Chapter VIII: Misunderstandings, Part 2
It is the month of fools but just for the first day. In school, the Brotubers prank each other with texts and some, Rick-Roll the others. For Kota, he is despicable of avoiding pranks in which one is a bucket of water on top of the classroom door which is planned by Asahi and Haru. Kota walks through the hallway and the gang is hiding inside the classroom. When the classroom door opened, the bucket falls but it doesn't fall on Kota. The gang expect the unexpected. The bucket of water actually fell unto the class adviser. They get scolded due to this while Kota is stopped by his cousin in the hallway which explains why he didn't got involved in the prank. Meanwhile in another part of the classroom, Akiko looks at the charm and the key that Kota has given her and while he looks at Kota outside the classroom, and goes back looking at the charm and the key, she frowns.
The afternoon session starts and Kota asks Akiko what's the matter and she responds back with a smile and says that it's just nothing. Kota then makes a joke that makes her blush but she got on guard, so she says that she might be going in his house at night and watches him. She says that next time, she will not play nice. Hearing this, Kota turns red again and panics. Then she was just kidding on the first part but the last part is not.
The next day, Asahi and Haru enters the classroom. He opens the door to find the two having a misunderstanding again. Asahi asks why are they arguing, and turns out that it's about their own choices. In the end, Kota apologizes and at night, he texts her about it. With his childish mind, he asks her how much she loves him. But because of what happened back then, she only replies that she loves him as a friend and sadly not a crush anymore.
Another day rises, and it is almost Akiko's birthday. Kota wanted her to have a merch of a boy-band although he can't remember anymore where did he hid this. At this point, he wanted to tell her his feelings and by that, he bought three rose chocolates, another charm, and a letter. On Thursday, he left it in her locker. After a while, she arrives at school and as she opens her locker, she is surprised to find the gift. She takes the letter and reads it while walking through the hallway. As she goes to the end of the letter, she begins to get mad and looking upset. She goes to Kota and thanks him with a fake smile. Her friends appear at her side and she reveals that she is older than them. This also means that she is one year older than Kota. Throughout the day, he tries to talk to Akiko however, she avoids the conversation except if it's about homework or regarding school.
At night, her mother asks her about where did she got the chocolates and the charm. She says to her that it's from a friend and her brother suggests that it might be from a special someone. She says that it is not and she goes to her room. She then cries about the gift. Asahi texts her what's up. She opens up to him that Kota is very annoying, super-clingy, and self-centered. He comforts her that maybe he is just like that because her love for her but Akiko explains to him about what happened. He then points out that maybe Kota may still think that he and she are still like-lovers, however they didn't know that Kota is just worried about her. He tries to comfort her and they point out that Kota is just a big idiotic loser and weirdo.
