The tide shatters before me,

its edges unraveling in threads of white foam,

weaving across my salt-kissed skin.

It rushes over my bones,

heavy and relentless,

then pulls itself away,

leaving only the echo of it's touch.

I fix my gaze on the horizon,

a line of endless blue

that whispers of places I'll never see.

Beneath me,

the sand crumbles and shifts,

dragging my soles deeper

with every crash of the waves.

Push and pull,

push and pull.

The rhythm feels eternal,

a ceaseless waltz of devotion

as the waves rise to throw themselves forward,

only to surrender,

flattened and silent against the shore.

They embrace and retreat,

and in their chaotic grace,

I find something infinite,

something whole.

but as vast as the sea,

as boundless as its eternal ache.
