In the meantime, Mormir managed to throw Merill on the ground. Mormir looked at him, turned, raised his hands, and started whispering something towards the artefact.
Merill stood up exhausted. "Hey! Don't turn your back on me, it's pretty rude!"
Mormir waved a hand and threw Merill on the ground again. This time he ran up to him and put his sword on his neck. "I told you to get out of here!" But he suddenly grabbed his head in pain. Merill quickly stood up.
"I'm sorry, but you're not giving me a choice," Merill said.
"But I'm giving you the last chance. Get out of here, Merill. I must not fail, and you know that you cannot defeat me, so go away!" Mormir shouted.
"I will not let you destroy the Wall, I will die in its defence," Merill replied.
"As you wish," Mormir raised his left hand, and with his power, he lifted Merill into the air and began to strangle him, while manipulating the artefact with his right hand.
"Stephan? Where in the Saint's names did he disappear?" the Dark Ones were falling one by one under the precise strikes of Caden's sword. Caden used his power to find weaknesses on their armour and to throw away those he couldn't kill. An armoured giant emerged from the ranks of the Dark Ones, he pulled a large iron hammer behind them. His roar disturbed Caden. The giant took the hammer into both hands and ran against Caden. Caden rushed against him, jumped with the help of his power from the right side of the giant, fell on his neck and stabbed him. The giant fell on the ground.
A group of the Dark mages came forward before the Dark One's army. They all started to whisper.
"You bastard!" Stephan caught a strange creature by its neck.
"If you kill me, Mormir will die!" the creature screamed.
"We have no choice," Cassandra said.
"What!?" both Stephan and the creature were horrified.
"Mormir wants to use his power, and the power of the artefact to summon Mor'lak. If he gets the power from the artefact... He will be unstoppable," Cassandra explained.
"We can get back. When he sees you, he'll be normal again," Stephan said.
"We can't make it. Moreover, Mor'lak controls him, and Mormir himself has very little control over his own body," Cassandra replied.
"I... maybe you're right. Will you do it?" Stephan asked.
"It happened because of me, I have to do it, and take responsibility for it," Cassandra said.
"Mormir will understand, take my sword, we'll do it both," Stephan replied.
Cassandra took Stephan's sword with both hands and raised it above the creature.
"Echh... Ehh... Mormir..." Merill stammered. "Don't turn.... your back..." he continued.
"You're really crazy. I would kill you, but you will be the first victim of the Dark Lord in this world. Congratulations," Mormir smiled.
"You better kill me yourself..." Merill replied.
"If you wish so," Mormir turned to him.
Merill felt relaxed a bit, and then he was released from Mormir's power.
Mormir pressed his left hand to his chest and released the artefact from his power. The artefact split into pieces that hit both Mormir and Merill. Before Merill fell on the ground, he saw a strange standard in the distance.
"Caden! The reinforcements are here, come back!" Elard ran to him.
They both retreated from the battle and climbed the rope back on the Wall.
"Uh... maybe you should take us away, Stephan," Cassandra looked at the approaching darkness all around them.
"You're right, I'll try," Stephan whispered, and they both disappeared.
"Who is that...?" Caden asked under the Wall, in front of a legion of soldiers with large oval shields, swords, and gilded armour.
"These are the warriors of the Saints, the elite units of the Church. It is strange to stand on your side here, mage," a person came to him.
"Um... Hi, Jedar," Caden replied.
"You know him?" Elard asked.
"Of course. Perhaps we can temporarily postpone our dispute. At least before this is resolved," Jedar proclaimed.
"Sure," Caden replied.
General Jedar nodded, then a piece of the Wall flew away, leaving a massive opening behind.
The warriors took a defensive formation. Their swords suddenly turned into double blades. Warriors mowed the Dark Ones like grass.
"Uff... It worked! We're alive!" Stephan rejoiced.
"Was there really a possibility that it wouldn't work?!" Cassandra asked.
"Uh... no. Where are we?" Stephan asked to change the topic.
"On the tower... but where's the ar... Merill!" Cassandra ran to Merill, who was lying on the edge of the tower.
"I didn't expect the church to have any military force. Now it looks like they won't let us fight," General Jedar laughed.
A deep dark voice was heard again. "Oh, you beat me. What a pity that my plan of invasion didn't work out."
A wizard appeared on the southern part of the Wall.
"I don't like this at all..." Caden said.
"Hahaha, did you really think that the whole invasion would depend on one mage? Who, moreover, didn't obey me completely?! But I did not expect such a warm welcome, the best of the Empire's warriors. Perhaps they will be enough."
"By all the Saints... The wizard... the wizard has..." Caden looked at the wizard on the Wall.
"Artifact..." general Jedar replied.
Dark beams were coming to the Church's warriors, from the ball-shaped artefact which the wizard on the Wall held. They all fell on their knees and screamed in pain.
"What is he doing?!" Caden called.
"He's taking their souls..." Elard replied.
"I hope you have something in reserve, general," Caden said.
"Depends on what we'll fight against..." general Jedar replied and the Imperial army was arriving with the wardens.
"He's alive. Oh, I'm so glad that... er, he's not dead," Cassandra looked at Stephan's confused expression.
"What have they done to you? Are you really Cassandra?" Stephan asked.
"If you don't shut up, I'll throw you off this tower," Cassandra replied.
"And she's back!" Stephan laughed.
"What is it?" Cassandra turned south.
"Hahahahaa... yes! More souls! I will finally enter this world..." the terrifying voice was heard.
The wizard on the Wall began to transform. Soon, a huge demon stood on the Wall.
"Fall on your knees. Maybe I'll just make you my slaves," the demon spoke, and at that moment, Cassandra jumped over the rift in the Wall and stabbed the creature with her sword.
"Damn elf!" the demon tried to shake off Cassandra, who hung up on his back. The demon continued to grow as Stephan reached the end of the north Wall.
"Stephan! Stop them somehow!" Caden shouted.
Stephan used his magic and covered the rift in the Wall with a thick layer of ice, then he fell on the ground with exhaustion.
"Cassandra! Help Stephan!" Caden continued to shout.
"I have some work down here!" Cassandra called from the back of the demon.
Caden ran to the staircase to the Wall. During this time, however, several of the Dark Ones climbed up the Wall, in the place where Stephan laid helpless. But the sword of the Dark One was stopped by something. It was Merill's sword.
"Huh, it took you!" Stephan breathed out.
"Thanks would be enough," Merill replied and fought the Dark Ones.
Caden finally ran to the Wall and threw the rest of the Dark Ones down, out of the Wall with his power.
"Are you both okay?" Caden asked.
"I will not be in a while!" Cassandra screamed, when she was running toward the ice wall, the demon was running after her.
Stephan created a more stable ice bridge for her. But when Cassandra was halfway through, the demon struck the bridge with all its might and it broke.
Cassandra stabbed her swords into the ice wall and caught herself.
The Dark mages, on the other side, began to send fire together to the centre of the ice wall.
"So the Dark mages can do this too?" Stephan was scared.
"Hahaha, your poor magic won't save you. You're all going to die here!" the demon laughed.517Please respect copyright.PENANAlj4AXQfl8F
