Me and michelia made our way out of the building. Fighting our way past the remaining guards. Well, I fought the odd one. Michelia slaughtered most of them. but to me it didn’t look like anger. It looked like revenge for her fallen comrades.
we emerged from the building to find a knight standing in the town square. “Is it over?” He asked as he lifted his helmet. Revealing a handsome face with blue eyes and brown hair.
”it’s over,” I said. “Herkna and most of his men won’t harm anyone again.
”now what do I do?” Asked the knight. “Is it ok if I join you?”
”sure,” I said. “Welcome to the whispering blade guild...?”
”Clarence,” said he knight.
”good to know,” I said. “I’m Inji.”
”Let’s get going,” said michelia. “I don’t want to stick around here any longer than I have to.”
”agreed,” I said.
”there’s a town an hour northeast of here,” said Clarence. “It’s not that big but it has a port and a decent selection of shops.”
”Sounds good to me,” said michelia as she loaded her gunblade. “I’m almost out of ammo.”
”let’s go then,” I said. “We have enough daylight left to get there before it gets dark.”
Together we left the village. I noted npcs and unarmed players staring at us in fear from windows and doorways. Maybe now that Herkna and his men were gone this would become a better place. For now though, that wasn’t my problem.
as we walked we talked. Michelia and Clarence were surprised to find out I was homeschooled but Clarence kept looking at my equipment. Eventually I could ignore it no longer.
”something about my equipment scare you?” I asked him.
”I’m just curious,” he said unashamed. “I see a double sword, a short sword, hidden blade, four daggers, a spear, a lot of throwing knives and a revolver.”
”you forgot the derringer in my boot,” I smiled.
”why so many weapons?”
my smile faded. “I like to be prepared for everything.” The spear is for if a have to vault over something. The guns are for range. The short sword is for up close and personal. The hidden blade is for the final kill shot or stealth assassinations. And the swordstaff is for regular fighting when I need an edge.”
“Plus all the weapons you got from Herkna,” said michelia. “HE made us watch his torture sessions before he’d torture the next person. He had all kinds of weapons. And he’d use each persons weapon to kill them.”
michelia shuddered at the thought.
i felt my mood go grim. “He’s dead now but he probably wasn’t the only person who did that kind of stuff. IF we come across more we’ll put a stop to them.”
”I can live with that,” said Clarence.
”agreed,” said michelia. “And there’s the town.”
we emerged from the forest into an expanse of plains and found a walled town five minutes walk ahead of us. The white walls shone red in the sunset. Making it look like the walls were made of red stone.
”last one there buys dinner?” I said.
”you’re on,” said michelia. “Good luck Clarence.”
and with that we were off running. Quickly leaving Clarence behind in his armour. Michelia was fast but I was faster. I reached the walls forty seconds ahead of her. And I hadn’t even been going full throttle.
i waited for her and then we leaned against the wall to wait for Clarence.
