I didn’t understand why I had so many papers when I hadn’t been gone as long as a week. Sitting at my desk it didn’t even look as if I had made a dent in the pile yet. I had organized them from important to least important. There happened to be a lot more unimportant, which made me upset about the incompetence of the brightest people we had in the country. I was going to have a serious and time consuming discussion with them for bothering me with petty issues. I would have to take a breather before then, though, I was liable to fire more people if I didn’t. The idea was tempting, I admitted. 243Please respect copyright.PENANApFMyquQk0U
For now, I would just go get my lunch and bring it back to my desk. I took the letter from a neighboring country I had been reading with me. Their king wanted to visit to sort out the issues we’d been having for a couple of years now. I wasn’t opposed to it, I just didn’t think we really need their alliance strategically. I had already set up an alliance with the strongest countries that made the most sense. His country wasn’t exactly on my list and at the time he didn’t seem the most willing. Most countries were a lot bigger than mine, but we were a lot more skilled, advanced, and intelligent. Strategically there was nothing they could do for us, besides be a back plan if I need. Hm, that wasn’t a bad idea now that I thought about it. The more allies the better is what I was told.
Apparently, the issue started when King Kyzer felt like my father betrayed his trust by stealing from them, at least in his mind that’s what happened. My father didn’t have the same story. He told him there was no need for us to steal from a country with lesser resources than we had if we did want to steal. That was seen as an insult to Kyzer, but my father had only spoken the truth. I was never sure what exactly happened between them after that, but they forfeited the alliance over it, so nothing good could be assumed. From the letter it seemed he wanted to repair this predicament. I would have to write back to him later on my decision. 243Please respect copyright.PENANAgA57jgpv5Q

“Hi. Um, Luke told me not to bother you,” I glanced up to see Samuel standing in front of me. He had changed into new clothes instead of the ones covered in filth from yesterday.243Please respect copyright.PENANAxPdT7CDyLx
“I see you’re finally awake.” I had asked Luke to tell me when he woke up, but it would seem he was still disobeying me. 243Please respect copyright.PENANAho5Ezd5EFz

“Yes, not to long ago.” He was rubbing the back of his neck. Was he nervous? I didn’t know what for. I searched the hallway and saw a few servants going back and forth. Did he not want to talk in front of them?243Please respect copyright.PENANAjxlY4TFp5J
“Have you eaten? I was going to the kitchen. You can come along if you want.” Then maybe we could have a chat without listening ears around. 243Please respect copyright.PENANAljbcfmoBfR

“Aren’t you busy,” he asked pointing to the letter? 243Please respect copyright.PENANAS6mE9x1iz0
“I’ve finished reading it already.” I didn’t mind the company. He followed rather closely behind me, observing hallways as he did so. I didn’t blame him, though, they were golden and were shined repeatedly so much that they sparkled. I used to enjoy staring at them, that is until I saw them every day and stopped noticing. I knew I took it for granted how lucky I am to have the honor to walk these halls every day. “Pretty, isn’t it?” 243Please respect copyright.PENANAcfjuTrNcFv

“It is,” he said breathlessly spinning each and every direction to take in the full view.
