"What? What is it now? Do I have something on my face?" He erupts in laughter and I huff.
"No. There's nothing on your face. It is your face. You're as red as an alert beacon. It's hilarious." He doubles over, and I shove him. His face morphs from scrunched up in laughter to shock as he tumbles into the water. I snicker, smirking at him. He comes back up and glares at me playfully. A mischievous look crosses his face and I brace myself for whatever kind of sick revenge he has planned. I yelp when he starts shaking, hitting me with an onslaught of cold water. Then he grabs me off the side of the pool and we both go under. I quickly stand up, gasping.
"Why you little..." I splash him in the face and back up, laughing. He hits me with a wave and I stumble back. His pace quickly looses it's happiness and goes pale. He dives forward, grabbing me just as I feel my feet drop off the edge of the shallow end. I bury my head in his chest and squeeze my eyes shut. He swiftly gets us back out of the pool and wraps a towel around me. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to do that. I should have been more careful."
"It's fine. It happens." He shrugs, giving me a goofy smile. I chuckle.
"I wasn't aware there would be anyone here at this time." A new voice echos through the pool cavern. A Diamond rounds the corner, his sapphire in toe.
"Yah. We were just leaving, actually." Kaden goes ridged, and I look up at him questioningly. He ignores the look, offering me his hand to get back up. I stand, and the Diamond eyes me, then goes back to addressing Kaden.
"You don't have to do that. Who's your little friend?" Kaden shoves me behind him.
"That really doesn't concern you, Ulysses." I peak over Kadens arm, which hangs in the air in front of me, gaurding me from this Ulysses guy.
"Oh but I think it really does, Kay. Now tell me who she is." He challanges.
"She has a voice." I hiss out. Kaden shoots me a look.
"This really isn't the time, okay, love?" I shut up. Only one person ever called me that. Charlie. I decide now isn't the time to start a fight and mar that memory with bad ones.
"Let's go, Kaden." I relent. He remains tense, keeping me as far away from Ulysses as possible on the way out. I can feel Ulysses's gaze drilling into me. I'm glad once we're out, but I'm left with a burning need to punch something. Or sleep. That too.
