Chapter XVI: The Ghost of the Past
The month of February comes to light and it's Kota's birth month. Akiko doesn't know about this and goes out to hangout with Hanako. She goes by the fountain while she waits for Hanako. As she walks to the bookstore to check out some books, a guy in a Split-Haori jacket which she recognizes as a pattern from My Sister is a Demon passes by. She sense something mysterious about that guy. She wants to check it out but Hanako arrives on the scene. They go to various places such as the bookstore, jewelry stand, and the cafe. In the afternoon, they part ways and go back home.
Another day, a group video call commences and the only people present there are Akiko, and 2 other guys. Asahi joins in and it appears that he is hanging out with Masashi in a familiar room. Suddenly in the background, a guitar plays some anime songs. Others compliment the beautiful melody while Akiko is focused on gaming. At this rate, the call ends.
The month is April and on her computer, while browsing on Accord, she was apparently added to the group named Game Bros., a group which consists of her friends, especially those who plays the latest RPG. On the VC call, she sees Asahi whose screenname is Crimson, and another person whose name is Typhoon. She then jokes off that maybe that person named himself/herself because he/she is suffering from Typhoid. A moment later, she realizes that she went too far with the joke although it's just in her mind. She then joins the VC. She introduces herself to be PurpleGirl which is actually her name in Accord. Asahi gets a Truth or Dare in which he answers Truth. The question is: What was the most painful experience you got? Asahi answers this which his painful experience is getting called as a pedophile although he was just in a platonic relationship with a girl who is 3 years younger than him. Akiko tells her experience in which he fails to do so because it would be embarrassing which she tells that it's a secret. It is Typhoon's turn now. He tells his experience which happened 2 years ago on the 5th month. He and a girl were in good terms but due to his clinginess, he found himself in the friendzone. The girl's words pierced her heart in which he was inflicted with the Great Depression of 2019. He wants to make it up to the girl however, he never finds a great chance to do it. The event took place outside school.
After saying this, Akiko needs a minute before they proceed to the next Truth or Dare. The memories back then with Kota flashes into her mind and tears roll down her rosy cheeks. 2 minutes later, she's back and tells her that it was about their cat. They continue and it is truth which the question is: What is your favorite anime? Starting from Asahi again, he answers Underflow while Akiko answers Legit Skating. For Typhoon, it is Avenge of the Titan. After a while, Typhoon is about to go since he's going to do something important. Akiko and Asahi talk about anime and then the latest interesting series on TrapFlix. After this, Asahi says that Typhoon sounds like somebody that she used to know. However, already knowing about who is this, she shakes it off that it's not him although the events that took place are really familiar like the 5th month but one doesn't seem right which is that it took place outside the school. She then concludes that maybe Typhoon is a Craftsburg streamer and Brotuber. When they ended the call, Akiko lays on his bed and wonders about if it was really Kota, it would be impossible but the events that took place, is really similar and getting through the point that he's really good at impersonations, there is none of his impersonations that sounds like him.
On the other end, on his Accord account, Asahi talks with Typhoon. He asks about if Akiko noticed some facts he'd represented and also her reaction to it. Asahi tells him that she noticed some and reacted normally but there is one thing wrong which is the event took place outside school. Asahi then asks him if what is really his favorite anime. Although Typhoon's answer was Avenge of the Titan, he tells him that the said anime is just in second place. The first favorite turns out to be My Sister is a Demon. He also appreciate the mouse and the keyboard Asahi gave him. On the other end of the call, a Half-Haori jacket can be seen on his cabinet and turning the scene to his tall, gaming chair and the silhouette of an athletic-built body.
"Come on man, don't expect people won't like you for a putrid or horrible reason", says Asahi to him.
"I am-", Typhoon says while the reader or viewer gets a glimpse, slowly going up to his mouth.
"I am not disliked by people!", thus Typhoon reveals himself as Kota.
"The past that haunts the present,
seems unresolved in the future"
