After the Stresser Test was done, things started to get even weirder, and I mean like monkey riding a motercycle weird. I mean I guess we probably passed that point like five stressers ago, but still. There started to be tests of things I know there shouldn't have been tests on. Mainly because the stresser test is supposed to be the last test. As in I've never met anyone who ever had any tests after the stresser test. Ever.
The next test they gave me was the reaction time test, in which I was tasked with a variety of nonsensical things such as dodging bullets, catching random objects and live animals, and a bunch of other stuff I'm hoping to never talk about of participate in again. Of course it was all done in VR, so while I'm now extremely rattled, I'm in one piece. The computer is rambling on about the current test, the Rationality Test, and I answer the questions numbly, still in shock from being shot at and on occasion actually shot not five minutes ago. I bet diamonds don't play that sim.
"Alternate Personality Training innitiated." This snaps me out of my daze, and I stare at the screen as information about some Frya Jolainta Runs across the screen. "Please log all information within the time limit." My eyes go wide, and I open my mouth to object, but stop when I see a clock counting down on the top of the screen. There's no time for arguing with this A.I., I have to just do the stupid test.
Apparently this Frya girl is 21, a Golder, and her favorite color is green. She likes the outdoors and her best friend is Zyler, a Silver who works for her. I snort. Ya, sure. That's gonna end well. To each their own I guess. More information goes by and I struggle to log it all. The screen goes red and suddenly I'm in a diner party. I'm wearing gold, my hair, which hangs in front of my eyes is gold, and my nails are even painted that shiny metallic color.
"Frya, this is Glen. He's just been assigned to Gold recently, and I was wondering if you could show him around." My eyes snap up, only to meet a man around my age with a girls arm around his waist. I follow the arm to the body of the girl and then to the face. She smiles and I hesitantly smile back. "Please, Frya? I know you don't like these kind of events, but Zyler isn't even going to be here for another hour or two. You have nothing to do anyway." I nod, my eyes darting from the girl to the man.
"I'll do it." The girl squeels, hugging me. I awkwardly pat her back.
"Thank you so much Frya, you won't regret this!" She grins, and I can't help but smile back.
"Ya sure, but you owe me." She nods, darting back off into the crowd. I turn back to this Glen guy, and he holds out his arm for me. I stare at it a little before finally putting my hand on it. We glide through the crowd, and my new found grace startles me a little. It's probably part of the sim, but I can't help but like the feeling of almost floating.
"So how do you know Taya?" I pause, and furrow my eyebrows, then it comes to me. Taya. That's Frya's sister. I laugh, smirking at him childishly.
"She's my sister. I can't believe she wouldn't metion it." From what I'd logged, Taya was a little bit of a trouble maker, but being Freya's twin, was put in the same class as her despite her slightly off base test results. Siblings don't usually get consideration unless they're twins or tripletts or something of the sort. On the Alkina such things are rare, and as a result, they're treasured.
"So wait, are you two..."
"Twins? Yes."
"That's... cool." He scratches the back of his head nervously.
"It's okay if you think it's weird. There aren't that many twins in the Alkina. I get it." He smiles, and I duck my head away, looking for an escape. Finally I spot Taya again. I tug him towards her, but the room starts disolving and then I'm back in the small white chamber. I frown. I liked that sim. Probably a bit too much. The next two tests I again go through almost on autopilot. Until finally the computer gives me the thing I've been waiting for all day.
"Tests complete. Welcome to your new life, Emberlyn." Then the room goes black and the A.I. goes silent. I take a step forward and reach my hand out, brushing the wall, and then the floor disappears and I'm falling My hair whips around in my face and my arms flail. One last final call for help is ripped from my throat as I tumble into the darkness.
