Gina soon returned to the beach after her flight through the jungle, and in her claws, she held the pain medicines Merlin wanted.172Please respect copyright.PENANAqZeBBxRJVN
She called to him, “Merlin!” and he heard her, but he whispered,172Please respect copyright.PENANAxzvw6yDrIU
“Shh!” and held his finger to his lips, “He’s asleep.” He pointed at Tracey. He was resting on his side, with a blanket over him that Merlin had created, and he was breathing silently. Gina landed next to the great wizard who was still pale, and she dropped the pills into his hands. “Thank you, Gina.” Merlin whispered, and Gina seemed to blush. Next, he turned to Tracey, “Poor kid. I know how much he loves to fly. Did you know that he only flies east to west?”172Please respect copyright.PENANA1Y62sJXNfn
“What?” Gina asked through telepathy, “What are you talking about, Merlin?”172Please respect copyright.PENANA7rO3eJtRz4
“Well, he just said that he does.” Merlin answered.172Please respect copyright.PENANA4xCNgrDSPX
“He’s probably sleep talking, sir, and when you sleep talk you sometimes can say some pretty random things.”172Please respect copyright.PENANAJ3rEbpsDyF
“Right.” Merlin voiced. He nodded, “Sorry, Gina. I think my brain’s just fried. I’m pretty tired. I’m going to go ahead and give him these.” Gina watched as he lifted his hand and attempted to give Tracey the medicine, but once again, surprisingly, he refused! He simply moved his head away from Merlin’s hand and groaned. Fear flashed across his master’s face, and he said, “Uh oh,” in a panicked voice.172Please respect copyright.PENANAzdnWSLQr9h
“Uh oh?” asked Gina, “What do you mean ‘Uh oh,’ Merlin?”172Please respect copyright.PENANAYmgNsoiCz6
Merlin gulped, “He’s refusing again. I think he thinks the medicine is food.”172Please respect copyright.PENANAcCns2B6ZCn
“Refusing?” questioned Gina, “Oh no. That’s a big uh oh.”172Please respect copyright.PENANANBQcu0kQ8Q
“Tracey,” Merlin explained to his apprentice, “you’ve got to take these if you want to get better. This isn’t food. It’s medicine. That’s it.” By the second try, he managed to get Tracey to finally accept the pills. Merlin sighed, as did Gina. He shook his head and explained to the tern, “I’m still really worried. We’ve got to get some food in him, Gina.”172Please respect copyright.PENANAgEj4x3YYqk
He rubbed Tracey’s warm cheek and gulped. “I’ll make sure he eats something when we get to Seabrook Island,” promised Gina, “Trust me.”172Please respect copyright.PENANA6RaFbAmP6y
Merlin glanced at her and narrowed his eyebrows. “Gina,” he said in a stern voice, “Now you’ve got to promise me!” He held his finger up to the tern’s beak, “You’ve got to promise me that you will take really good care of him! He shouldn’t leave in the first place, especially if at times he still refuses to take the medicine, but I know how much Makenna means to him. On your way to Seabrook Island, make sure you fly high so it won’t be easy for the Octopus Man to spot him. Until Makenna becomes a merfairy and defeats him, Tracey’s going to remain under that spell. You’ve got to make sure he doesn’t get too close to the ocean or any body of water in conclusion.”172Please respect copyright.PENANAkk938aafPl
“I will, Merlin.” Gina spoke, and she nodded, “And I promise we’ll succeed in this mission. Makenna is going to become a Crystal Metamorphic Fairy, and you are going to regain control of your powers. I give you my word.”172Please respect copyright.PENANAgz1P8sxJVA
“Thank you, Gina,” said Merlin, and he peered down on Tracey again, “Well,” He sighed, “you guys should probably get going. Let Tracey sleep on the way back to Seabrook Island though. Try not to wake him up.”172Please respect copyright.PENANA5Vq3O57qxP
“Yes, sir, I’ll make sure he sleeps. He needs the rest.” Gina bent back her knees and crouched. She held her long wings out to her sides and added, “I’ll carry him. From this point on, I’ll be his wings. Are you going to be able to shrink him?”172Please respect copyright.PENANAjoDnCdvUne
“I believe so.” Merlin answered. He cleared his throat, “All right, Tracey, I’m going to have to shrink you so you’ll be able to ride on Gina’s back. You’ll be okay. I promise.” Merlin took a deep breath. He closed his eyes and rested his hand on Tracey’s back. It glowed up blue, and before long, Tracey too glowed up. He shrunk down to two inches tall, as did Makenna’s surfboard, and Gina quickly caught him and the surfboard on her back. She smiled at Merlin. He was examining his hands. “I did it,” he said after a bit, “I actually managed to perform a spell without it backfiring. Thank you. Now remember, Gina.” He lowered his hands and focused his attention on the tern, “Make sure you take really good care of him. Good luck.”172Please respect copyright.PENANAnEuhPxfbP8
“Thank you, Merlin.” Gina said back, “Good luck to you too. I promise, we’ll be back in two wing flaps.”172Please respect copyright.PENANAjU9Yo7NTGu
“Tell Makenna I wish her luck too.”172Please respect copyright.PENANAgFYqfbbvDE
“I will. See you soon, Merlin.”172Please respect copyright.PENANAH4rZnI27aP
“See you soon, Gina.” Merlin watched as the tern carefully lifted into the sky, with Tracey on her back, and she waved goodbye with her wing. Then, she flapped her wings and shot into the sky. Merlin watched from down below. He watched until the tern disappeared from sight. Then, he fell onto the sand and begged, “Please, Makenna, please. I know you can become a Crystal Metamorphic Fairy.”
Makenna Delling did a decent job hiding Raeven until the pep rally. It started right after 8th Period ended. Makenna returned to homeroom, with her backpack hugged to her breasts, and she looked really tired. She was walking really slowly. It was her magic. It was dying, and so was she. Makenna slumped over to her desk and shakily sat down. She placed her backpack on her thighs. Makenna sighed.172Please respect copyright.PENANAYSCiq2JCcH
Raeven soon popped up from the inside of her backpack, and he asked, “Are you okay, Makenna?” to the fairy.172Please respect copyright.PENANAHkN4zXTVsi
“Yeah,” she tiredly answered, “I’m fine, Raeven. I’m just a little tired. Get back in there please.” She pushed Raeven back inside her backpack and zipped it up but not entirely. Raeven needed air. She didn’t want him to suffocate. Soon after she dealt with the bat, she was approached by Jessica, and she waved, “Hey, Jessica.”172Please respect copyright.PENANAeMyH8PYjvv
“Hi, Makenna. Are you feeling all right? You look a little pale.”172Please respect copyright.PENANAymrSklRF3y
Makenna nodded, “I’m fine, Jessica, don’t worry. There’s just a lot going on in my mind right now.”172Please respect copyright.PENANA9Qh7hXlRZJ
“Ah,” spoke Jessica. She focused in on her friend’s face, “How’s Tracey doing?”172Please respect copyright.PENANAGVHXv0c8Yv
“Oh, you know,” said Makenna. She shrugged, “he’s still a little under the weather. But he’ll be okay.”172Please respect copyright.PENANARf9Ryu8nku
“Do you want to talk about it?”172Please respect copyright.PENANAQCgbJwPLHF
“I’d prefer not to.”172Please respect copyright.PENANAGEmO9uZRrg
“That’s okay.” Jessica next glanced at Makenna’s book bag because she thought she saw something moving inside it, “Are you excited about the pep rally? What’s in your bag? I thought I just saw something move.”172Please respect copyright.PENANAz90GhcB0uM
Makenna gulped, “Nothing!” She set her backpack down on the floor, “Nothing’s in my bag, Jessica! No need to be alarmed!”172Please respect copyright.PENANAc4qzN21m4l
From inside the bag, through telepathy, Raeven told her, “Very smooth.”172Please respect copyright.PENANA692NUVP6HT
“Raeven.” Makenna mumbled.172Please respect copyright.PENANAFAl0b0cUZB
“Raeven?” asked Jessica, “Who in Sam heck is Raeven?”172Please respect copyright.PENANA9Izt7yC3tT
“Tell her I’m her worst enemy,” said Raeven, “Tell her I’m a large flying mammal from the family Pteropodidae. Tell her Achoo was the name of my best friend. Tell her I’m a bat!”172Please respect copyright.PENANADWszMzLQFm
“He’s a bat!” Makenna suddenly yelped at Jessica.172Please respect copyright.PENANAeuO3iugSWp
“Bat?” she asked. She was obviously very confused.172Please respect copyright.PENANAwXnhE6O7vS
Makenna gulped, “I mean, he’s like a bat! He nocturnal, he lives in caves, and he hangs upside-down from the ceiling.”172Please respect copyright.PENANAoIzj0q78BR
“Nice save.” Raeven told her.172Please respect copyright.PENANAvqKDehCKCm
“Shut up!” Makenna snappily mumbled.172Please respect copyright.PENANAdQtwcxGDoN
“Shut up?” Jessica asked her, “Shut up? What is going on, Makenna?! What are you hiding?!” Her voice was getting louder by the second.172Please respect copyright.PENANAPPi1BDTnei
“Uh, nothing,” stammered Makenna, “If I tell you,” She sighed, “you won’t believe me.”172Please respect copyright.PENANAC1GS8ryNNR
“Tell me what?!” snapped Jessica, “You can tell me anything, Makenna! I’m your best friend!”172Please respect copyright.PENANAkfkedIBCys
“You won’t believe me.” Makenna groaned.
Just before Jessica could open her mouth and argue back, suddenly, the voice of Mrs. Hector was heard,172Please respect copyright.PENANA8tpkgKoRUF
“Students!” She appeared at the doorway of her room, “Did you not hear the bell? It’s time to go to the courtyard for the pep rally!” Immediately, all the students, except Makenna, hurried toward the door. They piled out of it and landed in the hallway. “Chop, chop!” Mrs. Hector told them. She clapped her hands together. Makenna had been left behind. She didn’t want to go to the pep rally. She didn’t think she deserved to go to it. She propped her head up on her desk and rolled a pen up and down its face. Makenna sighed.
Mrs. Hector soon approached her, and slowly lifting her head, Makenna peered into her eyes.172Please respect copyright.PENANAMEU0FdIZDq
“Miss Delling,” asked Mrs. Hector, “aren’t you coming?”172Please respect copyright.PENANALe5uzZNppq
“I don’t believe I deserve to go to the pep rally.” Makenna sighed. She lowered her head.172Please respect copyright.PENANAIJaqwAeu7Q
In her head, she heard Raeven, “Coward,” but she didn’t answer back.172Please respect copyright.PENANANeHhgAkTxD
“Deserve?” Mrs. Hector soon asked the Soon to Be a Crystal Metamorphic Fairy, “What do you mean you don’t think you deserve to go to the pep rally?” She reached back and grabbed a chair. Mrs. Hector pulled it up next to the fourteen-year-old and sat down. She rested her arms on her desk’s face and looked Makenna in the face, “This is the greatest day of Spirit Week. You should be proud to go to the pep rally; you shouldn’t think you don’t deserve to go to it. You’ll be able to spend some time with your friends. What’s bothering you, Makenna? I know something’s bothering you. Are you worried about your friend?” She was referring to Tracey.
Makenna sighed.172Please respect copyright.PENANAyUN0T0Nr8m
“A little bit,” she admitted, “Yeah, I am, Mrs. Hector. He’s not doing too well.”172Please respect copyright.PENANALNdlPGfGMi
“What’s wrong with him?”172Please respect copyright.PENANA84p5K8fTZs
“I can’t answer that. It’s too complicated.” Makenna placed her backpack on her desk and started rolling the pen up and down the surface of her desk again. Tears had appeared in the sides of her eyes. She knew Tracey was alive, she felt it, but she also felt that he was totally out of sorts. She felt how sick he was. Makenna sighed, and closing her eyes, she mumbled, “We should’ve taken him to the hospital immediately after we picked him up on the beach.”172Please respect copyright.PENANA3IZaehRsXq
“Aw what’s your problem now?” Raeven asked her through telepathy, “You’re now all worried that your beau is going to dump you because your friends with Merlin’s apprentice? Look at me. Look at me, Miss Delling. I’m an amazing, articulate bat who is in dire need of a friend. Not to mention, I do have my good looks.” Makenna talked back to him.172Please respect copyright.PENANAnVvL9uDPQ9
Another telepathic conversation started between the two. “You’re a bat,” she told Raeven. It appeared as if Makenna was looking into space.172Please respect copyright.PENANAXMO7lkbVNI
Mrs. Hector even waved her hand in front of her face and said, “Whoo-hoo.”172Please respect copyright.PENANAd1QUxf0zbU
Inside Makenna’s book bag, Raeven sighed and sadly mumbled, “Nobody cares about me.”172Please respect copyright.PENANAuL3FJQb4XA
“Aw don’t say that, Batman.” Makenna voiced back to him, “I kinda care about you. Remember our deal though, once this stupid pep rally and dance are over with, you’re going to leave me.”
In her backpack, Raeven started to silently cry.172Please respect copyright.PENANA4FFkk8vDgW
“You’re going to throw me out like I’m some kind of animal!” he choked out and said in Makenna’s brain.172Please respect copyright.PENANAU3RkjYt2xd
“You are an animal!” Makenna argued back.172Please respect copyright.PENANAsOLetIDgfK
“So are you! Would your parents throw you out and make you sleep on the cold, hard, rocky grounds of both the human and fairy worlds? I’m a fool, Miss Delling!”172Please respect copyright.PENANAf1QqbfpoWA
“You’re not a fool, Raeven.” Makenna admitted, “You’re just a little annoying.”
“Makenna, are you all right?” Mrs. Hector asked in reality. She snapped her fingers in front of Makenna’s face.172Please respect copyright.PENANAensICoBfUY
She woke up, “Oh!” and shook her head, “Excuse me. Sorry, Mrs. Hector, I tend to talk to myself when I’m stressed out.”172Please respect copyright.PENANAuOnIR5Fvqr
“I don’t want you to be stressed out,” voiced Mrs. Hector, “Come on, Makenna.” She took her arm, “Let’s go outside and enjoy the pep rally. Something tells me you’ve had a rough week.”172Please respect copyright.PENANAUhPaFbaGoC
“Oh, it’s been horrible!” Makenna choked out, “Tracey broke his wings Wednesday during the storm, I’ve been lying like crazy, the Octopus Man is targeting us, and now my life is being tortured by a talking bat!”172Please respect copyright.PENANAWKP9zsX8mq
Raeven was offended, “Ugh! Well!” He wrapped his wings around his body and blocked out the sound of Makenna’s voice.
Outside her book bag, in Mrs. Hector’s homeroom classroom, Mrs. Hector, who clearly didn’t believe what Makenna just told her, sarcastically chortled.172Please respect copyright.PENANA2n1n4xQCk9
“Let’s go to the pep rally okay, Makenna?” she asked the Metamorphic Fairy. She pushed her back and led her toward the door. Makenna peered back to her.172Please respect copyright.PENANAec8f6xKdiZ
Then, her eyes landed on her backpack still resting on her desk. “Wait!” she shouted out. She tried to push by Mrs. Hector, “My backpack!” but Mrs. Hector continued to slide her toward the exit.172Please respect copyright.PENANA8VuYJLv9Zq
“Don’t worry, Makenna,” said she, “You don’t need it. We’re coming back in here after the pep rally so you’ll be able to pick it up. For now, though, let’s have some fun.”172Please respect copyright.PENANAeKZAWyLWod
“But, Mrs. Hector!” Makenna protested, however Mrs. Hector forced her into the hallway. She closed her door behind, but she didn’t lock it.
Raeven was left all alone in Mrs. Hector’s homeroom classroom, and he was still trapped in Makenna’s backpack. “Makenna?” he asked from within in it in English. There was no answer, no answer at all. Raeven tried again, “Makenna?” Again, no answer. “Makenna!” Raeven shouted. Nothing. Finally, the Megabat groaned and told himself, “She ditched me.” He groaned, “Metamorphic Fairies. They’re a hassle. Well, I might as well go after her.” Raeven slowly poked his head out of Makenna’s book bag, and he searched the empty classroom. His nostrils picked up the scent of something. Fruit! Raeven smelled fruit. “Fruit!” he chanted, and his mouth started to water. He searched for the area where the delicious smell was coming from. His eyes landed on a basket of apples sitting on Mrs. Hector’s desk that another teacher had given her for the pep rally. “Mmm.” Raeven said to himself. He leaned toward the apples, “Another perfect scent. Don’t worry, apples, I will put you out of your misery!” Raeven opened his wings. He lifted into the air, flew to the basket of apples, and dove inside. He was swimming in a pool of apples. “Oh, sweet mamma,” the Megabat said when he saw them.
He opened his mouth and prepared to bite down on an apple, but just before he could, suddenly, Mrs. Hector’s door opened, and she appeared in the doorway!172Please respect copyright.PENANAuNe9PQ6SFn
“Hm, now where is that basket of apples?” she asked herself. Raeven gasped. Quickly, he held his breath and dove into the pool of apples, burying himself. Mrs. Hector soon saw the basket of apples, “Ah, there we go.” She approached her desk and picked up the basket, “I most certainly don’t want to forget these. The students will never forgive me if I forget to give them a prize apple for the dance battle.” Mrs. Hector smiled to herself. Then, tucking the basket under her arm, she scurried over to the door and exited her room once again. With her foot this time, she closed the door. Mrs. Hector started down the hallway, and while she walked, Raeven peeped up from the apples he was hiding in and frightfully peered up to her.172Please respect copyright.PENANAwRxTLkMlDq
In his head, he whimpered, “Oh help,” and he quickly hid in the apples again.
The pep rally went well at first, really well. Makenna joined Jessica, and they apologized for snapping at one another, and their friendship immediately was won back.172Please respect copyright.PENANAntE7qDsyOe
While they were waiting for the cheerleaders to give their cheer, they were joined by Jimmy Carter in the courtyard, and he asked if it was okay he hung out with them. “Sure.” Makenna replied. She nodded, “Sure you can hang out with us, Jimmy.”172Please respect copyright.PENANAYSJUc3NWO0
“Thank you,” spoke Jimmy.
While they were chitchatting, suddenly, Natalie walked past them, and she looked as if she was searching for somebody. She was forcibly fanning herself with her hands, and she repeatedly asked, “Where is he? Where is he?”172Please respect copyright.PENANA6La5agrCdW
“Where’s who?” Makenna Delling asked her in a weakened voice. She and Jimmy focused their attention on Natalie, but Jessica was staring at Makenna out the corners of her eyes. She appeared to be a little worried.172Please respect copyright.PENANAF5zHRaeANB
Natalie soon answered Makenna’s question, “Romeo! Where is Romeo?! I want to let him know that I’d be the perfect girlfriend!”172Please respect copyright.PENANAIqgS9XkQUK
“Romeo?” asked Jimmy. Makenna knew Natalie was referring to Tracey.172Please respect copyright.PENANAtPwMeLqHn7
She remembered her calling him Romeo. “He’s not here today okay, Natalie?” she told her, “He’s sick! He’s still in the hospital!”
Jimmy glanced at her.172Please respect copyright.PENANACrpdBgCZEA
“Are you talking about Tracey?” he wanted to know. Makenna nodded. “Personally, Fairy Girl,” continued Jimmy, “I’d actually feel more comfortable if you stick with Tracey instead of Peter Nelson. I can’t help but to just feel like Peter’s planning on doing something nasty to you.”172Please respect copyright.PENANAnA3fLT7Q63
“What?” Makenna asked, “Him? Peter Nelson? He wouldn’t, Jimmy.”172Please respect copyright.PENANAbON2n9mWdM
“What are you talking about?” nervously asked Jessica. She took Makenna’s upper, left arm, “Your mind’s gone ballistic, Jimmy. Peter would never do something nasty to Makenna. I swear to it.”172Please respect copyright.PENANAsgaqi4W9nL
Makenna glared. “That’s right,” she snapped at Jimmy after Jessica, “Peter’s not a bad boy. Jessica and I have been spying on him since the beginning of the school year, and he’s done nothing wrong.”172Please respect copyright.PENANAgQygtHwU34
“What’s this all about?” asked Natalie. She was playing with her hair and putting a braid in it.172Please respect copyright.PENANACdBpDb9RIh
“Relationship issues.” Jimmy answered, “Miss Delling here and Jessica are immobilized by Peter Nelson’s good looks, and they’re totally unaware of the stuff he does to girls!”172Please respect copyright.PENANAiiUoMfQjHO
“What stuff are you ranting about?!” Makenna snapped.
“What are you all talking about?” suddenly asked a voice from out of nowhere. Peter Nelson. It was Peter Nelson. He appeared on the outside of the crowded freshmen, and he was edging toward Makenna.172Please respect copyright.PENANAMwNcL0peEi
All four freshmen glanced at him, and they gasped. “Peter Nelson!” Makenna and Jessica yelped at the same time. Jimmy glared at Peter.172Please respect copyright.PENANA61ptjlz8WF
Noticing this, he asked him, “What’s with the Grumpy Kitty face, Carter? Are you jealous that you don’t have a girlfriend yet? Well, I do so in your face.” He stopped next to Makenna and shooed the others away, “Now shoo, shoo. Go date a tree, but leave Makenna and I alone. We have to go over the plan for tonight.” Makenna waved.172Please respect copyright.PENANA6vQRKa6aRP
“Tallyho,” she spoke, “Goodbye. Leave us alone please.” Jimmy, Natalie, and Jessica started to leave her. “That’s it,” added Makenna, “Goodbye.”172Please respect copyright.PENANAgo4qVn282s
Soon after she and Peter disappeared from sight, Jimmy Carter, who had his suspicious face turned on, grabbed Jessica and Natalie behind a tree and told them, “Girls, we’ve got to save Makenna!”172Please respect copyright.PENANAY9V4FnYhZT
“Save her?!” Jessica choked out, “What do you mean save her, Jimmy?” Jimmy Carter sighed.172Please respect copyright.PENANAilB1btABeI
Finally, he leaned in close to the two girls and whispered to them, “Peter Nelson is planning on murdering her.”
Peter Nelson and Makenna were sitting together on a bench that overlooked the cheerleaders practicing their cheer and students and faculty members roaming. Peter had his arm around Makenna’s shoulders, and he was rubbing her left shoulder. Makenna was blushing like crazy.172Please respect copyright.PENANAzuH3RNha7Y
Soon, she turned her head, and her eyes caught Mrs. Hector approaching a table with the basket of apples held tightly in her hand. She set them down on the table, and seeing the basket, Makenna asked, “Apples? What’s Mrs. Hector doing with a basket of apples?”172Please respect copyright.PENANA3ThyUsOsNJ
“I’m guessing it’s for the dance battle,” answered Peter, “Teachers did mention they were going to throw a dance battle in which each dancer has to come up with a dance that involves the use of an apple.”172Please respect copyright.PENANAbx03LZevzH
“Really?” Makenna asked, “Huh.” Her eyes landed back on the basket of apples, “Interesting. I’ve never heard of a dance like that before.” Behind her back, Peter Nelson smiled evilly. He turned his head and peered down on a bag he wore over his shoulder. In it was the piece of cake he had poisoned.172Please respect copyright.PENANAQdds4D7wn5
Pete reached for it and said, “So, Makenna, since we’re now alone, I was wondering if I could give you something.”172Please respect copyright.PENANA09f3yXSVV4
“Give me something?” Makenna asked. She focused her attention back on her crush, “Give me what, Peter? You don’t have to.”172Please respect copyright.PENANA2tn54MiX1w
“Oh, I want to. I think a beautiful girl like you deserves a nice gift.” He grabbed hold of the tinfoil wrapped around the cake, “Miss Delling, as a thank you gift for letting me go to the dance for you, I want you to have…”172Please respect copyright.PENANATRYon01cbW
“Yes?” asked Makenna.
However, just before Peter could finish, suddenly a whistle was heard, and heads in the courtyard turned toward the whistle. It was Dr. Medford who had blown it.172Please respect copyright.PENANA6PHywv98i0
He was smiling, and he gestured at the cheerleaders who were standing behind him. “Students!” he announced, “I present to you, this school’s very own cheer from our amazing cheerleaders!” There were cheers. People began to clap.172Please respect copyright.PENANA4HZqPmGnfO
Makenna Delling could feel her excitement boiling inside her. “It’s starting!” she shouted. She grabbed Peter’s arm and started to shake it, “The pep rally’s starting, Pete!”
“Before we start the cheer though,” Dr. Medford spoke through the microphone he held, “will all students split up and join their grade level?” Students nodded and quickly joined their grade level.172Please respect copyright.PENANAUqZ9vdPzfB
Makenna turned to Peter Nelson and said, “Sorry, Pete, we’ll talk later! I’m really looking forward to this. Maybe this will lift your spirits.” She leaned forward and kissed Peter’s cheek. Then, grinning, she clenched her fist and hurried to join her grade level.172Please respect copyright.PENANAdpwev2u3E5
Left behind, Peter Nelson was rubbing the cheek that had been pecked. “Here comes that feeling,” he dreamily spoke. Without taking his hand away from his cheek, he turned on his heel and made his way toward his own grade level.
When all the grades were together and spread out, the pep rally officially started.172Please respect copyright.PENANA7mtx8anal3
Dr. Medford again pointed at the cheerleaders, and he yelled, “Give it up for the cheerleaders!” There were more cheers. The cheerleaders began their cheer. They waved their pom poms and started to dance.172Please respect copyright.PENANAPBsNeb1CuF
While they danced, all together they cheered, “Go, go, Johns Island High School! Make a left! Make a right! Show them what we’ve got! Go, go, go! We are winners yeah, we are! Take it to the top and let’s go, go, go, go, go!” A few of the cheerleaders acted out back flips, and they lifted each other into the air. Makenna Delling was watching them fascinated.172Please respect copyright.PENANAFBtnZkxg87
Her hands were put together, and she said, “Wow,” as she watched the cheerleaders.172Please respect copyright.PENANABGxotdSYvf
Where the basket of apples was waiting, Raeven poked his head from out of them and asked, “What’s with all the noise?” His eyes landed on the pep rally. “What is this?” he asked, “It’s making me sick. Where’s Miss Makenna?” He searched the area, “Where is she?” Raeven prepared to fly out of the basket, but then he noticed that a student was looking in his direction, and he quickly dove into the basket of apples again. Peter Nelson, who was watching Makenna from a distance in the crowd of juniors, glared, and he peered into his bag again and down at the piece of cake. He was going to succeed. He knew he was going to succeed, and he wasn’t going to let anyone get in his way! With each passing hour, Makenna’s life was getting closer and closer to ending between Peter Nelson’s plot and the fact that she had not yet given her act of true metamorphosis. Where was Tracey when you needed him? However, just to Makenna’s luck, he was coming, and he was coming right now.
Gina was flying steadily across the Atlantic Ocean. Seabrook Island was coming into view. Tracey had woken up, but due to the medicines he was on and his empty stomach, he was very loopy. He had to try to make sure he wasn’t caught by a cop or someone related to a cop. Although, it wasn’t his fault he had broken wings and had to be put on strong medications. It was the Octopus Man’s fault.172Please respect copyright.PENANA9udcHUUqkB
With his eyes barely open, Tracey chuckled and told Gina, “I see triple Ginas.”172Please respect copyright.PENANAK8XL1EKxDx
“Triple Ginas?” she asked through telepathy, “What are you talking about, Tracey?”172Please respect copyright.PENANARuMpFBqusK
She turned her neck and focused her attention on him. “Are we riding on a rainbow?” he asked, “Are we in the Land of Rainbows?”172Please respect copyright.PENANAowz5nmUZN7
He hugged Makenna’s surfboard close to him. “Rainbows?” questioned Gina, “No, we’re on our way to Seabrook Island to help Makenna. We’re almost there. Just go back to sleep, okay? You need the rest.”172Please respect copyright.PENANAxxAFrhmwe5
“What are you talking about?” asked Tracey, “I feel great. I feel like I could take on a dragon.”172Please respect copyright.PENANAlFkB8uubRe
“Well, good, but we’re not fighting dragons right now. We’re on a rescue mission.” Gina flapped her wings and soared faster.
Finally, she made it to Seabrook Island. She landed and slid Tracey and Makenna’s surfboard off her back which they both landed on the sand and returned to their normal heights. Luckily, nobody saw this. There were some people roaming on the beach today, but most of them were either swimming or tanning. No one was really looking at Gina and Tracey.172Please respect copyright.PENANAB4atawAK7u
Tracey was resting on his front, with Makenna’s surfboard next to him, and he was examining his hand which was in a fist.172Please respect copyright.PENANAA0m3ii5Dee
“Um,” He met Gina’s eyes, “why are we here again?”172Please respect copyright.PENANA5vMjdwjjtC
“To find Makenna.” Gina answered.172Please respect copyright.PENANAKtRIc3WrUf
“Oh,” voiced Tracey. He chuckled a loopy chuckle, “Right. We’re trying to save her life.” He was acting like he was under anesthesia.172Please respect copyright.PENANAC3dJWdRFCa
“Let’s first go to her house.” Gina told Merlin’s apprentice, “There, I’ll probably be able to get you something to eat. You need to get some food in you, Tracey. You haven’t eaten since Tuesday morning.”172Please respect copyright.PENANA1BGDtvw0mL
“I don’t want food.” Tracey mumbled. He chuckled again, “I want to fight a dragon.”172Please respect copyright.PENANAbHe5bU5B9J
“Dragons are all the way in Canada.” Gina explained, “I’m not taking you all the way there, Trace. Come on, let’s just get you to Makenna’s house.” She pushed Tracey’s shoulder with her forehead and forced him to his feet.172Please respect copyright.PENANA3eIY1idZJa
He groaned and slumped backwards, asking, “Are we going to fly to the end of the rainbow, Gina and pick up a pot of gold? We’ll be rich.”172Please respect copyright.PENANAuY1E0gSxu9
“We’re going to Makenna’s house,” said Gina, and she grabbed his shirt sleeve with her beak, “Come on. Come on, young ninja.” She tugged Tracey forward, “Think about the Tunnel of Rambuka. Remember how much fun you had in it? You’re going to have fun here too. I promise. Don’t forget Makenna’s surfboard.”172Please respect copyright.PENANAj9QaKL31nu
“Surfboard?” Tracey questioned, “Is a surfboard at the end of the rainbow instead of a pot of gold?”172Please respect copyright.PENANAqMP7BUWJah
“No,” answered Gina, “The surfboard is right by your ankle.”172Please respect copyright.PENANAeXMG3mBH3m
“Ankle?” Tracey searched his body up and down. It was as if he had forgotten what his ankle was. “I’m so sorry, Gina,” he whimpered. He reached for his forehead and sank to his knees, “I feel awful. My head is spinning like a top.”172Please respect copyright.PENANAJ2wE1ih17v
“I know you do,” voiced Gina, and she hovered in front of his face, “That’s why we have to hurry and save Makenna. It’s so you can rest afterward. It’s been nonstop action for both you and her. You’re also dizzy because you haven’t eaten anything.”172Please respect copyright.PENANA8BdUIVCO58
She flew to Tracey’s head and again landed on it. “I’m just going to fly to Makenna,” whimpered Tracey, and very slowly, he started to lift his shattered wings.
Gina saw this and gasped.172Please respect copyright.PENANAIhxfNAqde4
“Wait, Tracey!” she yelled in his head, “Stop! You can’t fly!” Tracey didn’t listen. He flapped his wings and slowly lifted into the air, but almost immediately, he yelled and fell to the ground again.172Please respect copyright.PENANA24fDzUlxdC
Still resting on his head, Gina stomped on it and yelled, “Tracey, you’re impossible! You’re only hurting your wings more if you try to fly! Let me just carry you.”172Please respect copyright.PENANAz47jQjlwj1
“No,” groaned Tracey. He tried to stand again, “I’m fine, Gina. I’m just tired.” He got up on his knees, but immediately, he fell onto the sand again. “Of course, you’re tired!” Gina snapped at him, “You have freakin broken wings! Don’t try to walk or fly, Tracey. Just let me carry you. Please.”172Please respect copyright.PENANAXR1Qs5Selx
“Fine.” Tracey performed the Shrinking Spell on both him and Makenna’s surfboard, and Gina caught both of them on her back.172Please respect copyright.PENANAZ6OtLiYwXq
“We’re going to Makenna’s house,” she spoke, “Maybe somebody there can help us.” She and Tracey didn’t know Makenna was still in school.
Gina lifted into the air, and she soared on the air currents. Tracey was hugging her back, and Makenna’s surfboard was under his arm. The tern soared in the direction of Jenkins Point, and she squawked to other seabirds that got in her way. Gina soon stopped to hover. She slowly turned her neck and peered back to Tracey groaning on it.172Please respect copyright.PENANADPYr3WCN2C
She sighed. “Tracey,” she told him, “I’m just going to be honest. Most likely you are going to wind up in a hospital.”172Please respect copyright.PENANAHaXmOatiwy
“What?!” Tracey weakly yelped, “No, Gina, no!” He frustratingly bumped her back with his fist, “I don’t need a hospital! Don’t take me!”172Please respect copyright.PENANAczLicNkijW
“I didn’t say I was going to take you, but that probably will happen. I don’t want to scare you, Tracey, but I’ve done some research on broken fairy wings. Fairy wings as broken as yours are serious. I really don’t want to scare you, but,” Gina was stuttering, “you-you may have to get them amputated.”
“Amputated?!” Tracey screeched, “No! No! Not happening! My wings are not going to be removed from my body!” He grabbed hold of his wings and hugged them as tightly as he could, “They’re fine! They just need time to recover!”172Please respect copyright.PENANAhMSkdZtfks
“Your wings are never going to recover, Tracey.” Gina said, “Never. That’s just how it works. But wings as broken as yours can put a fairy in a lot of pain for the rest of their life unless they’re amputated. I’m not saying it’s going to happen, but it’s a possibility. I mean, the doctor’s coming in later. He’ll figure out what to do with you. For now, let’s just focus on saving Makenna.”172Please respect copyright.PENANAukRLnVcNXK
“My wings are not going to leave my body!” Tracey cried out, “They’re not! Just watch, Gina! They’re going to recover! They’re going to recover!” He closed his eyes and rested his head on Gina’s back again. She tried to lighten the mood.172Please respect copyright.PENANALnqMg5CkSQ
She announced, “And we’re off! Gina and Tracey are off on a brand-new adventure to save Miss Makenna Delling, the Metamorphic Fairy! Whoop, whoop!”
“We’re here!” Gina announced. She and Tracey had just made it to Jenkins Point, and Gina was hovering in front of Makenna’s house. She carefully slid loopy Tracey onto the cement, and she squawked at the house to let Makenna and her family members know that she and Tracey had returned.172Please respect copyright.PENANA66ix2V8r57
No one answered. “Huh, that’s funny,” said Gina, “Come on, Trace, let’s enter from the front door.” 172Please respect copyright.PENANAPyJgQyKYWS
Tracey had returned to his normal height, the same as Makenna’s surfboard, and he was sitting in the driveway playing with his fist. “I really want tacos,” he said, “I’ll share them with the birds who live next door.”172Please respect copyright.PENANA9jpQnKhMBs
“Tacos?” Gina questioned. She gasped, “Hang on a second!” She whirled around to her friend, “Are you saying you’re hungry, Tracey?!” Tracey didn’t answer. He just stared into space with his glassy eyes. Gina shook her head and admitted, “Oh, Tracey, you’re a mess,” through telepathy. She soared to him and knocked on his forehead, “Come on! Wake up, Tracey!”172Please respect copyright.PENANA5JlJRd9tzq
“What is that feeling?” Tracey asked. He flinched and peered back to his wings, grabbing hold of them.172Please respect copyright.PENANAAmNyHEwe7Q
“It’s pain.” Gina answered. She sighed and cleared her brain. Then, she urged Tracey to his feet and led him toward the front door of Makenna’s house. They left her surfboard behind.
Tracey was swaying as he walked, and Gina had to grab him to steady him. They climbed up the stairs and stopped at the front door.172Please respect copyright.PENANAjjfaOquD83
Tracey slowly lifted his hand and knocked on the front door. “Hello?” he asked in a slow, feeble voice. Suddenly, from inside, he and Gina heard the sound of barking. It was Tony, the Dellings’ dog. He had been left inside today, and he was barking crazily at the front door. Gina and Tracey heard him scratching at it. Tony’s barking made Tracey’s head spin even more, and he reached for it. Finally, he lifted his hand and rested it on the knob of the door. Tracey turned it, and the door swung open. The interior of Makenna’s house was revealed. No one was home except Tony. He was standing at the front door, and at the sight of Tracey his tail wagged. Gina stopped him from jumping into him. Tracey patted Tony on the head and rested his other hand on the wall so he could keep balance. After patting Tony, with his hand sliding on the wall, he stumbled in the direction of the kitchen. Gina and Tony followed him. Tracey was walking very slowly, and he was taking deep breaths. He looked exhausted. He was exhausted. However, he tried his best to show Gina and Tony that he was okay.
They entered the kitchen, and all three friends searched the area. The only sound they heard was dripping that came from the sink.172Please respect copyright.PENANA2lgyOaaDbS
After a bit, Gina said, “It’s too quiet. Where is everybody?”172Please respect copyright.PENANA2TQW50qfpz
“Maybe they went to Canada.” Tracey mumbled, “I heard they have amazing pumpkin pie there.” Gina ignored him. She continued to search the area. Tracey stumbled and almost fell, but Tony pushed up against his leg and caught him. Dead silence was very unusual to Gina. This was very mysterious in her perspective. However, she could figure out the mystery. She was Gina.172Please respect copyright.PENANAjvCb1m0dbW
Still hovering, she turned to Tracey and Tony and explained to Tracey, “I’m going to get you something to eat, Trace and try to figure out where everybody is. You on the other hand,” Gina gestured, with her head, in the direction of the living room couch, “I want you lie down for a few minutes.”172Please respect copyright.PENANAWq36P9FMa7
“Lie down?” Tracey sleepily asked her. His eyes were barely open, “That’s sissy talk, Gina.” He stumbled, “I don’t want to lie down. I want to fight a dragon. I also want some tacos. I want to live my life.”172Please respect copyright.PENANArzhOYtCOmI
“Just for a few minutes?” Gina asked, “Can you lie down for just a few minutes, Tracey? You look like you’re about to collapse.”172Please respect copyright.PENANAUJB3QkJ5s0
“No.” Merlin’s apprentice feebly shook his head, “I want to live my life.” Gina finally was given no other choice.172Please respect copyright.PENANAoImJBopA9B
She nodded at Tony, and both he and she pushed Tracey toward the living room. “What are you doing?” he asked them.172Please respect copyright.PENANAxcbOOFHYwF
“We want you to lie down.” Gina told him, “Please, Tracey.” She and Tony continued to push him. They got him in the living room, and they forced him to lie down. Tracey fell onto his back, and his head hit some pillows. He tried his best to ignore the pain in his wings, but it was difficult. He sighed. Tracey felt ridiculous being ordered around by a bird and dog. Gina and Tony worked together to pull a blanket over him, and after covering him, Gina landed on his tummy and peered into his face, saying, “Just hang here for a few moments, Tracey. Tony will keep you company. I on the other hand am going to figure out where everyone is.” She flapped her aching wings and hopped off his tummy. Tracey watched as she left him.
Once Gina disappeared into the kitchen, he groaned and closed his eyes.172Please respect copyright.PENANAUID1yFKnWU
With one hand, he reached for his burning forehead, and with the other, he grabbed his wings. “Wise bird.” Tracey mumbled to himself, “She thinks I can’t take care of myself.” Tony stood on the side of his bed, and he nosed his elbow. He was whimpering. He was obviously worried. Tracey felt Tony’s wet nose, and he dropped his hand from his forehead and brought it down on the dog’s head. He started to rub it, and while he did, he said, “Thank you, Tony. Maybe a little nap won’t hurt.” Tony nodded. His tail was wagging like crazy. Tracey soon removed his hand from his head, and he rested it on his tummy instead. He took a deep breath. Then, he again closed his eyes, and his head fell to the right. Instantly, Tracey fell fast asleep. Tony knew he wasn’t feeling well. Therefore, he plopped down on the ground next to him and rested his head on his front legs. Tony sighed.
