The guardians opened all the cell doors and shouted, "Lunch!".
"Get up, Caden, or they'll pull us out," Tom woke him.
They both entered the dining room, took their food and sat in their previous places.
"Tom? What is your magical ability?" Caden asked.
"Telepathy. I read people's minds," Tom replied.
Caden swallowed loudly. "So..." Caden said.
"But I can't get into your head for some reason. I was concerned, so I started to talk with you," Tom explained.
"Oh, that's interesting," Caden breathed out.
"Yeah, it is, it will probably be caused by something they add to our food. Wardens do believe that I could be able to influence others' thoughts. Strangely, the only ones who believe in improving my abilities have locked me up here," Tom smiled.
The guardian approached the table. "Caden, come with us."
"Stay strong, buddy," Tom whispered.
Caden was led into the room and strapped to the standing table.
Several guardians stood before Caden and Kate was amongst them.
"So, Caden, you say you have no magical abilities," a hunter walked past him.
"You're not a guardian. Why is the hunter here?" Caden asked.
"You know, Caden, you're special. We can't use classical... procedures for you," Kate said.
The hunter pulled some tools on a small table.
"Now what?" Caden said nervously.
"Now, Caden... it will hurt," the hunter smiled, then took a box with two clamps at the ends and clipped them to Caden.
"What is it?" Caden didn't understand.
"This is the latest invention of the Stormers. They call it the energy of lightning," the hunter said and pressed the button on the box.
There was unbearable pain in Caden, flowing through his entire body. Caden started shaking. After a while, the pain stopped.
"Well, well! It looks like it really works. So, Caden, didn't you want to tell us about your ability?" the hunter smiled.
"I have no ability... I don't," Caden spoke out.
"So we have a tough guy!" the hunter pressed the button on the box again.
Caden closed his eyes and tried not to notice the pain.
"Caden, tell us about your abilities!" Kate shouted.
Caden opened his eyes and the darkness appeared in them.
"So you want to know my ability?!" Caden shouted.
"What the? Increase power!" one of the guards shouted.
Caden's hand and foot cuffs opened and the box the hunter had exploded in his hands.
"Kill him!" one of the guards called and rushed against Caden.
"No! You stupid, narcotize him!" Kate shouted.
Caden threw the guardians away with an invisible force, lifted one with it, and began to choke him. All the small things in the room were levitating in the air.
"Caden! Look at me!" Kate shouted.
Caden looked at her.
"You don't want to do this. You were a guard, you're not a monster!" Kate screamed.
Things fell to the ground, and Caden's eyes returned to their original, sky-blue colour. In the same time, one of the guardians at the door shot him with a crossbow, and Caden fell unconscious.
Caden woke up on the bottom of his bunk bed.
"Caden? Are you okay?" Tom poked at him.
"What... What happened?" Caden sat down.
"Hunters have brought you here. Wow, what did you do?"
"I do not know."
"It's nothing, Caden, let's go to dinner," Tom helped Caden get up, and they went for food again.
"Wasn't that guardian there with you?" Tom asked.
Caden continued to eat and said, "I don't know. Why?"
"He thinks about you all the time. Caden, Caden, where is Caden?" Tom wondered.
"What?" Caden suddenly awoke.
"There, the one with the black scarf on his mouth. The one who stands next to him is strange too," Tom said.
"When I tell you, you'll lie under the table," Caden said.
"What? Why?" Tom didn't understand.
"You will understand..." Caden smiled at the guardian, who then drew two small crossbows from under the cloak.
"Now!" Caden called, and they both hid under the table.
"Alarm! Mages are..." one of the guardians shouted on the small balcony above the dining room when he suddenly fell silent.
The guardian approached Caden, it was Merill. "Would you ally with the devil if I was in a similar situation, to save me?" Merill asked.
"Well... probably yes," Caden replied uncomprehendingly.
"Then you won't blame me!" Merill smiled and gave him his hand.
A squad of guardians ran into the dining room from the hall, and soon they were burned by flames fired from hands of the guardian standing near the door.
"Mages?" Caden was horrified.
"Do you think I could free you myself?" Merill pointed out and led Caden through the dining room, where there was a fight between the guardians and someone hidden in the guardian's clothes. Tom followed them.
"Who is it?!" Merill screamed at Tom.
"It's okay, he's a friend," Caden assured him.
They walked down the corridor where the guardians fought with mysterious warriors. Merill led Caden by his hand and did not stop for a moment. Until they finally went through the remnants of the massive steel gate, it looked like someone has torn the gate open.
Before them stood Caden's brother Stephan, a man in a purple hood and a dark elven woman who Caden fought within the forest.
"What does this mean, Merill?" Caden asked.
"Ahh... Hi, Caden. I told you Merill won't escape his fate," the elven woman smiled.516Please respect copyright.PENANAGsKoiWIVVT
