Chapter 5
(Foxy’s POV)
“Why not Z?” I ask,
“Because i dont want you to get hurt! You dont know what might happen!” Z responds holding my shoulders with deep concern in his eyes. I looked back at him, i felt bad for doing this to him but it had to happen, i knew it was dangerous.
“Z, i need to see what Jake did to mom” I plead him.
“No you dont, you know what happened, what if he sees you?!”
“I’ll just hide.”
“You sure you can do that? What if you change something and everything changes here? What if you accidentally make it to where we dont meet? You know if you get hurt there your gonna be hurt here…?”
“Yes..I know Z, thats fine, ill be fine.”
“I-i dont trust it, if he finds out its you..he may get you as well?”
“Then just bring me back, i trust you Z.”
“B-But..” Z tried to say before Stormy cuts him off.
“I-ill go with him, besides i need to go somewhere as well later” She says winking, but the pain in her eyes was as visible as day.
“Are you all just gonna use me for yall’s sob stories?” Z asks a little irritation on his face, i could get why…he gets his new ability..and everyone is using him for their personal needs.
“N-no!” Stormy says rushing closer towards him. Z pulls away getting away from her grasp.
“Sure sounds like it.” Z says signaling for me to follow him up the stairs. I follow him obediently as he leads me to our room upstairs. He sits me down on our bed and sits beside me laying his head down on my shoulder.
“W-why do you want to do this? I thought you were fine without knowing..you said you were fine without knowing.”
“I- Im sorry Z, it just hurts to not know what happened to mommy, I barely even knew her.” I said, I knew I sounded like a child but at that moment I didn’t care anymore. He picks up his head from my shoulder and turns towards me kissing me gently before saying “okay…but Stormy will go with you..i don’t want you hurt.”
“Yes sir, thank you so much..ill make it up Z I promise!” I say hugging him gently.
“You better…” He says smiling at me and signaling for me to follow him downstairs now. I follow him and everyone looked up and got up to hear Z’s decision.
“Stormy, youll go with him, protect my pup.” He says gripping her shoulder, she winced under his grip. “Y-yes, with my l-life” She says and Z let go.
“Good Wolfy.” He says smiling, I saw the fear on Stormys face as he backed up and held out his hand for us to grab. I reached my hand out but before I could grab Z’s hand I feel someone touch my shoulder. I turn around to see Mars, worry filled her face visibly. “Be careful out there Foxy, don’t screw this up.” She says hugging me tightly and whispers in my ear, “And don’t let the voices distract you.” I stood there in shock and nodded to her.
“Come one Foxy” Stormy says holding her hand to me, I grab it and we both touch Z’s hand. Suddenly everything goes black, no sound I only see Stormy there still holding my hand as we fall into nothingness.
“What is this?” I ask as we fall deeper into it, I could barely see her now. I look to what seems like down to me and see a bright light in the distance, we were falling straight for it. “U-uh, Stormy, whats that?”
“I-I don’t know Foxy, but brace yourself” She says as the light gets rapidly bigger, I had to block my face from the light as we fall through it. We hit the ground and all goes back into nothingness…
“Foxy! Foxy wake up!” Someone says, I open my eyes to see Stormy standing over me rapidly looking around. We were in some yard outside a house, “Where are we?” she asks nervously.
“T-this is my old house.” I say in shock, it actually worked, I sneaked up into he window switching into my human form. I look inside and see my mom sitting in her old chair working on some clothes. She looked beautiful when she was alive, I only saw photos of her mostly. I was always kept away from her and saw her on occasionally. I stood there mesmerized as Stormy leans over my shoulder, suddenly I heard a car coming down the street and feel Stormy tackle me into the bushes covering my mouth before I can let out a cry of surprise. I see the car pull into the driveway and see my “dad” come out, I had to use all my power to hold in a growl. He walked into the house and slammed the door, I could tell on his face it was not a good day for him. Stormy gently lets go of me as he goes in.
“T-that was a close one” she whispers.
“Yeah, he almost saw-“ I was cut off by a voice coming from near the window
“I think those mangy teenagers are back Heather, saw a few near here on the way back.” He says, I could hear the annoyance and anger in his voice. Me and Stormy froze as we heard this. “We should leave, NOW” She whispers as she grabs my arm. I resisted her, as I stood there frozen by the sight of my mother, she died when I was about 12. It had been 6 years since ive seen her, and I barely even saw her back then, just glimpses. Something made me want to go in there, to speak to her, to see her face one last time. I hear the door open and Stormy lets go of my hand and sprints around the corner of the house. I look after her and she had disappeared, I hear footsteps coming my way and I don’t know what to do but accept my fate of being found. Suddenly I hear my moms voice calling from inside the house and the footsteps disappear with a slam of the door. I let out a sigh of relief and crawl to where Stormy had disappeared. I saw her on the roof where she had flown up.
“Up here Foxy!” She whisper yells as she reaches out her hand. I climb up the jagged bricks and grab her hand and she pulls me up. I sigh in relief of rescaping certain trouble. Soon we hear a ladys voice calling from outside, I peek down and see my mom calling around. “Strangers? Hello?” She says. I start to jump down to her but Stormy stops me.
“W-what if it’s a trap?” She says looking at me worried, “I don’t want Z to kill me..”
“Itll be fine, my mother never had ill intentions!” I say pulling free and jumping on the ground in front of her. She looked at me startled and then relaxes. “Oh Hello, who are you may I ask?” She says smiling her bright beautiful smile. I could get lost in that smile any day. “I-im Foxy..” I say smiling back, she looks at me up and down and then looks up to where I came from. “Didn’t you have a friend with you?” She asks.
“U-uhh.” I couldn’t reply, I mean Stormy would introduce herself in her own timing, but all I wanted was to talk to my mother, “N-no” I lied looking back down and smiling again.
“Oh, okay so what are you doing here?” She asks looking confused, “Y-you kinda look like me in a way, I sense….something..” She says looking away. Soon she grabs my hand and pulls me around towards our family shed and pulls me in shutting the door behind her.
“Show me.” She says getting closer to me, I start in a cold sweat and back away from her.
“S-show you what?” I ask confused.
“Your fox form, I can sense it!” She says looking around me. I guess what Tyler said was true, the same species can sense eachother.
“F-Fine..” I say changing into my fox form, I look away for a bit.
“Howd you end up like this? I thought I was the only one.” She says rushing her hand through my hair and circling around me.
“H-hey mom..” I say smiling nervously, she freezes in front of me. Her face was in full shock and a few tears drop down her face, “I-I have a son…h-how old are you? Whats these marks?”
“I-im 18 mom,t-those are from Jack.” I say looking away in shame, I didn’t want to tell her what was gonna happen. I knew I had limited time with her though. I knew any minute now Z was gonna pull me back, “Everything will play out in time, but I have a loving family of friends, and I have a loving boyfriend. I love you, so much mommy.” I say crying, she wipes away my tears and kisses my cheek.
“I support you son, im glad your happy, and ill see you when your older, mommy loves you too, and always remember Everything always will work out, I –“ That’s all she said before I blinked and I was back in the living room Z and the others around me. I sit there in complete shock before breaking down in tears.
“W-what happened?” Z demanded looking at Stormy with anger in his eyes. She cowered away a bit
“I- I don’t know! He just saw his mother and when I looked again he was gone!” She says flinching a bit.
“Why did you take your eyes off him?! This is why I wont trust strangers!” He yells back at her, Stormy flinches under his words, gets up, and walks away to outside.
“Z! Don’t be so hard on her! You don’t know what she has been through.” Mars yells at him. “Well, I told her to protect him! But you see him now sobbing on the ground! What kind of protection is that?!” He yells back, I couldn’t do anything but I got up and looked at Z,
“I-I was fine..I got to see her Z, I got to see mommy..” I say collapsing on him. He holds me for a bit, before saying.
“Then why are you crying?” He asks putting his hand through my hair triyng to comfort me.
“S-she was so nice, beautiful…b-but why she have to die?” I say crying even more at the thought of my mother dying, “She e-even supported our relationship! She doesn’t know shes gonna die Z!”
“Shh Baby fox, everything is gonna be fine.. im just glad nothing happened to you, I don’t know what I would do if anything did.” He says kissing my forehead and lifting me up to stand. “See no reason to yell at Stormy over something so STUPID!” Mars says walking outside after Stormy. I flinched at her words before going up to my room. Z follows me and shuts the door behind us.
“What are you doing Z?” I ask looking back as he locked the door.
“I dared you to meet me up here at the park, its about time we fulfill that dare.” He says winking, I blush at his words.
“W-whatever you say.” I say sitting on the bed, he walks over caressing my face kissing me softly.
