"Nobody calls me that anymore." I snap, and Tanner backs up a little. I can't help but notice when water drips into his eyes and his clothes drip, soaked from being submerged. My own clothing doesn't fare much better, and I hate the image that I conjure just thinking about it. I'm suddenly glad I'd elected to wear pants and a shirt this morning rather than the suggested ceremonial dress. Tanner looks at me funny and I can't quite tell if he's squinting out of confusion, anoyance, or if he's just trying not to be blinded by the water. I'm hoping it's the later. It's too early in this marriage for us to be bickering so often."It's Charlie. Just Charlie." Tanner raises his hands in surender and I huff, crossing my arms defiantly. So much for not bickering.
"Fine, Angel eyes. I won't call you that then." I swat at his arm, scowling.
"Don't call me that either." He scoffs, giving me an unbelieving look.
"Well then stop scowling so much and then I can call you doll face, angel eyes." My scowl intensifies and Tanner smirks, shaking his head at my obvious frustration.
"Do you take joy in my misery, or are you just naturally talented at infuriating anyone and everyone in a ten foot radius of you?"
"Oh come on, angel eyes. Don't be like that. I'm only playing."
"Well your playing is derogatory and demeaning. From what I've seen so far, I can not possibly concieve that you should ever be a good or fair ruler. You're practically a child dressed in a teenagers skin!"
"Well that's low. I'm older than you, you know that, right? And anyway, you are in no way shape or form qualified to determine if I am a fit ruler or not."
"Of course I am. I'm your significant other now. Bound to your sniveling ass for the rest of my unfortunate days."
