I wake up to the best sleep I ever had, I almost didn't want to leave my bed, besides the fact I was training Tad today. I hope he was over what happened yesterday, as my shoulder sure was with my healing abilities. I got up groggily and went into the bathroom, I brush my teeth and comb my hair in front of the mirror. I put my hair in a braid. I then slugged over into my closet, throwing on some black jeans and a red flanel shirt, figuring I was gonna get dirty today. I walk out to see Fate up, making breakfast on the stove. Above him I notice the digital clock read 6:30.
"What are you doing up so early?" I ask, going over to the coffee pot. My feet shiver at the new, cold tile floor of the kitchen. I pour a mug of black coffee, adding sugar and milk. I take a long, delicious sip.
"I was about to ask you the same." he responded, setting the scrambled eggs he was cooking on a serving platter.
"Couldn't sleep." I answer, sitting down at the breakfast bar.
"I don't need sleep myself." He stated, sitting next to me.
"Oh yeah, it's been a while since I thought of that." I murmur, I really didn't know what to say.
"Aren't you a little young for coffee?" Fate asked, sliding the cup from me.
"Once you graduate from college and live by yourself for 18 years, then you can decide if I need coffee." I joke, sliding the cup back in front of me.
"Very funny, at least your humor hasn't deplenished." he said sarcastically, I laugh with him and we fall into an awkward silence. Bill and Tad come out in unison, reliving the tension of the room.
"What's up today, pops?" Bill asked, bounding to the fridge. Tad started over for the coffee pot.
"Na, a, a." Fate mocked, levitating the pot out of his reach. Tad pouted.
"Come on, Sal can have some, why can't I?" he pleaded, I giggle.
"I'm sure you two eaves dropped on our conversation, you know why." Fate responded, putting the pot on top of the fridge, Bill stifled a laugh at his brother, as I did too. Tad and Bill finished their breakfast and we went out to the edge of the forest. The sounds of the morning bustle faded as Fate led us into a clearing. All we could hear were the trees in the wind and the birds chirping before Fate spoke up.
"Bill, Tad, you will fight Sal. This will help you to control your powers, Bill your first." Fate stated, floating cross-legged in the air, his white robes almost touched the ground. Tad sat on the ground beside him. Bill and I approached the center, his and my powers have changed since my last analysis, as have the people that inhabit them. Bill made the first move, sending a blue flame ball to my head, I summoned a red shield and send the ball spiraling to Fate and Tad. Luckily, Fate summoned a white box around them, kind of like a baseball dugout.
"Good job Bill, continue." Fate smiled at Bill, I scowl as I summon a chain, whipping it at Bill. He shoved it aside with a huge yellow net. These were the only two variations of offense I had, so I started defending myself as Bill delivered the blows. I had to heal myself every once in a while while Bill threw flames at me, or anything else he could think to summon at the moment. His offensive powers have advanced greatly, I'll give him that, but he still needed to control them better. If he were to summon a tiger, it would have wigs or horns. Or he would try a lion, and it would have stripes. We switched back and forth until we both grew tired and fell to the ground. I waved my hand and replenished both of our energy, I got up and lifted Bill, who stumbled a bit at my actions.
"Aww, I hoped you would have done more then just throw chains and frisbees at me." he whined, though through his expression, I could tell he was glad to have a break.
"Splendid. It appears that Bill can conjure up any object in the Earth AND fire. Although it is a step down from your previous power, you now have forcefields! Great job son." Fate lowered his forcefield and patted Bill on the back.
"Tad, your turn my boy." Fate smiled at Tad, who was still in shock at what he just witnessed. He snapped out of it when he looked at me. He blushed madly and turned away.
"S-S-Sal, y-your shirt." he stuttered, he was red enough to make a tomato jealous. I look down at my shirt, it was torn in a plethora of places, probably from that damn tiger, my red lace bra showed through one extremely big rip.
"Here ya go, if ya really want to fix it. I'm not complaining." Bill winked at me. I will admit I was a little weirded out by my brother flirting with me, but that thought left my mind as he summoned a needle and black thread. The needle was a little big and really sharp, almost to the size of a dagger.
"Thanks, now turn around." I said, the three men turn around. I lift my shirt off my head and started stitching. Fate caught Bill trying to peek more than once, so he summoned a white curtain around me so I could continue. I could hear him talking to Tad about how the powers are not color coded when I noticed the curtain rustle. I squeak as Bill popped his head in.
"Sup Sally?" he asked, sitting down on the ground next to me.
"Fate's helping Tad summon his powers, I got bored, so here I am!" He continued with an unbearable innocence as his eyes kept wandering a bit to low.
"Bill." I say flatly, using my partially mended shirt to cover my chest.
"We are Siblings. Siblings don't need to see each other in there..." I trailed off as I look down at my feet. Bill started laughing uncontrollably, I gave him a confused look.
"I know that!" he started, wiping a tear from his eyes.
"I just don't see the harm in it! I mean, it's not like your showing anything. Plus, your reaction is just hilarious whenever I do it." he started laughing again, then stopped when he looked up to see Fate glaring at him. Fate levitated Bill by his ear, much to his protest, then dragged him out out of the curtain. Now it was Tad's and my turn to laugh. I put my now fully mended shirt back on and the curtain fades away.
"Now that Tad can summon his power with will, we can go and have lunch. I'll babysit Bill after that. Sal, take Tad into the town, even if he's a little young for my liking, you can help him hide his powers in front of others." Fate told me. On that note, Fate teleported us all back to the house, then dragged Bill, by his ear, to his room. I could hear him start yelling at him about privacy and how being siblings is no excuse to change in front of each other.
