Honestly, I'm probably going to not get a lot of agreement on my stance here. People love Christmas. As a Christian, I guess I should love Christmas more. However, I don't. Frankly, the family aspect of Thanksgiving appeals to me more. Having breakfast on a slow lazy day and then the community getting together to put on dinner. It's very nice to me.
There's not any pressure to guess with gifts the company of others is a gift in itself. The feeling of greed just isn't there for Thanksgiving for me. I don't like the idea of one-upping someone else in giving. Don't get me wrong I love gift-giving. The challenge of finding something that someone will love is my favorite. pass time. For me, Christmas has become something I don't quite enjoy. I would enjoy it more with limits. I don't have a lot of things I want so maybe a rule that we only get one or two gifts for each person? I'm not sure, but the business of the season is not my cup of tea.
I enjoy the spiritual aspect of the holiday. The idea of everyone resting together while someone reads the Christmas story is a comforting thought to me. Everyone in the family in jammies and mugs of cocoa with someone reading about the birth of my savior sounds like something I would enjoy. However, we make plans every year to visit everyone and we travel a lot. Some might enjoy it but I don't like traveling. I really like being with people though. Extrovert here, I must confess. It seems a trend nowadays to be an introvert even if you're not. That's neither here nor there but I'm sure there's a hidden extrovert secretly suffering while trying to be cool. Now that I'm here for you. I understand my friend.
Usually, I make something for people not in my immediate family. Lot's of years I do treat trays. Last year I made hot chocolate bombs and this year I made cute jars of dry latte mixes for people. I try to get specific gifts for my immediate family. To be true it's exhausting to get things not knowing if people are going to like them.
Either way, I still like Christmas just not as much as Thanksgiving. I will still enjoy the season and being with people. Gifts received are always appreciated, unless they are gag gifts. That's just rude. So Merry Christmas and expect updates on the stories after the Holidays! Enjoy the time with your family.
