Finally, everybody made it outside to the school’s courtyard. At the same time, Peter Nelson and Mr. Nelson also appeared, being dragged by more officers. The school’s parking lot was almost filled with police cars, all of which were flashing their lights, bewildered teenagers, and faculty members. Amongst the crowds of teenagers were Jimmy Carter and Jessica, Makenna’s other best friend, and her eyes caught them. Once in the courtyard, Officer Hobbs, the man who was carrying Tracey, called for more police assistance and asked for them to help him with him. He gently set him down in the grassy courtyard, on his back, and other police officers scurried over and surrounded him. Very few people peered over to the cluster of police officers. No one was looking at Makenna. Most peoples’ eyes were on the two criminals, Peter the most.131Please respect copyright.PENANA2rwZ9kTLtC
He tried to break free from the officers holding him, and as they dragged both him and Mr. Nelson toward a police car, Makenna could hear him yelling, “Let me go! There are some fairies in there! Let me go!”131Please respect copyright.PENANAoBIO2Cmwjz
“What fairies?” a teenage girl asked.131Please respect copyright.PENANAYMSPMlNeXr
Fighting Peter’s eyes landed on Makenna and Caleb, and he gasped, “There they are!” He pointed at them and heads turned toward Makenna and Caleb. Gasps came from all over.131Please respect copyright.PENANAxiH8yq7iSI
At the same time, Jessica and Jimmy yelled, “What?! Makenna?! You’re a fairy?!”131Please respect copyright.PENANAdN2oPsDQuH
Makenna chuckled nervously and waved at everybody. “Hey, everyone,” she said. While everyone was frozen with astonishment, Peter made a run for it. He broke free from the officers holding him and sprinted toward Makenna, Caleb, and the crowd surrounding Tracey. Officers went after him.131Please respect copyright.PENANAuNiyml0Ric
Mr. Nelson, Peter’s dad, stay behind. He soon realized the truth, and eyes widening, he said, “Peter. Peter’s the main criminal here! He merely used me as bait to help him succeed with murdering Makenna! Aw man!” He closed his eyes, “What have I gotten myself into?!”
Peter Nelson ran right by Makenna, Caleb, and the crowd surrounding Tracey and tried to escape to the woods.131Please respect copyright.PENANAuCF49RR5Hd
Makenna decided to be brave. “Oh no you don’t!” she yelled, and quickly lifting into the air, she chased after Peter. Jessica and Jimmy Carter just stared at her. They were totally thunderstruck. Their friend was a fairy, a real fairy! In the crowd surrounding Tracey, the officers had taken the sheet off his bare chest, and they were trying to wake him up. However, they only failed.131Please respect copyright.PENANALiPBiZFTK9
Before long, one officer, a younger one like Officer Hobbs, stepped out of the crowd and approached Officer Camden, asking, “Is there an ambulance coming?”131Please respect copyright.PENANAbcRIylWwi3
“Don’t worry,” spoke Officer Camden, “There’s one en-route right now. They should be here soon.”131Please respect copyright.PENANAuyAoWXmls8
“Well I hope so,” said the younger officer, “We’re running out of time.”131Please respect copyright.PENANAnQQSvJhtSA
“I know,” calmly spoke Camden, “Lilly.” He turned his head in the direction of Officer Jordan.131Please respect copyright.PENANALw0OfBpF18
“Yes, sir?” she asked, and she saluted to her superior.131Please respect copyright.PENANAMWZn88UIub
“Can you follow the other officers into the woods?” he asked, “Most likely, the suspect is going to try to lose them in an overgrown section of it. I know you’re really good with navigation. Do you think you can do that for me? Please?”131Please respect copyright.PENANAsnLB9p6fyv
Officer Jordan nodded, “I will, sir.” She had an amazing accent, “I know you have to stay on line with the dispatcher, so I know you can’t chase after the suspect. I will navigate my way through the woods and take the route Makenna took. If she needs help, I swear I’ll help her.”131Please respect copyright.PENANAF68nirYgoo
Officer Camden smiled at her, “Thank you. You are a true fighter, Lilly. Now go!” Officer Jordan nodded. She reached for her belt and took a flashlight off it. Since the sun had gone down, nighttime was quickly settling in over Johns Island. Jordan held her flashlight tightly, and putting her brown hair up in a bun, she adjusted the cop hat she wore over her head and focused ahead on the woods, smiling slyly. Then, she took off, and Officer Camden watched her from behind.
Once Officer Jordan vanished into the woods, he peered down on Tracey and held his radio close to his lips.131Please respect copyright.PENANAhs9jJP3KU1
Before long, the dispatcher was heard again. “Is he still unconscious?” she asked Camden.131Please respect copyright.PENANAkWkNN63lJ2
He gulped and whimpered, “Yes.”131Please respect copyright.PENANA5j9UHggziE
“Okay. Hang on, the paramedics are almost there. If you need to, start performing CPR on him.”131Please respect copyright.PENANAdgu5maCbVk
“Right.” Camden voiced, and still peering down on motionless Tracey, he looked him up and down to check if he was breathing.
Peter Nelson actually made it to the woods without being caught by the officers. He hurried through an overgrown section of it – a section he was sure he would lose the police in – and peered behind him. He smirked. He didn’t see the officers. Yes, he had lost them! He continued to rush through the woods. At one point, he tripped, but he managed to catch himself. Peter Nelson wanted to make sure he was well hidden and in a place where the officers would surely never find him! Therefore, he kept up his pace.
Peter Nelson soon reached a small creek, in an open, beautiful area of the woods. Since the sun had gone down, it was dark here, but his eyes adjusted to it. Peter prepared to cross the creek, but suddenly, from out of nowhere, gusted a blast of wind, and it hit him, throwing him back! He crashed onto the wood’s floor, and his head barely missed a log. Quickly, Peter sat up and focused his attention forward. A blue blur suddenly appeared in front of him, and he gasped. It was Makenna! Makenna had appeared! She was the one who had summoned the wind that knocked him back. She stood in front of Peter, and she was furious. Raeven, who rested on her shoulder, was too. Makenna was ready to beat Peter up. She stomped to him, and terrified, he leaped to his feet and tried to run. However, before he could escape again, Makenna lifted her fist, and she punched him in the nose! Yelling, Peter grabbed his nose and fell to the ground. It was bleeding. Blood stained his hand. After a bit, Peter let his nose go, and his eyes widened when he saw the blood.131Please respect copyright.PENANAD6jT37VWdW
Focusing his attention on furious Makenna Delling, he yelled, “Spare me! Give me a chance!”131Please respect copyright.PENANA2Qj2eQPLP4
“What about Tracey?!” Makenna angrily yelled, “Did you give him a chance, you two face phony?! Huh?! I trusted you, Peter! I seriously thought you were the nicest guy in the entire world, and then what do I hear?! I hear you’ve been bullying Tracey and you’ve been plotting to kill me all along! What kind of person does that tell you who you are?! You’re a criminal, Peter! Thanks to your bullying, Tracey’s committing his own suicide! He’s pretty much dead!” Peter again grabbed hold of his bloody nose, and reaching forward, he shoved Makenna’s chest and knocked her to the ground. Raeven growled and prepared to attack, but Makenna stopped him by holding up her hand.131Please respect copyright.PENANAoWyZKxINbG
Peter approached her and yelled, “I don’t care if that scum Tracey dies, Makenna! I hope he dies! If it wasn’t for him, then my plan would’ve actually succeeded!”131Please respect copyright.PENANAsj8tAudzZs
“You’re disgusting!” Makenna yelled, and she shot Peter the evil death glare, “You’re a totally lame excuse for oxygen, Peter! I’m not going to let you escape! You’re going to pay for what you did to Tracey!” She leaped to her feet and prepared a spell. Peter dodged it though when she shot it. He knocked Makenna to the ground again and took off running. She flapped her wings and chased after him. Raeven decided to stay behind and wait for the police. He would lead them to Makenna and the suspect when they came.
Since Makenna was a fairy and could use magic, Peter didn’t get far. She suddenly appeared in front of him, similar to what Tracey did, and released another blast of wind, which threw him back again. She then decided to try her dragon trick. Just before she released the dragon though, she heard sirens in the distance, ambulance sirens. They were gradually getting closer and closer. Makenna gasped. She knew that was the ambulance coming to her school. Sirens said there was a medical emergency occurring.131Please respect copyright.PENANA0LMzHY9iN2
She focused her attention back on Peter Nelson and yelled, “This is for Tracey!” She closed her eyes and clenched her fists, yelling. She released her dragon. Its form this time looked like the Chinese dragon. It roared and circled the Metamorphic Fairy from her heels up. Her long, warrior-styled hair waved, and she held her wand over her head. Makenna acted out a twirl ad pointed it forward. She ordered her dragon to attack Peter.131Please respect copyright.PENANAVfSEVTGuN5
It did. Roaring, it soared toward him, and Peter asked, “Uh?” The dragon’s nose met his tummy and threw him back. He hugged its nose. The dragon slammed him onto the dirt and knocked him out. It roared one last time. Then, it went poof, like before, and turned into blue sparkles that rained down.
Soon after it did, Makenna heard the voice of Officer Jordan,131Please respect copyright.PENANAO8tNHrP9hW
“Makenna!” She recognized her accent.131Please respect copyright.PENANAFWahV3wA1X
She recognized it immediately, “Officer Jordan!” Makenna whirled around, and a flashlight shone on her.131Please respect copyright.PENANAVBM66Fdhtm
Officer Jordan stood in front of her, – she was the one holding the flashlight – and she gripped her knees, out of breath. “Whew,” she gasped, and she took deep breaths, “Running. Sorry, Makenna, but Officer Camden asked me to help. Whew.” She stood up straight, “Are you all right?”131Please respect copyright.PENANAnKIgot7BZp
Makenna nodded, “Yes, ma’am.” She and Jordan approached one another and started a conversation. Makenna explained what she did to Peter and how she caught up with him. After she did, Officer Jordan stepped away from her and spoke into her radio. While she did, Makenna listened to the sirens. They were very close now. After a bit, instead of loud wails, they had short, quick ones as a message for people to move out of the way. The ambulance must’ve just made it to Makenna’s school. She had to hurry back to Tracey, but at the same time, she didn’t want to fly off and leave Officer Jordan alone with Peter Nelson. She feared that he would wake up and attack her. Makenna just decided to wait until she finished her call and more police assistance came.
While she waited, behind her, Peter woke up. He shook his head and sat up, gripping his bloody nose. His eyes landed on Makenna, and he glared. As quiet as a mouse, he reached forward and picked up a rock resting further away from him. It was a good-sized rock. With the rock on hand, Peter slowly sat up and started to approach Makenna’s back. He held the rock up toward her head and prepared to strike. Makenna didn’t see him. Officer Jordan soon wrapped up her conversation over the radio, and she turned her body toward Makenna Delling.131Please respect copyright.PENANAJhAFXDOnsD
Her eyes fell upon Peter Nelson approaching her with the rock, and she gasped, yelling, “Makenna, watch out!” into her radio by mistake. Lowering it, she put it up. Officer Jordan hurried to Makenna and flung herself in between her and Peter. “Hey!” she yelled, and she grabbed his wrist and stopped him from hitting Makenna, “I don’t think we need this, sir, yeah?” She took the rock out of Peter’s hand and tossed it onto the ground. “You’re just getting yourself in even more trouble.” Officer Jordan told him, “Any reason why, sir?” She reached into her back pocket and took out a pair of handcuffs.131Please respect copyright.PENANAhyWRhkAPx3
She slipped them onto Peter’s wrists, and he glared. “Man, you’re ridiculous,” he said, and he tried to break free, but Officer Jordan held him tightly.131Please respect copyright.PENANAwfyoKEhDZA
“Ridiculous or not,” she spoke, “I’m still merely doing my job. I’ve sworn to protect citizens from nuisances like you, Mr. Nelson. You know you’ve committed a crime, and you should also know that running away from your problems isn’t going to make them any better.” Peter Nelson had had it with her. He spit in Officer Jordan’s face and jerked her wrists as an attempt to stop her from putting the handcuffs on! Makenna gasped. Officer Jordan remained calm though. She put Peter in cuffs and rubbed the spit from her cheek, saying, “Thank you so much for that gift, sir. I was getting a little hot. Makenna,” She glanced at Makenna, “I’ve got him. You on the other hand should probably return to your friend. I believe the medics just arrived at your school. You did well tonight, young lady, but let the police handle this from here, yeah?” She saw other flashlights in the distance.131Please respect copyright.PENANAbiqrt5MPcn
Her cop amigos had made it. “But, Officer Jordan.” Makenna protested.131Please respect copyright.PENANAJYaHjTc7J9
“I’ll be fine,” she told her, and she locked the cuffs around Peter’s wrists, “Don’t worry about me. The others officers are coming. Now go on.” Makenna was nervous for her safety, but then her eyes caught the flashlights coming toward her and Jordan. Makenna made sure those flashlights belonged to Officer Jordan’s amigos.131Please respect copyright.PENANALYdfKAjLvn
When she was sure they did, she decided to follow her orders. Makenna nodded and voiced, “Thank you. I owe you, Officer Jordan.” She flapped her crystal wings and slowly lifted into the air. Momentarily, Makenna stopped and double checked to make sure that the flashlights did belong to other cops. They did. The other cops – the ones who had followed Peter into the woods – had finally found him. Raeven had helped lead them to the creek, but he had taken off to go get Merlin. Makenna wondered where he was, but then she thought that maybe he took off to get extra help. Therefore, she nodded and waved down to Officer Jordan. “Bye, Officer Jordan!” she announced, “Thank you!” She blew Peter a raspberry and held her nose up to the sky. Without looking back, she took off, and Peter, Officer Jordan, and the other cops watched as she flew away.131Please respect copyright.PENANAU6r8NyqLTq
Jordan waved and said, “Bye,” back.
Makenna flew her fastest back to her school and landed gently in the parking lot. Yes, she was getting better at landing. People stared at her, but Makenna simply ignored them. She searched the parking lot and sighed with relief when she saw that yes, the ambulance had finally made it. It had parked as close as it could to the crowd of officers surrounding Tracey, and its lights were flashing. Makenna saw the paramedics. However, she gasped at what she saw. She was too late! The officers had moved aside, a gurney was resting next to Tracey, and Makenna knew the paramedics were performing CPR on him. She just knew it.131Please respect copyright.PENANAmGdBLzilNb
She could see the medic’s arms, the one who was working on him, moving up and down. “Oh no!” Makenna yelled, “I’m too late!” She brought her hands to her mouth.
Caleb soon joined her and yelled, “Makenna!” However, Makenna pushed right by him and hurried toward her friend. She tried to approach him, but an officer pulled her back and gave the paramedics their space. “Tracey no!” Makenna yelled. She waited for him to turn into ash. She was 99% certain he would by now.131Please respect copyright.PENANA8yeY48MBQ5
The paramedic pushing hard and fast on his bare chest, Dr. Johnson, begged, “Come on, kid! Breathe!” He removed his hands from Tracey’s chest and quickly put a defibrillator to it. He failed though to revive his heart.
After his first attempt, one of Dr. Johnson’s partners calmly but worriedly said,131Please respect copyright.PENANAN1bbAsWhwe
“No response.” Dr. Johnson refused to give up. He knew he could revive this fairy. He just knew it. He tried again with the defibrillator. Again, he failed. “No response,” again spoke his partner. Dr. Johnson kept on trying, and his partner kept on repeating, “No response.” Makenna couldn’t help herself.131Please respect copyright.PENANASSYrwxTAYN
She broke into tears and begged, “Please no. Tracey, no!” She closed her eyes and returned to his mostly dead mind.
Inside it, she could see his mind’s world crumbling down.131Please respect copyright.PENANAwLJDxiEqV3
Makenna tried her best to give him back his confidence. “Don’t do this to yourself, Tracey!” she begged, “Please! You can’t die!” She sprinted through his crumbling mind and moved out of the way as images of rocks fell toward her. Makenna found herself standing in front of a vast, beautiful ocean, and she saw that she was standing on an image of Merlin’s Island. This image told her that all Tracey wanted was to go home. “I’m going to take you home, Tracey!” Makenna yelled, “And you’re going to get better! I promise! Just, please. Trust me one last time.” She fell to her knees, “Tracey please. Don’t die. Don’t turn into ash. I promise I will do whatever I can to help you. I promise I will never lie to you ever again. I promise I’ll be a better friend.” She was crying both in Tracey’s mind and outside of it. Inside it, she stuck her hand into the ocean’s water and felt as it dropped, and the ocean became shallower. Tracey’s mind world was crumbling, and once it all fell down and broke apart, he would be gone. “Please.” Makenna begged, “I’m so sorry for everything I did. I’m so sorry I let Peter treat you that way, but I promise I will never let someone else pick on you the way he did. I’m going to help you with your struggle, both against the human world and the Octopus Man. I’m not going to let him take you in the future. I swear to it. We’ll become merfairies together, and together, we will defeat him and free you from your prison. Trust me. I’m begging you, Tracey. Trust me.” Makenna closed her eyes and sobbed as hard as she could, both inside and outside of Merlin’s apprentice’s mind.
Tracy’s mind world was really close to fading away now. However, Makenna didn’t give up.131Please respect copyright.PENANAVPEFzbM4vP
She kept on trying to give him back his confidence, “We’re going to become the most awesome fairy team ever, Trace! I know we’re going to be friends for the rest of our lives. You have to understand that I care about you. You may not think that, but I do. You have been accepted into the Delling family, Tracey. You’re not alone, not anymore.” Makenna continued to sob. Her tears fell like fountains. “I am a Metamorphic Fairy,” was her last line, “and it is my duty to protect my fairy friends!” That line proved to Tracey that yes, Makenna had truly changed. She did deserve her new transformation. She helped him realize that no, not every human was a bully.
Makenna kept on crying, but then suddenly, Tracey’s mind world started to come back together! Rocks returned to their rightful location, and Makenna gasped when she felt that the ocean was rising again. She opened her eyes and looked up.131Please respect copyright.PENANAJgR7AU4N5P
Everything around her brightened up, and for the first time in forever, a sun appeared, and its rays scanned the Metamorphic Fairy! “What’s going on?” she chokingly asked. She felt herself lifting off the ground, and she peered down. A sudden flash of bright light blinded her, and like before she started to spin. “AHH!!” she screamed. Tracey’s mind world continued to brighten while she spun. Before she knew it, young Makenna Delling popped out of his mind, and she returned to the real world.
She inhaled and exhaled. Inhaled and exhaled.131Please respect copyright.PENANAVwZ5vrJsSw
Another officer was holding her by the arm, and he asked, “Are you all right, Makenna?” to her. Makenna found that she was resting on hands and knees. She lifted her head, and her eyes landed on Tracey and the paramedics. They were still using the defibrillator on him, but Makenna could tell they were worried. All hope was lost. Tracey was dead. Or was he?131Please respect copyright.PENANAVwihpOAZEe
Dr. Johnson, the paramedic who was using the defibrillator on him, shook his head and clenched his teeth, “No response.” His eyes watered. He tried the defibrillator one last time. Tracey still didn’t respond. Dr. Johnson took the defibrillator off his bare chest and whimpered, “We were too late.” Right after he said that, sadness flashed across every single person’s face.131Please respect copyright.PENANAgzKpIeUjan
Gina, who was sitting on Caleb’s shoulder who was standing next to Jessica and Jimmy, cried and lowered her head. “No,” she whimpered, “No. Not my friend. Not my best friend.” The Charleston County police officers, to show their respects, took off their hats and held them in front of their chests. Mr. Gheesling and Dr. Medford were also watching the scene, and they pulled each other into a hug. Dr. Johnson set the defibrillator down and again shook his head. He peered into Tracey’s white face and lowered his own head. He felt awful that he and his partners weren’t able to revive a kid. He felt like a murderer. After a bit, he slowly lifted his head, and his eyes landed on a tuft of black hair that rested on the left side of Tracey’s nose. Dr. Johnson lifted his hand and reached for it. He wanted to pull the tuft out of Tracey’s face so he could get a good glance at it. Makenna watched as he did this, and tears streamed down her cheeks. She waited. She waited for the wind to blow and turn Tracey into ash. Dr. Johnson’s hand reached his face, and he prepared to pull the tuft aside.
Suddenly though, from out of nowhere, Tracey woke up, and gasping for air, he snatched the paramedic’s wrist! Everybody jumped when this happened, but none jumped as hilariously as Dr. Johnson did. Makenna gasped. Gasps came from all over. The paramedics did it! They revived Tracey! His newborn heart was beating like crazy, and he looked very bewildered. Makenna was so shocked that she fell backwards and crawled away from him. She couldn’t believe this! She gripped her knees as hard as she could. Tracey coughed and inhaled breaths of air. He propped up on his elbows, and his eyes examined the crowd surrounding him. He had no idea what was going on. Why were all these people crowded around him? Makenna stared at him. Everybody stared.131Please respect copyright.PENANA7k0XXLmd9I
After a minute or two of intent staring, Tracey opened his mouth and weakly spoke, “Merlin. I am so dead.” Agonizing pain exploded in his wings. Still taking deep breaths, Merlin’s young apprentice lied back down, and his eyes drooped.131Please respect copyright.PENANAXC96POjJXB
“We-We did it.” Dr. Johnson stammered, “We-We revived him.” From Caleb’s shoulder, Gina looked up, and her eyes landed on semiconscious Tracey’s bare chest that bounced up and down again. She gasped and tried to fly to her friend, but Caleb pulled her back. The paramedics may have revived Tracey, but it didn’t mean that the emergency was over. He still had to get his wings dealt with. Tracey continued to take deep breaths, but it soon changed to heavy breathing.131Please respect copyright.PENANADSE1I3I8fL
He met Dr. Johnson’s eyes and feebly begged, “Ple-Please don’t take me to the ho-hospital, si-sir. I-I’m all-all right.”131Please respect copyright.PENANAnW6KoPCK2x
“You’re not all right!” Dr. Johnson snapped, and he rubbed his eyes, “You stopped breathing! We had to put a defibrillator on you! We have to take you to the hospital, son! These wings of yours need to come off! They’re too badly infected!”131Please respect copyright.PENANAOFooZR2d9v
“No!” Tracey begged, “Please! Don’t let them am-amputate my wi-wings! I-I love them!” He couldn’t stay conscious for long. The pain was just too great. Tracey continued to plead, “Ple-Please, si-sir! Anything but a hospital!”131Please respect copyright.PENANA8fwxEq800S
“It’ll be okay,” calmly spoke Dr. Johnson, and he took the fairy’s hand, “Stay with us though, son.” Tracey couldn’t. He just couldn’t. He closed his eyes, and his head fell to the left. Tracey slipped back into unconsciousness, and sweat ran down his face. The paramedics worked quickly. They put an oxygen mask over the young fairy’s nose and mouth and worked together to grab him and drag him onto the gurney they had brought.
From where she sat, Makenna remained seated and watched them. In all her fourteen years of living, she had never seen something as scary as that. What was even scarier, her friend was the one who stopped breathing. She still wasn’t totally recovered from that trauma. That was even scarier than the night she had to take Tracey to Selene on North Beach! Although, she was somewhat glad they had the paramedics take care of him this time. At least they weren’t freaking out about her and Tracey being fairies. They covered him up with the sheet and kept the defibrillator on hand just in case he stopped breathing again.131Please respect copyright.PENANAsFtQy0tvaD
When they were sure Tracey was at least a little comfortable, they rushed him toward the ambulance and yelled, “Stay with us!” Dr. Johnson’s hand hovered over Tracey’s chest, and his head jiggled back and forth from the jerking of the stretcher, but he didn’t wake up. He was dreaming.
He dreamt he was flying over the ocean, and he made it back to Merlin’s Island. When he got there, he found his parents! Though they were only blurry images, he could tell they were related. Tracey never knew his father, – he barely remembered his mother – but he knew he was looking at his parents.131Please respect copyright.PENANAyPDKDd2u7M
At the sight of them, he actually cracked a feeble smile, “Mom! Dad! You’ve come back!” Tracey hurried toward them. Gina appeared behind him and followed. In his dream, Tracey was himself again, but that wasn’t the case at all outside.
Outside, he was unconscious and in a lot of pain. Makenna Delling hurried toward him, but Caleb, Jessica, and Jimmy stopped her.131Please respect copyright.PENANA0kPa0mH0pS
“What’s wrong with him?” Jessica asked, but Makenna pushed right by her and grabbed Caleb’s hand,131Please respect copyright.PENANAGyDtUnBWtF
“Not now, Jessica! I have to go after him and get Caleb home! I’ll text you about it when I can! Jimmy.” She turned toward Jimmy and feebly smiled, “Thank you. Thank you for saving my life. I’m so sorry for my behavior lately.”131Please respect copyright.PENANADyUxkvLvSj
“And I am too,” said Jimmy, “Tell Tracey I hope he makes a good recovery. Sorry for everything I’ve done, Fairy, I mean Makenna.”131Please respect copyright.PENANAmsLkMD4eLO
“You’re all right.” Makenna said, “You can call me Fairy Girl, Jimmy. Thank you.” She gave Jimmy a hug and Jessica one as well. Letting go, she saluted at Dr. Medford and Mr. Gheesling who had disconnected, and they saluted back. She then flapped her wings and outlined Caleb with her magic. Makenna lifted both him and her into the sky and flew toward the ambulance. She knew she couldn’t ride with Tracey in it because she was under eighteen, but she could follow it.
The paramedics quickly loaded him into the back of it, and Dr. Johnson again begged,131Please respect copyright.PENANAYj2jXDQdcc
“Stay with us!” He and two other paramedics climbed into the back with the patient while two more climbed into the front. The doors closed, and the rescue vehicle told people to move out of the way by short siren wails again. When it turned onto the main road and headed toward Seabrook Island, they returned to long ones. Makenna clutched Caleb’s hand and gained altitude. She soared after the ambulance. She could easily see it by its flashing lights. Makenna just followed the lights.
Soon after the ambulance left, Officer Lilly Jordan and a few of her cop amigos returned from the woods behind the school, and she held Peter Nelson.131Please respect copyright.PENANAukCVWWupNr
She led him toward a police car and asked, “Did you have this plot planned all along?” in her British accent.131Please respect copyright.PENANAdtIjVAvszl
Peter rolled his eyes. “Yeah,” he answered, and he looked away from Officer Jordan.131Please respect copyright.PENANAfAogdpgQAF
“Yeah?” she asked, “Well, we can talk about it in court. I’m sure you have quite an interesting story for the judge.”131Please respect copyright.PENANAkreCHKjGuN
She led Peter Nelson to the police car where his father stood, and he glanced at him, asking, “What happened to your nose, Pete?”131Please respect copyright.PENANAMPjuaxy8Pw
“Shut up!” Peter yelled, and he forced his father into the back of the police car. He made one last attempt to free himself from Officer Jordan. He lifted his foot and kicked her hard in the leg! Kicked her! Peter Nelson kicked a female cop! That would look awesome in court. His kick hurt her, but Officer Jordan went ahead and shoved him into the police car. She waved goodbye to Peter Nelson, but he simply glared at her. Before long, the police car took off, and Jordan watched it leave. Once the flashing lights vanished, she reached for her leg and massaged it.131Please respect copyright.PENANA0EeWOaPgtW
Officer Hobbs soon approached her and asked, “Did he hurt you, Lilly?”131Please respect copyright.PENANAumvKEqQAXz
Officer Jordan smiled, “Nope,” and removing her hand from her leg, she stood up straight, “That actually felt really good.”131Please respect copyright.PENANAsLLorkIT2h
Where Officer Camden stood, he brought his radio to his lips and said, “Officer Camden. Mission complete.”
