Alex walked in astonished silence, he had never been to a place so big before. I mean sure, Ploriian had plenty of big buildings but none like this.
The man rambled on and on before Alex stopped, the thought of what the man said earlier registering.
"Um, sir- what did you mean by 'we thank you? " he asked, the chubby man turned to him with a sigh.
"Follow me, I'll show you" he said, Alex nodded and followed him to the tower with a spiral staircase.
As they neared the top, the man started talking again.
"I can tell your knowledge of this place is astonishing but… you need a little more before you understand what you have to deal with. " he said. Alex nodded and the man pushed open the door, the room was empty except for a podium in the middle.
"Put your Trident there" he said, Alex nodded and walked to the podium, he gracefully twirled it before placing the three spikes into the opening of the podium.
It lit up and blue water spilled from the middle into small slots in the ground, it formed an almost magic circle.
"Turn it left" the man instructed, Alex nodded and twisted the shaft to the left. The water lit up and then images flashed onto the black walls.
"This is Oceannia is years ago, around… 672 Bc. Living peacefully, in harmony. Everyone knew everyone, treated everyone with respect and high standards. We knew peace more than the other kingdoms did.
Our king at the time wasn't seen much, he usually hid away in his castle and avoided people and that's what brought people together… they thought if they acted a certain way someday they might get a glimpse of him. " he paused as the picture floated to another one.
"A few years before The war of Theorium though, the king was announced dead… Murdered. People started rioting and then eventually turned into fish. It was either fish or if they were ever touched by the roses that sat around the edge of the oceans shore they'd turn to marble.
Oceannia went extinct and everything broke into an all out war, everyone either evacuated or died during it.
After the war, the orb that kept our home in balance disappeared but still seemed to be working.
The kingdoms become overgrown or turned to rubbish or disappear all together. But when the weapon or a certain kingdom is touched by the chosen protector… it would fix itself.
We had a protector before you, but she abused her power and became corrupted and died at the touch of the kingdom's crystal.
That's why we thank you for coming along and hope that you don't fall for any of that" the man explained.
Alex stared astonished at some of the images for a few minutes.
"So… then- how… " Alex paused and looked out at the water through a stained glass window.
"How what?"
Alex frowned "is this why the portal sucked me in, back in Ploriian?" He questioned, The man frowned.
"Maybe… "
Alex sighed.
"So then why… Why can't I remember what happened to Endorria? Why can't I remember that fight-" he stopped falling into a crouch clutching his head.
The man walked over and rested a hand on his shoulder.
"I wouldn't stress about… it. Instead, let's show you to your room so you can get ready for dinner" he said, Alex's breath shivered and he stood with a nod.
He walked over to the Trident and turned it right just a tad before pulling it up and out, the water vaporized and the podium stopped glowing.
The man looked at him, "ah, you are always welcome here. But whatever you do. Never. Never turn the Trident to the right. " he said, Alex stiffened and nodded.
As they walked out Alex pulled the door shut before hesitating and then shutting it completely.
