"Please rise. Please rise." I mimic, snearing. "Every single fucking morning! Every time! It's like that stupid A.I. can't understand the meaning of beauty sleep or five more minutes!" Kaden pinches the bridge of his nose, his features warring between exasperation and amusement.
"Em. It's an A.I. It's not supposed to let you sleep in any more than your schedule allows." I fume.
"Well it could maybe wake me up with something that doesn't make me want to use a fucking EMP on it's metaphorical ass." Kaden groans, falling back onto Mercy's bed. I sigh. Mercy and Crys had demanded to do a group movie night after finding out about Kaden and I's horror movie extravaganzas, not taking no for an answer. As a result, both Kaden and I are now being held hostage while Crystal and Mercy scold us for talking during the movie. Once again, Crystal turns around and glares at us, signaling for us to shush. I stick my toung out at her and she rolls her eye before turning back around.
"You curse way too much, Lyn. Cool it. Literally nobody else in Aitmil curses as much as you." I grab a pillow, shoving it onto his face. He yelps, accidentally kicking Crystal who in turn falls forward onto Mercy and suddenly the movie's paused and we're being glared at by the two Diamonds. I slowly take the pillow off Kaden's face and attempt to hide behind it.
"Will you two shut up!? We're trying to watch these people commit mass murder over here! My god, have a little class." Mercy snaps. Both of the girls turn back around and unpause the movie.
"Ya. We're the one's who need to have class. Those two are over there enjoying probably the most classless movie-" I whisper in kaden's ear.
"Flatty" Kaden interjects grinning, and I roll my eyes, continuing.
"-I've ever seen." Kaden snickers, and I glare at him, picking up the pillow threateningly.
"Do you want to get us kicked out?" I hiss, glaring at him.
"Maybe just a little." Kaden beams, and I sigh in exasperation, lowering the pillow.
"You know what? Out. Go over to Kaden's room if you two won't shut up!" Kaden jets out of Mercy's bed, pulling me behind him. His lack of protest makes Crystal glare after him and I wave back apologetically. Mercy snickers, winking at me suggestively. I make a face, and she covers her mouth, supressing her laughter. Kaden hits the door icon that leads to his rooms and we enter a navy blue bedroom. It's formatted pretty much the same as mine, but it's darker, with less fluffy stuff and more sharp edges.
"How come you get a room that doesn't give me a migraine?" I protest. He drops my hand and goes over to switch off the lights. "Also why did you leave the lights on this entire time?" Kaden strugs. I take a running start and then jump onto the navy colored bed in the center of the room. "Oh my god this is even better than my bed! How!?" Kaden sits down next to me.
"It's just one of the many perks of being Mercy's Sapphire." I grab a pillow, hugging it. It's so nice in here. Kaden stares at me and I nervously laugh.
"What?"
"Nothing. I just like it when you're happy." I shift away a little, flushing. This isn't weird at all. No. It's not like I just kissed my supposed to be dead best friend slash lover (Question mark?) only a few days ago. It's not like the guy who I've come to think of as almost an older brother is hitting on me or anything. It's not like I'm kind of confused and if I'm being honest with myself maybe just a little interested? But then again I mean like-
"You're doing that thing again." He shifts a little closer and I try to look anywhere but at him.
"Wha what?" My voice rises and I cringe inwardly. Smooth, Emmy. I clear my throat, attempting to calm myself. "I mean what? What is it that I'm doing exactly?" I recover.
"Over thinking things." Kaden reaches a hand over and brushes a stray piece of hair out of my face. I giggle nervously, shifting back and forth and trying not to look any more freaked out that I probably already do despite the rising anxiety and panic I can feel clawing at the inside of my stomach.
"You're so cliche, Kaden." His smile slowly drifts off his face and he stares at me quietly. Nice going, Emberlyn. You blundering dolt. You ruined it. I ruined it. He probably hates me. He probably thinks I'm some stupid Bronzer who can't put a simple and non offensive sentence together. His eyes flicker from my eyes slightly down and I lean a little away from his hand, which still hovers next to my face. God damn it why are you like this Em? Should I move my head back? Or would that be weird now? Oh my god what if he's just messing with me and this is a prank? But that wouldn't make any sense. Then again I mean-
"Shut up and kiss me, Lyn." He leans forward gently, and I lean back a little again. I start to fall backwards and in a panic my arms swing and I grab the back of his neck to stay upright, but I just end up pulling us both over and we fall right into a kiss. I tilt my head to the side a bit more, leaning up and into the kiss. I run my hands through his hair and he props himself up on his elbows, pulling away to look down at me. "So you haven't slapped me yet so I'm going to assume you don't hate me for that." I beam.
"Shut up and kiss me, Kaden."
"Will do, love."
_______
"SQWEEEEEE!" Mercy shreiks, grinning excitedly. She turns to Crystal, who grimaces and covers her ears. "So wait are you two an item then? What exactly happened? Did you stay the night? How far did you go? Oh my god should we be expecting a mini Kaden in nine months? Are you gonna-"
"Mercy! No! My god. I've known him for like a little over a week! Really? Also we're not an item. Not yet. I'm gonna have to have that conversation so we can sort it out."
"What do you mean? Don't you want to be Kaden's girlfriend?" I groan, grabbing my tea off the table in Mercy's living room.
"Of course I do. I just don't think you're an item if you haven't explicitely said 'lets be together' or like 'hey you're my girlfriend now' or something of the variety. You can't just assume. I mean seriously who would just-"
"Hey, love. Telling the girls that we're together?" Mercy and Crystal exchange looks and burst out laughing. Kaden gives me a puzzle look. I shrug.
"Kaden can we talk?" I pause. "Alone?" He frowns.
"Of course. Ya. Mercy, Crystal, scat. My girlfriend has to break up with me in private." He ruffles, and I stare at him surprised.
"What?"
"You did kind of just use the line that everybody uses right before a break up." Mercy and Crystal awkwardly exit and I take a step towards Kaden. He backs up a little. "What, was I just some sort of play thing or something? Is that what this is? Is that all I am to you? Some sort of sick lab rat?" He fumes, and I shake my head quickly.
"No kaden I just wanted to-"
"You know what, whatever. It's not like I actually liked you or anything." I stiffen.
"What?"
"Ya. That's right. I played you. I don't even enjoy your company. You're just some twisted Bronzer on a power trip. I just figured you'd be an easy fuck."
"I asked them to leave so I could ask you if you really wanted us to be an item, Kay. You asshole! I was just trying to make sure we were offical, but now? Well at least I know how you feel you selfish little shit faced... Golder!" Kaden stands there looking shocked and I throw my tea in his face, slap him and march off to the hall so I can go back to my rooms.
"Wait, Emberlyn I'm so sorry I didn't mean that! I swear I was just-" I whip around.
"Just what, exactly? Just trying to protect your large ass ego? Yah. I know, but that doesn't mean you didn't mean it, deep down. If you didn't mean it, you wouldn't have said it. Thanks for nothing, asshole." I turn back around and go to open the door icon to the hall, but before I can, Kaden grabs my wrist and We both fall through the door icon. I pushes me against the hallway wall, kissing me desperately. I shove him away.
"I'm sorry, Lyn. I really am. I don't know what got into me. I'm an asshole. Please. Please don't leave me." His arms block my exit, caging me in. I close my eyes, thinking.
"You're one stupid ass Golder."
"But I'll be your stupid ass Golder if you'll have me." He pleads, and I calm a bit.
"Fine. You get one last chance." He grins, leaning in to kiss me, but I duck under his arm, going in the direction of my rooms. "I'm giving you another chance, not a blank slate. You're gonna be getting shit about this for months, Kay." He groans, hitting his head on the wall where I was a few seconds ago.
"Fair enough, love."
"Oh, also be at my rooms tomorrow at 9 pm for movie night, if you still wanna do that. You'll have to sit on the floor for the first movie at least, though." He smiles over at me, replying gidily.
"I'd sit on the floor for every movie night if it would make you happy."
"Duly noted, Kay." I smirk, walking off.
"No wait you're not gonna really make me sit on the floor are you?" He calls, and I shoot a response over my shoulder.
"You'll just have to find out at 9 tomorrow, Kaden." I'm only half joking.
