As Camilo and I reached the outdoor dining area, Camilo turned to me with a mischievous look.
"I'll be back," Camilo whispers as he shapeshifts into Mirabel. I chuckled and slowly looked at my surroundings. A boy that looks to be 5 with dark skin, curly black hair, and dark brown eyes comes up to me.
"Are those your animals?" I ask, pointing up at the trees.
"Yeah," he sighs, "They get excited when it's breakfast. Hey! You're the girl who's here to solve the mystery!" He says with excitement in his eyes.
"Huh? Oh! Yeah! I'm Y/N," I take out my hand, he's the boy with the leopard, "You must be Antonio! You have a fast leopard."
"Thanks! But that's a jaguar, not a leopard," Antonio clarifies.
"Oooooh. I get those to animals mixed up, sorry," I say awkwardly.
"It's alright, so does everyone else," he leans past me and finds Camilo with a plate full of food. Antonio laughs and says he has to go. I went over to the food table and grabbed some arepas. I didn't want to sit down and ruin a tender family moment. I swiftly snuck back into the house and went upstairs to get my bag. Then I crept through Camilo's room and hopped onto the roof. I climbed until I was as high as I could get, although I could climb higher. I sit and spread out all of my notes, sketches, and breakfast. I looked at my notes and made a few updates.
Pepa as lead, Dolores as suspicious and info getter, and Mirabel as my partner. I stand up to better view the case and the town. Everything looks so humble. I packed up my things, gobbled some breakfast, found the closest tree, and slid down. Thank goodness Mirabel was next to the tree. I really wanted a dramatic entrance. I tapped her shoulder and she screamed.
"Come on, let's go!" I say before she could say anything else.
"What...where...huh?" Mirabel questions still in shock.
"We need to find Pepa."
We knocked on Pepa's door and waited.
"Are you sure we should just knock?" Mirabel asks worriedly.
"Yeah, what's the worse that can happen?" Lighting strikes and I immediately regret saying that. Pepa opens the door with a thunder cloud over her head.
"Yes?" Pepa says miserably. I walked into her room without asking and started pacing around.
"We went to Dolores and heard a thing or two about last night," I explained.
"Yes, Abuela was murdered," Pepa looks at me sharply.
"What did you have to do with it?!" I blurted pointing a finger at her.
"Excuse me?!" Pepa scolds.
"Y/N!" Mirabel yells.
"Look I don't mean to be rude, but we heard info that you may have murdered Abuela. So, if you did, tell us now."
"Mph, alright. I understand where you're coming from, but I didn't murder Abuela. I was here all night with Félix," Pepa clarifies.
"How do we know you're not lying?" I demand an answer
"Mi Amor! Where's the moisturizer from last night?" Félix calls. I look at Pepa with an apologetic smile. She cheekily smiles.
"Trust me. I was here aalll night," Pepa reassures.
We leave the room with apologies and close the door. I turned to Mirabel and couldn't help but laugh. She chuckles and rolls her eyes.
"Maybe next time, I'll do the talking."
We head back to her room and start laying out some points here and there. It took some research, questioning everything, and a lot of food, but we finally have an answer. The only other P-lettered named member in the family is Anioio's jaguar, Parce.
"Maybe Parce had some weird trigger in his brain and wanted to attack Abuela. Maybe he crept up on Abuela while she was sleeping, did a strong but settled growl. And ATTACKED Abuela with the last words of, "Parce, what are... AAAAAAAAA!!!" I suggest to Mirabel while holding up my claws and heavily breathing.
"Ooooor," says lowering my hands, "Dolores was bluffing." I look at her disappointed.
"Or that too... but we'll never unless we look at the scene of the crime!" I insist. She laughs and we got ready for bed. Mirabel turns off the light and wishes me goodnight. I do the same and wait till she falls asleep. It's go time.250Please respect copyright.PENANATIGoqz0rdT
