That night Magpie couldn't get much sleep as hoped and it wasn't because of her wounds. She was concerned with what she witnessed and felt a bit ashamed to have refused to learn spells to protect the others. I would have had a better chance against Cordis, and one thing is sure. He is weaker without his scythe, but still, he is strong and no fool to meddle with. She sighed while throwing a glance over her shoulder to the others, they were all asleep, and Senshi tossed and turned. As Magpie's eyes fell on Nu, she recalled the masked man. There was darkness too in him but different than that of Cordis, a different sort of pain.544Please respect copyright.PENANAkKVomq3Ljw
Suddenly Magpie's mind went off like firecrackers with questions and new hope. What happened to Cordis and the masked man that turned them out so? What did Jayden do? What did Nu do? As the ancient dragon, Orion once said, "it's good to know your friends and the same counts for your enemies." - "Know thy enemy." She whispered to herself as she realised. Her train of thought was cut by the sound of running feet and saw briefly at the doorway Senshi running off. Magpie had no chance to follow due to her wounds. She wanted to wake up the others, but they slept deeply, recovering from their previous ordeal. Magpie reconsidered letting them know as soon they wake up.
"Giving them the slip, ey?" Whispered Shadow's voice nearby. Magpie looked around in high alert. "I'm in a place where you can't see but can still feel and sense me." She kept looking around as her ears began to throb in fear. "In your mind." Whispered Shadow at her left ear. Magpie winced and turned to see. Shadow laughed. "No worries, I'm not here to kill or harm you. What fun is there when you're drained and wounded? I thought I'd keep you company and to remind you the time is ticking."
"What time? In the land of the dead, there is no time to follow or chase." Snapped Magpie angered.
"Quite right, but... You're not dead so, you need to chase it." He sniggered and walked over to the others asleep.
"Don't you dare lay a finger on them!" Hissed Magpie while trying to get to her feet.
"Oh, very protective." He held up his hands as a gesture to ensure no touching and stepping back "Remember, I'm in your mind."
"Then get out!" Demanded Magpie. Suddenly Shadow stood in front of her crouched to even eye level. Their gaze locked. "Easily said than done, when you're in love with him." Before Magpie could utter a word, she felt his warm lips upon hers and the tip of his tongue. Quick-witted Magpie pushed him away and wiped with the back of her hand over her mouth to rid the feeling.
"Magpie, everything okay?" Asked Nu and walked right through Shadow. He dissolved with a devilish smile. Magpie blinked to be sure she saw it alright. "Er, aye. Just a bit dizzy from the loss of blood, I guess."
Nu grinned. "I'll get right on that since you waited so long." She knelt and inspected Magpie's wounds before healing them. As soon she was done healing, Magpie informed her of Senshi's absence. But before the others knew of it, Senshi returned and remained quiet for a long time.
Magpie noticed as Nu walked up to Senshi. "Wanting to eavesdrop them ey? Not very friendly and ladylike of you." Spoke Shadow, he suddenly appeared from one the of the shadows between the pews.
"Magpie?" Wondered Vandal. She blinked and turned to him. "Are you sure you're alright?"
She nodded and cleared her throat. "I think I'll have a lie down for a short moment; the loss of blood does take a while to recover." She walked to the farthest pew and took a few deep breaths to calm herself down as she lay down. "It's all in the mind dear Magpie. I'm not here yet you yearn for me, like the kiss."
"Shuv off." Snapped Magpie under her breath and tossed over to the other side. Trying to ignore his words and his voice but it sounds exactly the same as Ignatius, yet the words aren't his. There was a longing to hear his soft voice, see his smile, the twinkle of life from his dark brown eyes and to hold his warm hands. "Ignatius." She whispered to herself and while digging her face and tears into her elbow. After having taken a deep breath Magpie mustered her strength and returned to her previous thought about the other's enemies and suggesting in helping each other. "I don't think that will work, my dear. Look where it brought you after facing Cordis." Whispered Shadow nearby.
Magpie sat up looked around and spotted Shadow sitting at a pew in front of her but she pretended not to see or hear him. She stood up and walked over to the Vandal, Nu, Jayden and Senshi. They were having a small meal. "Everyone, I have a few things say and to ask. As you all arrived here, you all brought with you an enemy, without any intention. Surely we all have to face them, your's Jayden goes by the name Cordis as for you Vandal, it's Ladnavia, Nu your's the masked man. Mine is Shadow, a dark side of my friend Ignatius, but what about your's Senshi? Why I ask and mention is because we don't need to face them alone. We can help each other, facing, fighting them off. Setting up a trap, a distraction, a skilful tactic and together as a group, there are more possibilities to achieve than doing it alone." There was silence. "In a nutshell, we stick together when facing your enemy." Magpie pulled out from her leather pouch the magical green plant. "Aside from my skills in stealth, archery and sword combats, I have this as an advantage and recently started to use more spells but needs more practice." Magpie remained convinced and honest, knowing when to assemble, there is no room for doubt and secrets.
Shadow sniggered in the background. "Convinced like an innocent child when you bearly know what you're doing, dear Magpie. Is that a useful tactic to go against me who only rests in your head?"
Magpie ignored him and waited patiently for their reaction.
Sorry, it took so long, I'm in the middle of a huge move from country to another and, there's so much to look out for.
