Charles and I just returned home from school and saw that everyone was running around. What is going on? It’s like a madhouse in here. I heard Charles laugh.
“It’s not a mad house Polly... well it kind of is. We’re having an engagement party tonight,” said Charles.
“Oh, I see,” I said and Charles laughed again. Abigail and Raymond walked over to us and pulled me into a hug.
“Hi Polly,” said Raymond.
“Hey,” I said. They looked at each other and laughed. Thanks for telling me at the last minute. That made me laugh even harder. It’s not funny. They stopped laughing and calmed down.
“I guess you know that we are having an engagement party for you guys,” said Abigail and I nodded.
“You should go get ready Polly,” Charles said.
I finally reached our room and turned on the light. I found a little puppy on my bed and gave a little happy shriek. He was the cutest thing that I’ve ever seen. He started to bark and growl playfully at me and I started to laugh. Charles came running into the room and his mouth opened up.
“How did he get here?” he asked and I shrugged my shoulder.
“I just found him here on the bed.” the puppy licked my face and I giggled.
“Can we keep him?” I asked Charles.
“Sure. Consider it as an early wedding gift.” Charles said. I laughed and put the puppy down and ran to Charles to give him a deep kiss.
“We should name him,” said Charles.
“How about Adrian?” I asked Charles.
“Sounds perfect,” Charles said.
I laughed and so did he. Charles kissed me and walked out of the room. I sat the puppy down on the bed and went into the closet to look for a nice dress to wear. I found a red strapless dress that goes right above my knees and I put it on with a pair of black strap heels. I walked out of the closet and went to the bathroom to do my hair and makeup. I did half of my hair up in a bun and the rest down. Then I put on red eye shadow and lipstick. Once I was finished I walked back into the room and went to the dresser. I put on a pair of black dangling earrings and put on my beautiful engagement ring. I walked over to the bed and picked Adrian up. Charles walked in and his eyes widened in shock.
“Wow Polly,” Charles said and I laughed.
“Are you ever going to get used to me dressing up?” I asked him and he started to giggle.
“Never. We better get going love,” he said and I nodded my head and took his hand.
We were about to walk out of the room when we heard barking. We turned around and saw Adrian trying to follow us.
“Stay Adrian,” I said and Adrian sat down. “Good boy,” Charles said and we walked out of the room and down the stairs toward the ballroom.
Two of the guards opened the door for us and we walked in. All eyes were on us. I heard a few people say ‘he shouldn’t be marrying a human’. I ignored them and so did Charles. We found Abigail and Raymond and Abigail gave me a tight hug.
“You look so pretty Polly!” said Abigail.
“So do you,” I told Abigail and she grabbed my hand and pulled me toward the dance floor. I heard Charles laugh.
“Abigail you should know that I can’t dance,” I told her and went to leave but she grabbed my hand and twirled me around. I laughed and so did she.
“Just move with the music Polly,” Abigail told me. I nodded and moved with the music. I danced as well as I could.
“You’re doing great Polly,” Abigail told me.
We finished dancing and she brought me back to Charles. He hugged me and a slow song came on. Charles took my hand and brought me to the dance floor and I wrapped my arms around his neck and he wrapped his arms around my waist. We started to move to the music and I laid my head on his shoulder.
“I love you,” Charles told me.
I looked up at him to look him in the eyes and replied “I love you too”. He leaned down and kissed me.
I laid my head back on his shoulder and while we danced I fell asleep in his arms.
I would always remember this perfect night.
