A very scary house
The next day, I woke up at 6.25 am. After taking a shower and having my breakfast, I decided to walk to work. While going down the Alnwickhill road, I noticed that a few horses were in the grass fields. Small yellow flowers had grown in the middle of the grassy area. It was strange as the lands were previously empty. Nobody was on the roads. I was walking quite fast, more quickly than what I used to. Nevertheless, I was not tired. In fact, walking in Edinburgh can be challenging as there are uphill roads.
Then, it started again. Indeed, the same sound I heard yesterday, was back again. It was coming from the same place. I could see hands on the top centre window. However, this time, there was also blood on the window. I thought that I would better call the police. Before, I wanted to know what was happening there. I entered through the main gate and knocked on the door. I waited for a few minutes but nobody answered. In fact, the main door was open. I decided to enter. There were stairs in front of me and on the right, there was a living room. The latter was furnished with a Chesterfield sofa, a traditional table and some wooden chairs. It was neat and everything seemed to be well centred. The chairs were perfectly symmetrical with respect to the table. There was no television. However, there was a cupboard full of books. On one of the corners, there was a square piano. Overall, it looked like an ancient time living room. I knew that the noise came from the first floor, so I climbed the stairs.
There were several rooms. They were all open except one. A sound was coming from that room. Something was written on the middle of the door. It was marked in black capital letters on a piece of cardboard. The message was quite clear: DON'T ENTER. A frightening scream came from inside. I started to feel pain in the ears as the piercing cry was becoming shriller and shriller. A few seconds later, the scream stopped. There was no noise, I could just hear my heart beat. After gathering my courage, I slowly got my hands closer to the doorknob. Suddenly, the door from the room next to me got shut. The noise scared me. I went backwards. I felt a chilling sensation. My lips started to tremble. I was sweating as if I had run for several hours. A creepy music started to be played. The notes were very low and the tempo was getting faster and faster as if something was slowly getting closer to me. It was coming from the piano downstairs. I ran back to look if somebody was down there. The scary melody stopped.
I was hesitating whether to stay or not. However, maybe somebody needed help in that room. That thought gave me back my courage. I quickly ran up and approached the door. I opened it and was astonished.
