Chapter XI: The Necessary and The Unnecessary
The next day comes up, and the teacher comes up and starts class. While the teacher is lecturing, Kota tries to look on Akiko but he always get caught by her. At break time, Akiko approaches him. She grabs his arm and tells him to stop looking at her during class since it's very creepy and weird. Kota still can't find the exact words to say, so he nods. Looking mad, Akiko goes back to her seat. Kota also notices that she isn't wearing the key anymore.
The class resumes into learning and the math teacher enters. Kota is still bamboozled and refuses to take notes of the lesson. He starts to self-reflect by some important words on his paper. From the words he'd gathered, he then asks himself,
" Why am I feeling like this? Is it necessary for me for what am I feeling? Does that matter now?".
He then recalls what Akiko said to him back then when he is asking how much she loves him again. She answered in the form of a question, stating,
"Is that really necessary?"
Embarrassed, he said,
"Uh, of course, I was just joking! Sheesh"
Back to the present, he then realizes that the pain he got back then will serve a stepping stone for his future and there will be more taller and harder obstacles that he will overcome. He also recalls about his conversation with Akiko talking about their promises.
"Education would be first and love will come after since we are still young"
From all that, he then pulls his notebook for math and tries to write all the things on the blackboard very fast and legibly.
At night, he studies all the textbooks and with the help of his father, he evaluates them all, qualitative and quantitative. On the other hand, at the Chisai residence, Akiko texts Asahi concerning about Kota. Asahi says that he is still recovering from that. Akiko doesn't care about this and still feels mad, so she changes the subject into the anime, My Sister is a Demon regarding season two since it was announced 4 days ago. He is very excited about this. At night, Kota sleeps with determined thoughts for his future and tries to carry on with the studies. However, he still prays that he and Akiko would still be friends despite what happened ago.
