Chapter XXII: Being Together
Starting from that day, Kota begins to have his full confidence again at school as well as Akiko. Toshiro, Enmei, and Satou notices this and approaches Kota. They ask him if something happened. Kota simply answers that it's just nothing and winks at Asahi. He flashes back to the times he and Akiko are together. Toshiro then asks if Kota is gay. Surprised, he denies it and tells that he is totally straight as well as Asahi. At the other end, Masashi approaches Akiko and asks her if what happened yesterday. Akiko smiles and tells him that it's just a secret. Masashi already knows this and smiles back while Akiko looks at the window smiling and flashbacks to the time she and Kota are together. Two girls interrupt him and they turn out to be Hanako and Himari.
On Saturday, Akiko waits at the fountain, wearing the same My Sister is a Demon jacket and an Avenge of the Titan sling bag. She appears to be texting someone so she looks down at the phone. A voice then says,
"Sorry to keep you waiting."
She looks up and the guy turns out to be Kota, wearing the Half-Haori jacket and a sling bag with an anime keychain. Akiko then smiles and complements the jacket. After that, they go inside the mall. Satou's gang passes by and the two rushes into a shop so they are not seen. After seeing that the coast is clear, they begin to move but are stoppedby Hanako and Himari. Akiko sighs and tells them to keep this a secret. Theypromised and they are off. Kota and Akiko then goes to the bookstore to look up on manga. They didn't saw any but a stall opened in a section of the mall which is about nearly close to the bookstore. It contained anime merch such as figurines, caps, pillows, manga, posters, and much more. They bought some but it's just the important ones. A group of guys starts to laugh at them. Akiko brings out her sword and tries to threaten them. The group flee and Kota complements her style. Akiko thanks him for this.
They then go to the dike. Experiencing the breeze by the riverside, Kota says,
"One of us is an inspiration towards one another."
Akiko smiles, then says,
"Even though we had hard times back then, let's make it up with the new memories we have."
Kota smiles and both hug each other. They look at each other in the eyes.
"I am very glad I met you, Se-n-pa-i", says Kota.
"Seriously? We're the same age for only two months. But on the contrary, I can accept that since it does make sense. ", replies Akiko.
As the two kiss, a Sakura petal covers the scene.
"Love can wait,
it will happen unexpectedly"
