The first warning
A few years ago, I came to Edinburgh for a three months summer internship. During my first week in Edinburgh, everything was going fine. The people, the places and the roads were becoming more and more familiar to me. I lived in the Liberton area. My internship took place in a lab of the University of Edinburgh. Every day, I used to walk to go to work. It was really nice as the landscapes were really appealing.
I always remember the day when it all started. It was the 1st of June, a Friday. I decided to go early to work. I left my home at nearly 7am and was heading down the Alnwickhill road. The fresh air was giving me energy. The big fields filled with grass were a real pleasure to look at. It was cloudy and cold, I just liked it. Birds were producing a relaxing music. It was as if they were talking to each other by singing. The cricket's warblings perfectly went along with the song of the birds. Even though the wind was not visible, it was manifesting itself by the sound coming from the rustling of the leaves. The orchestra of Lady Nature was entertaining my ears, giving a rest to my mind.
While I was walking, I suddenly heard a strange sound. It was different from the melody of the birds. I stopped walking and focused on the noise. It was coming from a house. The latter just looked normal but someone was hitting the small window which was on the top centre of the house. Nobody was paying attention to the noise except me. I carried on walking with the thought that the person was probably cleaning the window panes or making some repairs on the window.
After a good day of work, I decided to walk back to home. I was thinking about a plan for the weekend. When I got near the house which grabbed my attention this morning, I decided to check if there was something unusual. It was the building number eleven, a big detached house. Many large windows were part of the fenestration of the house. The one which interested me was the top centre hexagon shaped one. I stayed for some time but nothing happened. I just continued to walk and went back home reassured. It seemed that my imagination had created everything.
