“Master,” Dante said as he entered my room, “it’s time to dress you.”
I sat up from my bed, glaring at him. “Get out.”
He just smiled, closing the door behind him. “Is something wrong?”
“I told you to—”
“I’m not,” he responded in a dark tone. “You can’t stay in here and sulk all day, master. Don’t you remember your wish? You wanted to save people.”
I swallowed something hard. “Is there another task?”
“No,” he replied.
I dropped down otno the bed and rolled over. “Then get out.”
He just sighed and stepped over to the bed, and he suddenly threw off the sheets.
I shot up, yelling out as I scrambled backward.
His smile just titled. “If you’re so keen on playing games, all you had to do was ask.”
I glared sharply. “You insolent—”
“Don’t finish that sentence,” he responded.
“Fuck you,” I snapped back.
He just leaned over me, making me shrink back as his face remained inches from mine. “You are acting like a child.”
“And you are acting like a demon.”
His lashes lowered. “I am a demon.”
“Exactly.”
“If you’re so keen on playing games, all you had to do was ask,” he repeated.
I just glared sharply.
“Tell me, master,” he said then, lashes lowering. “Is there something you want?”
I swallowed something hard.
“Do let me know,” he said then, “I don’t like to be kept waiting.”
“I want to go out by myself,” I said then. “Without you following me everywhere.”
“Is that what you want?” he said then.
“Yes.”
“Then lets make a deal,” he said to me, lashes lowering. “We are going to play a game, and if you win, you can go on an hour walk alone. And if I win, then I get a prize of some sort.”
I glared. “What kind of prize?”
“I’ll leave it to your imagination,” he said darkly.
I felt the hairs on my neck raise. “That isn’t fair. I didn’t leave my side a mystery.”
“You could’ve,” he responded with a sly smile. “But it’s already said. Deal with it.”
“Bastard,” I growled.
He just gazed up, smirking. “Fine, then. I’ll tell you my side.”
My lips thinned.
His lashes immediately lowered. “You succumb to me.”
I stood then, glaring up at him. “Excuse me?”
“I said,” his lashes lowered with his smile, “you succumb to me.”
“Define succumb.”
“You stop fighting me like an irate toddler.”
I scoffed. “Never going to happen.”
“Then you can kiss your walk goodbye,” he said smoothely.
I stopped then, clenching my fists.
He smiled down at me. “How about I sweeten the pot? You get your walk, and I’ll tell you what you’re dying to know.”
I gazed up immediately. “What?”
“You stated yourself that I am very secritive,” he responded to me, lashes lowering. “If you win, you get to ask me three questions and I have to respond honestly. As well as that, if you win, you will also get to go on your walk alone. If I win,” he said then, smile darkening, “you succumb to me for one night. And you must do anything I say.”
I gritted my teeth. “I’m you’re master. You’re supposed to do everything I say!”
His lips tilted. “Take it or leave it.”
“I demand boundries about what you will make me do,” I snapped back. “At least let me know you won’t make me do anything explicit.”
His smile darkened. “Take it or leave it, master.”
I glared at him before I relased a breath, looking away. “Deal.”
He held out his hand then, making my eyes snap to his.
His eyes glowed a slight red. “Is it a deal?”
“I’m not shaking on it, you demon,” I told him. “I’m not selling my soul to you.”
“Then you cannot hold to your deal,” he said then, lashes lowering. “Take it or leave it, master.”
I stared down at his hand then, breaths straining.
I hesitated, something cold swelling inside me.
But I really wanted to know what he was hiding... and I could already think of the questions I’d ask him.
Before I could stop myself, I caught onto his hand.
His smile darkened with mischief, and I watched his shadow grow on the wall.
He bowed then, making me gaze down in surprise when he got onto his knee in front of me.
My lashes lowered.
“Thank you, master,” he said then, gazing up at me. “This will be fun, indeed.”
