Peter Young sat with his wife and daughter in his father's church. "So he gave you and ultimatum?"
Eve nodded, "What am I supposed to do? I know it's wrong to deny God and Jesus but honestly a bad grade could ruin me." Her voice was a whisper.
Peters wife, Sarah, studied their daughter, "Eve honey, I can't make this decision for you, and this has to be your opinion and your choice."
Eve looked so troubled, he would do anything to help her, but in this situation this was Eve's choice and if she chose to sign the paper then they would figure it out.
Sara took Eve's hand, "Eve what ever you decide to do, I want you to know that me or your father will be disappointed in you. We love you, you just have to trust God and depend on your faith. After all, it all waters down to one saying."
Eve smiled, Sarah continued, "Jesus Christ said it best with the faith of a mustard seed, but since none of us have a mustard seed available, how about is just call it to God."
"What am I supposed to do?" Asked Eve.
Sarah smiled, "It's a matter of faith child, remember that."
Eve sniffled, "I love you guys!"
Peter hugged her, "I love you too baby. It's getting late, you should be getting to your dorm."
"Be sure to tell Rachel that we miss her." Sarah said sounded in a whine as if the thought of her daughters being away at a place twenty minutes away killed her.
"I will mom, and I'll tell her that you whined."
As soon as Eve pulled into the college and quietly crept to her side of bed trying not to wake Rachel. She sat on the bed cross legged and opened her computer, and typed the only thing she would be focusing on for a while:
Proof that God exists.
A website called "Grad Resources" popped up first and Eve clicked on it. The title was "You Cannot Prove God's Existence" Great, this should help me for sure. She continued reading until she found a sentence that was helpful: "Sure, I cannot provide an argument which will convince all thinking people but this does not mean I don’t have good reason to believe in God. It may turn out that some of my reasons for believing in God may be persuasive to you. Even if you aren’t persuaded to believe that God exists, my arguments may not be useless."
"Eve? What are you doing?" Eve look up to see Rachel laying on her side and glaring at her.
"Um, researching." Eve said smiling knowing Rachel would kill her for waking her up. Rachel pulled back her brown curls and blew air out of her mouth.
"Your doing it right?"
Eve nodded yes, and Rachel got up and sat beside her and looked at the website. "That's a good start, but you are going to need a lot more than a website if you are going to debate a professor on his own turf."
Eve chuckled "What are the chances of me failing this class?"
Rachel looked at her and made her big dark brown eyes big, "I could give you gentle version or the blurt out version." She said with a sly smile.
Eve sat up, "Oh come on you better be kidding me."
"Well you asked, do you want the advice or not?"
Eve sighed, "You have no filter."
"I get that from Aunt Aimee."
"Yeah, but I got mom's traits."
Rachel laughed, "What? Quiet, unsure, hesitant."
Eve gently shoved her sister, "It's called thoughtful, and cautious."
They went quiet for a few minutes and then without warning Rachel shoved her off the bed causing Eve to land flat on her back. "What was that for?!" Shrieked Eve.
Rachel started laughing, "You woke me up at 1 A.M in the morning, you think I wasn't gonna get you back?"
They went to bed and as Eve was starting to fall asleep she couldn't let go of the website she was reading and what her parents has told her.
Is it worth it?
Too be continued.
