It was odd how different that conversation seemed now. I was no longer reeling from my numerous fights with Mathew. I was no longer sobbing over the loss of my few friends. Finally, I could see how hurt Adrian had been when I told him I'll probably never get over Mathew. There had even been a glint of tears in his eyes when he told me it wasn't foolish not to get over someone.
What an idiot I had been not to see it then. And poor Adrian thought he hurt me...I probably hurt him a thousand times without meaning to.
"Maya..." Mathew's voice woke me from my thoughts. He had walked up to them and was facing Maya. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have shouted at you."
"That's all you do, isn't it Mathew? You hurt people left and right and think a sorry would fix everything." Adrian stepped in front of Mathew. Never have I seen such a fire in his eyes.
"What else am I supposed..."
"You can think twice before you open your damn mouth." Adrian stepped towards him menacingly. "Do you know how devastated Lee was after you...Do you even know how much your fan girls taunted her for daring to have a crush on their hero?"
"She made a spectacle out of herself. Can you blame me for losing my temper?"
"Couldn't you have spoken to her in private?"
"I..."
"You crushed her. I can't even imagine why she would have feelings for you after that...I just..."
"Adrian..."
"I just hate you." He spat. "You broke her heart into tiny little bits and stomped over it. Yet she cared for you..."
Adrian broke down into sobs. "Lee...Why?"
Suddenly I remembered something. Adrian wasn't there at my funeral.
To be continued...
