We are born in the wreckage of creation,

shattered pieces, sparks of fire,

existing only to burn,

to build something from the ashes.

When we gaze into the vast expanse,

the Universe stares back,

an infinite mirror reflecting our mortality.

The stars, so close to death,

blink in time with our fleeting breaths.

Moonlight spills like a ghost

across the cold emptiness of space,

one second, just a murmur of the past,

as sunlight claws its way through the dark,

eight minutes lost, swallowed by time.

The cosmos is a web of broken branches,

spreading, reaching, consuming.

We are threads in this tangled whole,

a cycle unbroken, yet endlessly displaced.

Time bends and folds,

but does it ever truly disappear?

What is eternity to us?

A word, a dream, a fleeting wish

caught between our hands,

too human to ever grasp.

The Earth will crack,

the Sun will explode in fiery surrender,

and galaxies will twist and die,

only to birth something unknown.

But what of you and I?

Are we stardust, as they say?

Are we nothing but reflections of a universe

that doesn't care to understand our time,

our limits,

our measure?

The cosmos is grander than our comprehension,

Still, we cling to the illusion of control.
