After a few minutes, I realized how tired I was. It was probably from the time machine experience. I sat by the corner of the cell, exhausted. Even if I wanted to sleep, I probably don't have time. My execution was scheduled for within this 24 hours. 24 hours!!! I suddenly jumped up from my spot and bumped my head onto the rocky rough wall. Ouch! I slowly sat back down. Ugh, this all felt so hopeless. Yes, I did have hopes earlier that I will get out and bust that police's identity. But how exactly am I going to escape from here? And further more, I don't have the energy to active the time machine once more. I sighed. I heard clinking of keys near me. I snapped my head up from my legs. In front of me, right in front of the jail, is a guard that wasn't there a second ago. The guard glanced at me. This man had yellow skin, dark brown eyes and shoulder length, crazy brown hair which was a little unhealthy.900Please respect copyright.PENANAK9m4q9OnwA
He had a triangular face and distrustful eyes. He had well-defined muscles. I developed an immediate dislike of him. I tried to see if the neighboring country's police had a low IQ and would let me out easily.
"Hi!" I tried flashing him a charming smile. The guard turned his body towards me and nodded without any emotion. Whoa he actually responded! I was encouraged by his reaction and tried to keep up the conversation. "How was your day?" I asked in a friendly tone.
"Uh. Fine." He simply answered, but still, he's facial expression is neutral, almost non-existent.
"I hope you are not having a bad day." I kept trying.
"Hmhmm.." the guard's eyes stared towards the floor, and his face is still unnervingly stone-like. I found this situation extremely creepy. Usually people would have some sort of emotion on their faces, even the mean police officer had an angry look on his face. But this guard...his face shows nothing. He should have been an actor, such a waste. I slowly shook my head.
"Hey." he said.
I gasped, surprised that the guard actually voluntarily talked to me. I quickly responded,"Yes? Oh, I mean, hi, again."
The guard hesitated for a second before speaking to me," You were muttering something about a time machine just a minute ago. You... did know what you were talking about, right? The long lost treasure of the king of Detseland?"
"Er...no?" I stared at the guared, astonished. There was just a hint of disappointment on his face. "I thought I was just thinki...."
"Oh okay. Well I guess I was hallucinating." the guard interrupted me mid-sentence.
How rude of him! I gave up the idea of trying to talk nicely to him. I glared at him and stomped back to my corner to calm down before I attempt to kill him. I hate people being rude to me, especially strangers whom I need to bear with for the possibly last 24 hours of my life.
As I sat, I slowly thought about the value of the machine to other people in Detseland, and then thought about the value of my own life. I have to admit, my comparison was pretty selfish. I would rather trade a treasure for my own life. And thus, a brilliant (with tongue roll) plan was born....
A/N: Out of selfishness borns the brilliant plan!! This is my quote of the day, or the month. I know it sounds pretty weird but who said that inspirations cannot be unique?
