I walk down the sidewalk as I make my way to Swanford's superstore, the only one in town. I came hear to study for my doctors degree in astronomy. According to astronomers, Swanford was the center of the universe, so the stars alined perfectly year round. That meant you could see every constellation every night. It really was amazing.
I walk past the library to see a huge limo, I stop when I see the Alva twins, Dan and Mary, exit surrounded by some of their friends from school. They were about 4 years younger then me and about 100 times as popular. I was amazed with their trick of the eye, and the special effects. What really amazed me though, was that it was what the public believed. I knew what was going on, they were really demons, like me and my twin brothers, Tad and Bill. I just had to look around the entire world to find them and bring them to dad, harder then it looks. I start to walk faster and then duck into the supermarket, hoping they didn't see me. I pull out a picture of when I was 8 and Tad and Bill were 4, when we still lived in the heavens with dad. Tad had his blonde hair and Bill matched, the only difference was the eyes, Bill's yellow and Tad's blue. Bill was always stronger with his offensive magic, bending the universe to his beck and call. Tad was more defensive, with chains and forcefields. Dad never told Tad of his magic, hoping to protect him. Bill discovered his on his own, like I did. I don't really know what I do. I was kinda in-between. I could heal and I could use this invisible force to move things, not helpful looking for my brothers. Dad gave me a job and I plan to keep it.
I buy some instant noodles and some bottles of water. I carry my 2 bags out of the store only to run into the Alva twins.
"Hey! Watch It!" I spat, falling on my ass.
"Oh, I'm so sorry." Dan apologized, getting my stuff. I meet him in the eye, I've never been this close to the one person that can kill me before. I'll just act like a fan.
"Y-You're Mary and Dan Alva?!" I question.
"Yeah, you a fan?" Mary asked with a smile, handing me my bags. I was surprised by how nice they were being, considering I was so rude.
"A little," I start, staring at the ground. Dad prepared me for this.
"I just never seen 2 kids do a trick of the eye that well before." I stated, looking up at them.
"So you wanna know how we do it?" Dan said with a smirk.
"Yeah, I'm going on my doctors degree and I'm still baffled." I said, returning his smirk.
"Come to our party tomorrow, we'll show you." Mary offered me a letter, I guess it was an invitation. I turn and wave goodbye to them and pretend I need to walk the other way. Once they turn the corner, I double back and head into the Western Woods. I had my own rabbit hole there, opening the hatch and climbing down, I throw my water in the fridge and the noodles in the stone pantry, to prevent bugs. My one room house was pretty cramped, but it was cozy. It had a kitchen/dinning room/bedroom. and behind a wooden wall I had my toilet and stand up shower. Yup, your girl made her own plumbing with a water fall! I throw on my PJ's and fall asleep.
