“Hi. I’m Felix, thanks for the save by the way. What’s your name?”
“Wow. So polite, here I thought only the attitude people knew was sour. Nice to meet you Felix, my name is Spiffy and you’re very welcome.”
“Spiffy? Wow, that's a cute name.” Not what I expected the boy to say at all but I don’t have much of an issue with a compliment.
“Thank you Felix.” Our conversation wasn’t much to write about, he merely asked me about my home, my life, and what made me come here. I obviously couldn’t answer everything but I did answer as many as I could. In this situation I’ve learned secrets are best kept to yourself.
“Welcome back fine contestants, not only have you all managed to make it back you’ve managed a pretty decisive victory.” A Butler bowed toward us as we came upon the manner, a howl came from the distance and I hurried inside with everyone else and the door was shut behind us. The butler quickly vanished the second we turned our backs to him, leaving us alone again.
“Do you two have rooms?” The Nurse lady asked me and my partner.
“Ya don’t know do ya? Each game the place refreshes and basically puts everyone’s rooms in based on the team. So some new rooms are here, we just gotta find it.” I explained to her, then I locked eyes with X. Hadn’t seen the guy in person before but if you’ve played this game before you’ve heard of him. He’s the guy everyone’s been saying will bring this entire thing down and expose whoever created this to the light. I don’t really believe that, especially if we all put ourselves in this game of our own free will.
“Please come enjoy your after game feast contestants, hot and ready.” We heard The Butler call from beside the stairs, and it seemed the food was ready. As it always is.
“Come on Will.” My big lug of a partner followed beside me as we both walked over to the dining room. Felix and his group wanted to follow but they decided they needed to tend to the injured. However Nana knew this was her forte and sent those unaffected to come eat and went to take care of the ones who were hurt. Despite her protests she couldn't get past the Butler, she sat down very restless but she sat nonetheless. One of the many things that made victory so good was what we got in return, made ya wanna win more.
“The Manor looks..so much more vibrant or am I going crazy?”
“Luxury is gifted to those considered as winners, I’ll assume your group either hasn’t had many games or haven’t won many.” X answered Felix and his friends were now all ears to the situation.
“I’d say we haven’t won… we’d merely focused on escaping and less on doing whatever those objectives were.”
“Oh so your team is the reason why this game has been gettin easier. You lot have been getting smacked around so much the opposing side has gotten complacent! “We just lost one of our own in a prior game… Daniel.”
“Awww damn… That’s where my old buddy went huh? Crap. Sorry.” Yeah we knew Daniel, heck I doubt there were many new folks who didn’t know old Daniel. Far as we were concerned he was one of the Golden Players of the game, he knew how to scout out objectives, pick up patterns, and strategize to make the most of games. But most of all, he was a team player and never left others behind. “Any idea what happened to him?”
“The Edge..executed him from what we saw. As saddening as it was to hear… it appears Felix couldn’t do much to stop it and now we live with his passing.” Nana explained with a deep sigh coming after.
“I-I shouldn’t have ran. I could’ve tried…”
“No Felix. Ya couldn’t, not with The Edge, not Jack. I’m sure Daniel knew that and that’s why he made you move ahead of him, Jack ain’t one to mess with. I’d know, well we’d both know.” I nudged my buddy William and he nodded.
“Yeah we but your friend hasn’t said a thing.”
“I-Mph! Ahem. Sorry. I don’t think it’s proper to talk while eating and I’m very very hungry. William Michaels is my name, I’m here in this game because I want to help my family out of poverty. Despite my mother doing the best she can she’s unable to provide enough for us all, my three siblings and myself. I’m doing my best to win, get my wish for wealth, and with that I can not only help my family but many others like me. It's a risk but I need to take it.” Everyone looked at William and all seemed touched by his reason for being here.
“Bet y’all can see why I roll with him now. Pretty righteous fellow and honestly he hasn’t betrayed me yet, what about you lot?” I asked, waiting to see if anyone else cared to spill some life ambitions but I didn’t really get that. Instead I got everyone’s gaze behind me, so I jumped up with my gun aimed behind me and I saw what everyone was looking at. Glowing claw marks in the wall, odd. I don’t remember seeing them when I came in.
“Hmmmm…” X stood up and walked over to the marks and looked at them before they vanished, suddenly more and more marks appeared all over the room but they looked to be like phantoms. None of them were real, what does this mean?
