Chapter XIII: Groupmates, Part 1
The day is Friday so they take the project at home. He already had given the basis for the quotes or the slogan they're putting on the projects. Akiko suggests to him that how about he will go to her house to collaborate on the drawings. Kota then asks his mother about it and she approves it. At 11:00 in the morning of Saturday, he goes to her house and knocks on the door.
The door creaks, an old lady stands at the door and asks him if who is it he wants to see. He tells that he's there to work on a project with Akiko. She lets him in but she feels something sus is going on since it's just one guy. However, she notices that he has the looks and a very well mannered etiquette. The old lady also then goes to Akiko's room and call for her. Kota is standing beside her and Akiko opens her door looking kind of droopy and yawning, still in her pajamas. The old lady tells her that she has a guest. She rubs her eyes looking at Kota, and when she realizes, she slams the door, then rushes to change her clothes and tidies her room. While she is doing, on the flip side, the old lady then asks Kota if how is she been doing at school. Kota answers that Akiko is very sharp at answering however, she is sometimes late. Akiko finishes and Kota enters her room. He is then greeted with a lot of anime posters, shelves full of manga, figurines, and above all, anime jackets, hats, headdress, wigs and costumes for cosplay. They soon discuss the project and Akiko is fazed about Kota inside her room and she needs to keep her composure. Kota then draws a partial image for the poster as well as Akiko while talking about games. Kota forgot his eraser at home so when he reaches for the eraser, and coincidentally, Akiko's hand is also on the eraser. They look at each other and blush. Akiko tells him to go first. Kota did and once they finish the drawings, they soon go down for some snacks.
At the dining room, the old lady prepares pasta. The old lady turns out to be Akiko's grandma. She asks them both if they'd finished their project. The both tells her that they're almost finish. Her grandma then puts on a scary look. She then asks Kota about Akiko's status in school. Shocked, Akiko's head slowly turns to Kota. Knowing that she's actually bad at recitation (but answers when called) and a slow learner, Akiko expects a negative response from Kota although there were just few mistakes she did on the test scores. Kota tells her grandma that Akiko has been doing great at school. She helps him every group project especially the investigatory project in science. Her grandma seems to like his answer despite seeing her playing games late at night while talking with other friends. After their snacks, they go upstairs and once again continue on the projects. Once they finish, they need to clean up the mess. As Kota walks up to get something, he steps on a pencil and pushes Akiko on her bed. The both turn red. Not knowing what to do next, Akiko then tries to get closer to Kota, making him to panic. Suddenly, the door bursts open and it is her brother. They try to convince him that it's not what it looks like. But in the end, he accepts it. After that, Kota thanks them and goes home. Akiko's brother then asks her if that was the guy who was her crush. Turning red again, Akiko tries to cover it up. He then tells her that he will tell it to their mother. As Akiko is about to kick him, he then tells that he's just kidding.
At school, they present it at class. After presenting, the class then focuses on the other groups' work. Kota then tries to grab Akiko's work since he's the leader, and to have a little remembrance of her, despite she never gave Kota anything in return for all the gifts he gave her, although no exchanges, he doesn't expect anything in return. However, Akiko notices it so she puts it in her bag. On another part of class, while working on their investigatory project in science. Akiko acts as the secretary of the group. Kota then teases her about her flawless hand writing and being the secretary of the group. Akiko tries to brush him up by telling her that she will kick his balls, and Kota then tells her that he will never tease her about being secretary anymore. They pass their project. As for the result, they have a 90/100 although they are not the highest nor the lowest but in the middle among the other scores.
