It was the 8th of June 2019, I was supposed to get my results, results that could help me achieve my new ambition: driving a car. I had been going to driving classes for months, but I really struggled a lot to get a decent level. After lots of hours of practise, so many that I cannot even count them, and scoldings from the instructors, they finally accepted to let me take the test. The day before the exam, I could not sleep partly because I was nervous but also because I was excited that I was maybe finally going to feel the freedom and joy of driving a car.
I was tired on the day of the exam. My body was shaking each time I was thinking about the test. After some minutes of panic, waiting for my turn, the previous candidate asked me to come near the car to start the test. I went into the car, the instructor explained me the rules. Strangely, even though I knew the rules, it was kind of reassuring to hear the directives from the examiner. I started to drive. I was focused and was looking everywhere like a gazelle waiting for its predator to come out of nowhere. There were lots of road works going on. I tried to be careful. After a few minutes drive, I reached a very narrow road. I was in the right lane, the left lane was for the vehicles who wanted to overtake or the people who wanted to turn to the left. I did not see it coming but a car suddenly stopped in front of me and turned its warning lights. The path was becoming more narrow. I used my indicator and started to move to the left, I moved and did not see a motorbike which almost hit me but did not as I put my foot on the break. The instructor coughed. I felt my heart beating so fast that it would come out of my chest. After that, I did not make any mistakes. Nevertheless, I did not know if at the moment when the bike came close to the car, the instructor did put or not his foot on the break. I hoped that he did not because that would mean that I did fail the exam.
