Together me and seb helped matt to the resurrection shrine. We sat him down on the edge of the shrine and I looked up at the sky which was giving way to darkness and stars
“Looks like we made it through this one,” said Seb. “I guess you guys have more survivability than I thought. Still it goes without saying that you should avoid direct combat where possible.”
“I’ll set about recruiting an army of NPCs and players to protect me and clear dungeons posthaste,” Matt said as he spit blood out of his mouth.
“Not anytime soon you’re not,” cautioned Seb. “Tim, take him to the town doctor. He’ll patch him up.”
“You’re not coming with us?” I asked.
“I said I’d show you the ropes so you guys wouldn’t die,” explained Seb. “but I’m still not willing to join your world changing operation. I’m not gonna stop you two, but my objective since this world came about is now and always been to return it to normal.”
“That makes us rivals then,” Matt smiled through a grimace.
“Think of it more as an incentive to step up your game and hurry,” Seb grinned, holding out his fist. “Whichever of us completes our objective, no hard feelings, right?”
“None whatsoever,” agreed Matt. Bumping his fist against Seb’s. “We all walk separate paths. However, I doubt it will be long before our paths cross again. Don’t hesitate to call on me if you’re in a pinch, ok?”
“Likewise,” grinned Seb.
“Um… I’m here too,” I said.
“Try not to do anything that would end up ruining Matt’s reputation,” laughed Seb as he bumped fists with me.
“I always make sure I have a stooge to blame for my assassinations,” I said as I balanced a dagger on my finger.
“You’re not exactly inspiring me with confidence here,” Seb smirked wryly. “Just don’t die out there. You’ll have a hard time running for any public office if any proof you existed is erased, Matt.”
“I only ever take calculated risks,” Matt responded as he opened his game menu. “See you Thursday in the other world.”
“Real world, you mean,” I corrected as I activated the teleporter. And with a flicker we disappeared.
