Dani: "I can't believe we are so far back in time, Aurora."
Aurora: "Yes, it is 1414. This is even before Christopher Columbus discovered America, Dani."
Dani: "He stumbled upon a place where people had been living for tens of thousands of -"
Aurora: "- you knew what I meant."
Dani: "So, what is this guy's name again? The one we are supposed to meet here in Egypt."
Aurora: "The Manifestation. I assume it is a man. There's been about an equal number of men -"
Dani: "- right, an equal number of male and female authors. What did he write, though?"
Aurora: "In his laptop notes, Toru, the original time-traveler, has no mention of him or her."
Dani: "Before you meet this person with a strange name, can we talk for a sec?"
Aurora: "Certainly."
Dani: "Alrighty, why were you upset when I mentioned Brie's sex and violence stories?"
Aurora: "Oh, boy... At one point I had dated a man named Rob who was part of the British Navy."
Dani: "You also worked for the British Navy. I'm guessing at the same location."
Aurora: "That is correct, at a dockyard in Scotland. He was a guard. I worked as a codebreaker."
Dani: "Doesn't sound particularly deviant to me."
Aurora: "Before the War, Rob worked as a kind of spy. Watching Nazi sympathizers in Britain."
Dani: "So, Beth, I mean Brie, my captor, got her stories from Rob? Did she date him too?"
Aurora: "No, Rob worked undercover as an entertainer at private parties the sympathizers had."
Dani: "I imagine it was kind of fancy-pants house parties, or likely, large-mansion parties."
Aurora: "There is a platinum blonde woman who was also a spy. She beat Rob with a whip for..."
Dani: "For the other guests to get their rocks off? What I mean is, for their entertainment?"
Aurora: "Yes, Rob has darker skin. The blonde convinced them Rob was a Middle Eastern Jew."
Dani: "They liked thinking he was a masochist. Then Rob hung around and gathered intel?"
Aurora: "Both of them did. Rob took on this act of total humiliation for love of king and country."
Dani: "Did you take over from the blonde at some point? How is this story relevant to you?"
Aurora: "So, the other tale's about Rob's father once beating three horses to spite his neighbors."
Dani: "Explains that fairy tale. Let's stop commiserating. It's spooky Manifestation time."
