Caden picked up a new sword in the guardhouse, mounted his horse, and rode out of the city. In a surge of emotion, he didn't think about what might happen to him. He was thinking only of the girl who'd let poison Merill.
At the farm, Caden jumped off his horse and ran into the forest. He ran to the clearing and she, the cunning dark elf, stood in front of him.
"Ahh... you came back. You came to me to tell me how did you get into town?" she laughed.
"I came for an antidote," Caden replied.
"Stupid, don't be afraid. Merill will not escape his fate so easily. But you shortened your life a lot," she smiled at him, and her soldiers began to run out of the forest and attacked Caden.
Caden was just barely defending himself against the preponderance of the dark elves, the dark elven woman was just watching. When it seemed that Caden could defend himself, the dark elven woman pulled out a bow and fired.
Caden looked in her direction, and they all stiffened. The arrow stopped in front of Caden and levitated in the air. After a moment the arrow flew to the side and hit one of the dark elves. Before the elves recovered, Caden killed several of them. Then he fought with one of the elves, and another ran out from behind him, Caden turned and some invisible force threw the elf away, the same fate awaited other ones. The other elves were running away, only the women remained.
"What was that?!" she shouted and walked back slowly.
"Give me the antidote," Caden said.
"But I..." the elf said, and an invisible force picked her up into the air, she put her hands on her neck as if they were strangling her. Caden's eyes darkened, nothing but endless darkness was left in them.
"W-what are you..." the elf was trying to speak.
"Fucking angry partner. I'll tell you the last time. Give me the antidote!" Caden shouted across the forest.
"O... O... Okey," the elf stammered and the invisible force released her, she dropped on all the four. She began to wheeze, cough, and take a deep breath. After a while, she stood up and threw the vial to Caden. When Caden caught the vial and looked back, the elf was no longer there.
Caden walked deeper into the woods and found an open doorway, walked in, and took Merill's sword back from one room. The way back was calm, the forest was abandoned. Caden drove his horse back to town and headed for the hospital.
Near the bed of Merill stood a fat little man, it was Gorej. Caden drew his sword and ran into the room. "You bastard, what are you doing?!" Caden ran in front of Gorej and put his sword to his neck.
"Calm down, officer. I just came to look at him!" Gorej called.
"Do you think I'm an idiot?" Caden replied, pushing him off the way and run to the bed.
Merill seemed to be in a coma, but fortunately, he was breathing. Caden did not hesitate and poured the vial into his mouth. "Come on, Merill, please," Caden demanded. "If you did something to him, you'll beg for death!" Caden shouted to Gorej.
"If I wanted him to die, I wouldn't inform the wardens where you were going," Gorej replied.
"What? Why would you do that?" Caden didn't understand.
"Let's say I was afraid that he would become a ghost, and haunt me for the rest of my life," Gorej smiled.
"It doesn't work... Damn bitch!" Caden shouted, and one of the doctors entered the room.
“What's going on here? Please stop shouting, officer. Or I'll have to take you away," the doctor said.
"I'm sorry... I'm leaving already," Caden lowered his head, placed Merill's sword under his bed, and left with Gorej.
It was raining outside.
"I should go, your friends don't like to see me," Gorej turned to Caden.
"Thank you," Caden said.
Gorej nodded and disappeared into the shadows.
"Caden!" Amelia screamed.
“Amelia! What are..." Caden couldn't speak, Amelia slapped him, and then hugged him.
"You fool! You don't even know how I feared for you. You can't do this to me! You're the only one left in the world for me," Amelia cried.
"I... I'm sorry, Amie," Caden murmured while embracing her.
"Come on or we'll get cold," Amelia led Caden to the pub.
"Caden! Amelia! My poor things, you're all wet," El run to them.
"I'm going to change the clothes in my room," Amelia said and ran up the stairs.
"And where's Merill? I haven't seen him for a long time," El said with a smile that went over her.
"Merill is... dead," Caden replied.
"What? But... that is not possible. You were partners. You should have protected him!" El shouted.
"One arrow. One fucking arrow that I would like to take instead of him!" Caden screamed.
"How could have one arrow killed him?!"
"It was... It was poisoned. I... forgive me," Caden hung his head down.
"Get out of here," El said with a sad voice.
"Cade..." Amelia ran down the stairs when Caden walked away from crying El.
Caden went out into the rain. Memories were projecting through his head. He wanted to scream and cry. But he had no time for anything of this, he should have reported to the guardhouse long ago and set off there.
