wonder why….Oooooh. I laugh and look at her.
“So who is the red eyed guy?”
“Oh...Umm...T-that’s Fell. H-He is a f-friend of mine...I m-mean more than t-that...I mean I-I dont k-know for s-sure.”
“Oh my gawd Mars” I say laughing
“W-what?”
“You have a major stuttering problem, did you develop that while i was gone?”
“N-no...Just w-when I look a F-fell...like t-that…” She points to him again. I guess she has never seen him like that. At least she is not making fun of my crush on the Jaden guy
“So...you sure you two are not a thing?”
“I actually don't know for sure.” She looks away, her stuttering going away.
“I can ask for you…” I say winking at her.
“W-what?!” She looked at me, her face full of shock.
“I. Can. Go. Ask. For. You.” I say slowly, starting to walk away.
“Y-you don’t have t-to do that…” She said, looking down.
“Nope, i dont have to, but i'm going to.” I say smiling and walking faster. Marissa knows once i start doing something i will not stop. I walk over to Fell and sit by him, not sayings word. He looks at me and just slightly waves. I wave back and smile, “I got a question..”
“What is it? Please don’t ask me why I am all wet.”
“I know why, you saw Mars...but are yall in a relationship?”
“I FELL in a fountain, not that. Well...I mean I kissed her earlier.”
“Yes or No Red eyed demon?”
“I thought we were… I mean I said I love you to her and she said it back but I think she was in shock.”
“SO yes?”
“ I guess.”
“Good, now what do you know about Jaden?”
“Besides him being weird, nothing.”
“Dang…” I say looking down, i saw i had cuts in my jeans for some reason, i didnt notice those before.
“Ask Sweetheart later. Which how is she?”
“Flustered by your shirtless bod.”
“She...likes my body?”
“Well I think since she is about to die from looking at you then yes.”
“Well...I guess If she let me-”
“Shhh..”
“What?”
“I hear the sound of an idiot”
“Oh shut up. I’m in love with her ok? I have the right to think of her that way.”
“Shhh, now i hear a pervert…” I say holding back a laugh, “Where are these voices coming from?”
“I think from your fantasy boyfriend.”
“Heyy! I don't have a fantasy boyfriend!”
“Ok, well anyways why did you ask that before?”
“Ask what?”
“If Sweetheart and I were dating.”
“Cause she didn't know if you were or not, she was unsure.”
“Really?”
“That's why i came over here..”
“Well, you can tell her that she is mine. No one will take her from me.”
“Heh...okay yandere” i say about to walk away.
“I am not that weird anime thing.”
“..You actually know what that is?!” I say, i havent met much people who get that reference.
“I watch some anime with Sweetheart. I really dont pay attention until she askes me then i do.”
“Makes sense...well i should probably gooo..” I say as i see Jaden walking over.
“Can I come over with you to M?”
“Mhm!” I say quickly getting up.. I grab his wrist and dragging him.
“H-HEY! LET GO OF MY WRIST!!”
“NOT TILL IM AWAY FROM THE HOT GUY!” I said immediately stopping and covering my mouth, did i say that out loud? I looked back briefly and saw Jaden froze but quickly snapped out of it and smiled at me winking. I blushed even more turning around and running to Mars. I see Marissa look up and her face went red.
“Storm! What are you doing with Fell!?!?!” She yelled, covering her face with her hoodie.
“G-getting away from Jaden and confirming something..”
“Comfering what?”
“YALLS RELATIONSHIP!”
“H-huh?!” She looked up at me, her hair over her eyes making her look way older than she is...and kinda scary.
“Y’all obviously love each other.”
“U-uhh...I n-never...I mean uhh I…” She kept stuttering like she was broken.
“Imaaa just...cya!” I say backing up away from the love birds.
“W-wait! I-” Mars tried to run to me but Fell grabbed her, pulling her to him. I think he will treat her well...hopefully. I keep watching them as i sat down on the fountain. I relaxed a bit with myself and my thoughts, i thought about Tyler, i wonder where he is at this moment..its been years since the family had been together, he left after our foster family did their thing and left me behind. I was so upset, and barely forgave him, he left and didnt look back, just me a helpless kid staring into the sky as he left. I wonder if he even remembers me. Probably not, its been 7-8 years by now. I would love to see him again, but I dont know if i would recognize him or if he would recognize me. He’s probably back with the gang that got me hurt, at this point i wouldnt care, i just want to hug him again.
“Winter!!!” I looked up and saw Mars running to me. “ I need help!”
“Whats up Mars?” I say looking up from my thoughts.
“Well...I- Just.come!” She grabbed my hand and dragged me over to Fell. I followed and stopped in front of Fell, “So whats the prob?”
“You might hate me for this later…” Fell whispered to me. “ But think I owe you this.” He looked at me and smiled. I looked at him in confusion.
“What? What did you do-” I stoped when i saw an red mist around my body, making me float in the air. I look at Fell to see his eye glowing, the red mist around it too. “HEY YA IDIOT PUT ME DOWN!!!”
“TIME FOR THERAPY WINTER!!! I SAY YOUR THERPIST IS MY BLOND FRIEND JADEN!!” Marissa yelled, point over to Jaden. She looked and nodded to Fell and he flung me over to Jaden.
“MARS!! Noo!” I yelled as i spread my wings catching myself in the air.The red mist came around me again and forced me over to Jaden. I am going to kill Fell later. I fell in front of Jaden as he looked down at me i blushed, what now?! I can just run right? No, Fell would push me back over there. I could..teleport. Jaden said, leaning over a bit
“Uhh, are you ok? What is this red mist around you?”
“I-I dont know..ill be fine tho.” I said, trying to break away from this.
“Umm...you want help?”
“Y-yeah, please and thank you.”
“Should i force it now Sweetheart?” I heard Fell whisper to Mars from far away. Ya know my hearing is good.
“W-wait force what?!” I yell to them struggling even more.
“It’s up to you.” Marissa said.
“Oh really~?” I did not like the way he said that.
“Fell! I swear to god if you do something bad i will ki-” I was stoped cause I was force up again, my lips touching Jaden’s. Jaden was in pure shock but held me close not letting me fall. My eyes were wide with shock, i didnt know what to do.
“Fell...you are going to die now i know it” i heard Marissa whisper to him, laughing nervously but also worried in her voice. I tried to say something but Jaden just pulled me close and whisepered in my ear, “Dont worry about them, this is for us, not for them.” He says softly, i relaxed and just layed my head on his chest but not without giving Marissa and Fell the evil eye. Jaden snuggled me even closer to the point i thought he couldnt pull me in any closer. I could feel my cheeks growing even redder when i felt his heartbeat beating through his chest. It was calming a i relaxed more and closed my eyes savoring the moment.
“WOW! JADEN ISN’T A GUY BOI!” I hear Mars and a different guy yell in unison. I guess Z.
“Not everyone is gay here Mars.” Jaden says calmly back as he kisses the top of my forehead as he holds me down.
“Yeah, and for awhile you guys thought i was lesbo for some reason.”
“YOU SHAVED YOUR HAIR ONCE!” Jaden yelled.
“And you never had great luck with guys…” Foxy chimes in walking over.
“Uhh….i confirm or deny-”
“You know its true sweetheart” Fells says, we laugh even I was laughing and i was not in greatest mood with thinking about my brother.
“So what do you guys wanna do?” I say squirming out of Jadens arms.
“How about the truth or dare game?” Foxy says.
“YESH! I LIVE FOR T OR D!” Z yells running and jumping on Foxy shaking and begging him to play.
“Uhh...what’s that game?” Fell asked. Seriously, did this guy live in a cave?!
“...Well its a game where you ask truth or dare, if you say truth the person asks you a question and you have to answer truthfully, if you choose dare you have to do as they say.” I explain thinking back to all the times me and my brothers played to pass time. I smiled at the memory.
“Ok...sounds like a very weird human game but I’ll do it.”
“Yes!” Z says running over and sliding into a sitting position on the ground and smiling like a toddler, i laughed so much, i haven't laughed this much in years!
“So...who is going first?” Mars said, but I could tell she was nervous. I look and feel was still confused and not amused at the idea of the game.
“I will” Jaden says standing up, “Winter, truth or dare?” he asks winking.
“D-dare..” I say blushing under his gaze.
“Oh jeez” I hear Mars whisper laugh. “ Love sick Wolfy”
“I-I am not lovesick!” I say blushing in embarrassment, wow i sure do blush easily
“Well, Wolfy, you and Jaden earlier said otherwise.” Fell said, smiling in a creeoy way and showing...sharp teeth?!
“I- N- Uh...F- AHH” I say hiding my face in my hands and burying my face in in my lap, “J-just whats the dare Jaden..” I say trying to get it over with.
“Come here..” He says as he pulls me away and whispers in my ear. I nodded and went back over to the group and smiled in satisfaction. “So...Z Truth or Dare?” I say turning to Z.
“Truth, why the hell not?”
“Are you and the Orange haired fox dating? You tackled him earlier.” I ask.
“Uhhh...yeah. We are.” He said, pulling Foxy to him,” This is my Baby Fox.”
“So cute!” I compliment them and smile, “How long?”
“Uhhh…”
“This morning,” Marissa laughed. My eyes went wide in surprise, i laughed to myself.
“Ok, ask someone now.” I said.
“Foxy truth or Dare?” Z says as he kisses Foxy’s forehead.
“D-dare.”
“I dare you to..meet me in your room later” He says winking and Foxy squirms in his arms blushing excessively.
“Jesus, I might need to put my music on full blast.” Mars said, rolling her eyes. I laughed as both their faces went red.
“Mars….” Z says smiling menacingly at her, “My dear little sis…”
“What is itZ?” She leaned back against the concert wall, armed crossed.
“Shut...up..” He says as he looks down at Foxy who was just stammering not knowing what to do or say, just broken.
“Ya know it’s true. Anyways Foxy, try to ask someone if it's possible.”
“F-F-fell T-truth or D-D-D-Dare..” He says completely broken.
“Or both~” Z said, smiling at MArs in an evil way.
“Uhh...I guess both? I mean I still don't understand this game.”
“U-uhhh I d-dare you to k-k-kiss Mars..and U-uh… What exactly can you do?”
“I like the dare~” Fell said, looking at Mars. She looked up and say the smile.
“Oh! Uhh..I just remembered I have to….find my bag! I'll be back!” She got up and ran away. Fell looked shocked and disappointed.
“Don’t feel bad, Fell. She isn’t used to the love aspect and the contact, it’s nothing you did.” Z said, looking behind him. I looked back and saw she hid in a bush. I know she had bad luck at getting a guy, but had she ever been with one?! What has she gone through to be afraid of love?!
“B-but we've done stuff before but when it comes to y’all she freaks out like y’all are her family.”
“Wait...what stuff~?” Z and I said, which shocked us both.
“I- S- Seriously guys?!” Fell says turning red.
“It’s just a question. We won't tell M that you told us.” Z said, smiling in a comfort way
“Nothing too bad.” He says as he explains some of the things, he was just talking out of anxiety and when he stopped he sighed and sat back more like he was relieved of something.
“Huh… well we meant the cuddling and kissing she is not used to.”
“O-oh…” He says looking behind him “But why?”
“It’s a very long story…” I said, remembering what she told me about her family.
“Ah...okay” Fell says looking down in deep thought. I have a feeling that he’s going to try and find out, but things like that need to stay hidden.”So, should we go and get her? I saw her hide in the bush.” Fell said, pointing to the bush.
“Yeah, she needs to do her dare!” Jaden says loudly for her to hear and we hear the bush shake a bit.
“I’ll go get her.” I said, getting up. I need to assure her it’s ok.
“Marrss..i know your in the bush, and your bag isnt here it was on the bench.”
“Uhh...my phone is!!” She pokes her head out, holding her phone.
“It was in your pocket gurly..”
“No…” She sat down behind the bush, curling up in a ball.
“Do you want me to join you hun?”
“I don’t know. I guess if ya want.” She says as i join her in the bush spreading my wings so the bush is not in our faces like a shield.
“So...why won’t you do the dare with him?”
“Classified information, come back next year.” she laughs nervously. I sighed and pulled her into a hug.
“Don’t be afraid of love, girly. You have someone who loves you a lot, so enjoy it even if you don’t think it will last.” I say, I knew this by heart, i had told myself this when Caden died and Tyler tried comforting me but i kept avoiding him for what he did.
“It’s not that...I want to do that but I just can’t get over my past...and i still don’t know what real affection is besides yelling and being beat.”
“I-I know...I understand completely, but this right here hun, is real affection. Me hugging you close, me protecting you from these branches, do anything in my power to make you happy. Thats real affection.” I say hugging her closer.
“And yet I’m still tense…”
“I know...I can feel that, how do you think i felt when Jaden kept hugging me, im not even used to being touched.” I said looking down thinking about to my past aswell..Thats something me and Marissa have in common, we have hectic pasts and have bad trauma.
“So...can I stay over here and watch anime for a while?”
“May i join you?”
“Sure...but I don’t know if you’ll like Soul Eater…”
“I watch Tokyo Ghoul, i think i can handle it girl.” I say smiling and showing off my Tokyo Ghoul merch.
“People turn into weapons. One has a demon inside of them that turns into a weapon.” She said, her smile coming back.
“Awesome!” I say sitting back
“What’s taking so long?!” Z yelled, laughing.
“We’re having a girl talk Z!” I yell back flinging a branch with my wing at him.
“So… maybe we’ll watch anime later...but you can go out there. I’ll stay here.” Marissa crawled over to a patch of leaves and pulled it up to show snacks and books, even a switch. I look at her and my jaw just drops.
“YOU MADE THIS YOUR SECRET PLACE?!?!” I said in pure shock
“Yeah, came here at night all the time. Got stuff over the years and dug a very deep whole and ya have it. All i have to do fot my switch is take it home and charge it.”
“Can i join ya sometime?”
“Yeah. Go with the group.”
“Join me then..”
“Why? I want to be alone.” She says, i just sigh and let my sadness show as i pull in my wings and get out of the bush. I walk back to the group and sit down on Jadens lap resting my head on his shoulder.
“Where’s M?” Fosy asked me.
“She wanted to be alone..” I say slowly as I close my eyes and go half asleep but still listening.
“Why?” I heard Fell, his voice was kinda hurt.
“I-I don't know..” I say hurt as well. All of us sit around until we hear a scream. It didn’t sound like anyone we knew so we all ignored it.
“So...what do we do now?” I asked, trying not to fall asleep.
“Figure out how to get Marissa over here?” Z and Fell said.
“Play Five Nights At Freddy’s?” Jaden said.
“Sleep?” Foxy whined. I laughed because I wanted to sleep also.
“I agree with Fo-”
“Winter?” I heard a guy say. I freeze.
“Yeah?” I say turning around in Jaden’s lap and looked up to see Tyler standing there. I go speechless.
“WINTER! It’s been so long! How are you?!” HE said, a huge smile planted on his face. He started to walk over to me, but he had someone tied behind him. I saw the head go up and bit him. “OWW! Oh yeah...I found someone like me! SHe’s kinda feisty though.”
“LET ME GO YOU PIECE OF AMERICAN WHITE TRASH!” Marissa yelled. “ I am NOT like you! I am a FEMALE, not a MALE!”
“Mars?” I say laughing a bit but still in shock about seeing my brother.
“I was just playing Skyrim when this boso came out of the sky and was like ‘ My people’ and tied me up like a turkey on Thanksgiving! I am way too raw to eat by the way so you suck at cooking turkey and-” She shows her hands”- you suck at tying Boso.”
I look and Fell is just dying of laughter, well actually everyone is. Tyler is just standing there, in complete shock at Marissa saying all of this. I mean he wasn’t wrong about being feisty.
“T-tyler, why are you here? It's been 10 years..”
“I kinda got sent somewhere...and got stuck there. That’s a story for another day.”
“Mhm...You left me, you weren't sent somewhere, you left me to escape those..those DEMONS by myself..”
“I’m sorry, but I had to do something. I wanted to help you escape but I knew if I took you where I was going you would have not made it.
“..You know what whatever…” I say getting up from Jadens lap and running over to him giving him a tight hug, i felt hot tears running down my face of all the past things.
“Can you untie my legs? That’s the only thing he did good at.” Marissa said, trying to untie her legs.”
“What if I said no girl?” Tyler says looking behind him
“THen i would find a way to kick your butt with me tied up.”
“I’ll do it..” I said finding a sharp part of my wing and cutting the rope.
“So what did you mean by me being just like you white trash?” She said, getting up.
“Your an Fallen Angel, like me, but unlike Wolfy for she is a regular Angel.”
“Wait, marissa is a WHAT?!” Foxy, Z, and Jaden all yelled. Fell just stood there like he heard this before.
“Y’all couldn't tell?” Tyler says confused.
“NO!” They yelled again.
“S-stop yelling, my ears are sensitive” I say covering my ears from all the yelling.
“How could I tel-”
“Same species senses each other…” Mars said, looking down. “ Unless your a hybrid of something else”
“Like me” I say flying and doing some flips, i get bored easily.
“Mars… why didn't you tell us?”
“Uhh...well...umm…” She looked away from them. “ I can’t exactly tell you why.”
“Why?” Foxy asks, looking hurt.
“It’s complicated. I’m a Fallen Angel yes...but I am another thing that is too dangerous to mention. That’s why I never told you guys.”
“Wait, what’s the other thing?” Fell asked, looking confused.
“Nothing!” She said quickly, looking scared and nervous. “Can we stop talking about this guys?”
“Sure...but i will find out” Tyler says, winking at her. I glance over and see Fell was jealous.
“Dude. You can only sense my Fallen angel side. Also you creep.”
“How so?” He smiles at her, “You don't even know me.”
“I know the perv wink.”
“Wait what?!” Tyler says shocked, “Im not even-” He starts to say but looks at me and his smile disappears, i looked away and dug my face in Jadens chest.
“You did the ‘ ya look sexy’ wink”
“I-I did not!” Tyler defends himself, he looked mad at this point, “Im not even straight.” He yells at her.
“EVen though you are gay, A MANS A MAN!!”
“Tell that to Foxy” Jaden laughs, Foxy looks up from Z’s chest and looks around confused.
“What about me?” He asks.
“Nothing” Mars laughs. “Anyways I am actually...uhh…”
“I knew it. Your lesbian”
“I AM NOT LEZBE BOHO YA GAY AMERICAN!!!
“You thought I was straight,” Tyler shrugs, “But I thought you were american.”
“I am OHIO-ican.”
“Jesus, Sweetheart.” Fell laughs.
“Does Foxy know your lesbian?” Z asks, smirking.
“I am NOT LEZBE BOHO!”
“Lesbean?” Foxy asks like a child, looks like it's his nap time, great.
“Oh my god, YES. AND I AM STRAIGHT AS STRAIGHT CAN BE!”
“Well, technically you're Monstraight. You're dating a monster.” Z said, his smirk getting bigger.
“Ok, now wait a damn minute Z” Fell said, his eyes turning red.
“Z? What are they talking about?” Foxy asks looking up at him and then around at everyone, i try to hold in a laugh.
“Then your Gaybrid. Dating a hybrid!” Mars said, giving him a death stare.
“I'm dating the most handsome guy in the universe.” Z says kissing Foxy's forehead.
“Whatever. Ya can agree i am ugly as heck”
“One: You're agreeing that Foxy is ugly, two: you're not ugly, you're gorgeous.” Fell says, hugging her loosely. She almost flinched, but she actually relaxed.
“One: He is not. Two: No I am not.”
“Marissa..?” Foxy says walking up to her and looking at her, that obvious child looking in his eyes.
“Yes, little cute kid?”
“A-am I u-ugly?” He asks, he looked sad but tired. What is up with him? Earlier he was acting like an adult.
“NO! You're the cutest thing ever!” Marissa makes Fell let go of her, walk to her bag to grab something, and goes back to Foxy. “ Drink the tea and I will help you later with you favorite game.” She goes closer to him ” I changed it so the voices don’t bother you at all.” She whispered to him.
“T-Thank you Marissa! You're the best!” He says running back over to Z and drinks the tea.
“ You are like a mom, M”
“Just when Foxy is tired he goes into toddler mode, its cute but after too long he gets difficult.” Marissa says, I smile and look over at Foxy, he was wincing a bit at something i couldn't see but he had the biggest smile on his face. I knew this was the place i belonged, this would be the place i could be myself and no longer hide.
